YouTuber who intentionally crashed a plane now facing 20 years in jail
A YouTuber and pilot who crashed his aircraft intentionally could face up to 20 years in jail. Trevor Jacob filmed himself on November 24 and posted it in December 2022, claiming that he was forced to jump from the craft. He was flying over California’s Los Padres national forest in a 1940 Taylorcraft BL-65, when he parachuted out of it and left it to crash. The 29-year-old previously lost his pilot’s licence. He has now pleaded guilty to one count of destruction and concealment with the intent to obstruct a federal investigation, a crime that "carries a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison". Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter “In the weeks following the plane crash, Jacob lied to investigators that he did not know the wreckage’s location, according to the plea agreement. In fact, on December 10, 2021, Jacob and a friend flew by helicopter to the wreckage site. There, Jacob used straps to secure the wreckage, which the helicopter lifted and carried to Rancho Sisquoc in Santa Barbara County, where it was loaded onto a trailer attached to Jacob’s pickup truck,” federal prosecutors said in a press release. I Crashed My Airplane www.youtube.com The prosecutors added: “Jacob further admitted he lied to federal investigators when he submitted an aircraft accident incident report that falsely indicated that the aircraft experienced a full loss of power approximately 35 minutes after takeoff. "Jacob also lied to an FAA aviation safety inspector when he said the airplane’s engine had quit and, because he could not identify any safe landing options, he had parachuted out of the plane.” Last year, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it had revoked his licence. The administration said in an official letter: “On November 24, 2021, you demonstrated a lack of care, judgment, and responsibility by choosing to jump out of an aircraft solely so you could record the footage of the crash.” Have your say in our news democracy. Couple told they 'go to prison' after licking ice cream in store and putting it back
A couple has been slammed for opening up a tub of ice cream in a supermarket and licking it before putting it back in the freezer. The grotesque incident appeared to be part of an unwelcome online trend that first appeared in 2019 and saw others filming themselves licking ice cream in shops and putting it back on freezer shelves for someone to later buy. A recent video shared on TikTok has resulted in the influencer Tequan Hines, and his girlfriend, Asia, on the sharp end of some significant backlash. In the clip, they could be seen opening and taking turns to lick a tub of Blue Bunny ice cream before returning it to the freezer. The video, which included their other social media handles, has since been deleted by Hines, but not before it had been screen recorded and reposted by other TikTok users. A video about the incident made by TikToker Noah Glen Carter has been viewed over 2.6 million times and provides a bit of an update on what happened next. Someone commented: “Hope you both go to prison.” Another wrote: “I can't even defend the bulls**t y’all did with that icecream. Y’all went too far.” “You should be put in jail! 'Kendall Jenner on steroids' earns thousands from OnlyFans arm wrestling videos
A female bodybuilder, who some have called "Kendall Jenner on steroids", has opened up about her five-figure-a-month salary on OnlyFans. Model Vladislava Galagan started training 11 years ago, before competing in bodybuilding competitions in 2018. The 27-year-old soon developed a social media following with her frequent training videos and model shots. This prompted her to set up an OnlyFans account, with fans likening her to Kendall Jenner. "I sell this image of being good-looking and muscular and combine it and with a little erotic," she said, adding that she also uploads arm wrestling videos. "When I joined social media, I learnt there are so many men who like tall, strong muscular women with a nice face too." She added: "I am constantly told I look like 'Kendall Jenner on steroids'. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Vladislava has adhered to a strict diet and workout routine since she began competing in bodybuilding competitions over a decade ago. She goes to the gym at least six times per week - working out for around an hour and a half each time - and eats a protein-heavy diet. She eats four meals a day to make sure she eats over 100g of protein - favouring protein-rich foods such as beef, eggs, turkey, chicken and fish. She also takes performance-enhancing drugs to help maximise her efforts - but says there's no "magic pill" and it must be coupled with a consistent diet and training. She visits the gym six days a week and trains each muscle group twice a week as well as having three cardio sessions a week. In 2016, Vladislava opened an Instagram account and began sharing her gym progress pictures. She also began doing fitness modelling - and due to her toned physique she fed into a particular "fetish around muscly women". As well as contributing to a platform called 'Her Biceps' - specifically for female bodybuilders - she set up an OnlyFans and Patreon for people to subscribe to her exclusive content. She said: "I'm muscular and good-looking, it sells really well. "So many people think it's CGI or photoshop, but it's not. "I wear see-through lingerie, leather and latex, but I don’t do anything explicit - I just imply. "I also do arm wrestling videos - people like those." As her subscription platforms and her social media grew, there was one particular recurring comment. She said she is told daily that she looks like a muscly version of Kendall Jenner. On TikTok, examples include one user who commented "@kendalljenner got f***ing jacked" while another said "she's like a buff Kendall.... I'm all for it." A third commented: "Face of Kendall Jenner, body of Chris Evans [from Captain America]." She said she receives these comments daily - although she doesn't personally agree. She said: "I don't really know how they see it. I guess there are some similarities. "It's not how I brand myself, but they like a mix of my face and my body." Thanks to "hitting the sweet spot" by combining looks and physique, she takes home five-figure paychecks each month from her OnlyFans and Patreon. She added: "I feel like I won the lottery." The Good Doctor 'I am a surgeon' meme explained
Viral trends are nothing if not unpredictable, so we shouldn’t be surprised that a six-year-old hospital drama has suddenly been thrust into the limelight. The Good Doctor – which stars Feddie Highmore as an autistic medic with savant syndrome – has been running since 2017, but it’s taken until now for it to really catch the attention of social media. A scene from season two of the ABC series is taking the likes of TikTok and Twitter by storm. It shows our protagonist, Dr Shaun Murphy (Highmore), passionately shouting: “I am a surgeon!” And of course, the beauty of viral memes is their total separation from any context, enabling us to apply them to the scenario of our choice. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter But it’s still interesting to know the source of these snippets. In this case, Dr Murphy’s outburst comes from an episode titled ‘Breakdown’ in which he confronts his boss, the hospital’s chief of surgery, Dr Jackson Han. Earlier in the series, Han had relegated Murphy to lab work. But, after successfully saving the life of a patient, the younger doc wants his job back. After all, he is a surgeon. @hnjiaajuz14 #movie #foryou #riddit #fypシ #pyf Since going viral, the scene has undergone a series of extreme edits, featuring SpongeBob, laser eyes, and catchy remixes. And whilst Dr Han (played by Daniel Dae Kim), is basically the show’s heartless baddie, he’s also become the internet’s favourite heartthrob. Still, the show isn’t without its critics, with many condemning the simplistic portrayal of autism as a kind of adorably awkward superpower. Another clip that’s been doing the rounds, taken from a season one episode titled ‘She’, shows Murphy confounded while treating a trans patient. The implication that his ignorant tactlessness is a result of his autism hasn’t sat well with viewers, and was called out well before ‘The Good Doctor’ became a darling of the meme circuit. Still, most people are just enjoying the random beauty of the show’s sudden virality. Thanks to these mystifying algorithms, anything can blow up on your timeline: good (doctor) or bad. What were the choir singing in the now viral misheard Coronation moment?
During the King’s Coronation, a choir sang a song for the new Queen Camilla and everyone is saying the same thing about what it sounds like. On Saturday 6 May, King Charles III was officially crowned alongside The Queen, Camilla at a ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London. The ceremony, steeped in tradition and ritual, featured many musical interludes from various choirs and it was during one song that people thought they heard the word “vagina” being sung. In a viral TikTok clip by @the_two_games, which has been viewed over 29 million times, Camilla could be seen inside the abbey slowly making her way down an aisle between a choir whose members stood on either side. Text overlaying the clip read, “Please tell me you hear ‘I LIKE VAGINA CAMILLA’” and the person filming the TV could be heard laughing in the background. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter @the_two_games I LIKE VAGINA CAMILLA! #coronation #kingcharles #comedy #fyp #england #king #camilla #camillaparkerbowles It’s safe to say that the TikToker who shared the post wasn’t the only person to mishear to song. Someone else commented: “I was thinking that too when I watched it.” Another said: “I CAN HEAR IT TOO.” “I thought I was the only one that thought this when I watched it live,” one comment read. On Twitter, others said the NSFW words were firmly stuck in their head. Someone tweeted: “After 14 vodkas ‘I like vagina Camilla is on a loop in my head and I can’t stop laughing.” Obviously, the choir was not singing about vagina, but was instead singing the words “Vivat Regina Camila!”. This means, “Long Live Queen Camilla” in Latin. Mystery solved. Have your say in our news democracy. 'Upset' vegan family write note to neighbour who was making them 'feel sick'
Australian Facebook is up in arms over a letter from an "upset" vegan. Someone from Perth, received a letter from a vegan neighbour complaining about the meaty smells emanating from her kitchen. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It read: "Hello neighbour, could you please shut your side window when cooking please. "My family are vegan (we eat only plant-based foods) and the smell of the meat you cook makes us feel sick and upset. We would appreciate your understanding. Thanks, Sarah, Wayne and kids." But people were divided about whether the request was reasonable or not after the note circulated on Facebook. One said: "I feel like this was a genuinely polite letter, and it’s true to smell of meat is overpowering. It would be nice to see some respect for your neighbours, and not publicly trying to shame them for holding strong ethical morals." "This is the like the nicest way they could possibly ask," another said. "What is wrong with some people?! They’re simply asking for a different window to be open that isn’t adjacent to their home. Gosh, some people just like to complain I swear." But others were less generous. One wrote: "I’d be cooking up bacon and steak every day and putting a fan behind it and directing it out the window!" "If they don’t like the smell then they can close their window," another said. Have your say in our news democracy. YouTuber suffers gruesome arm break during live stream
Anything can go wrong during a live stream. And while some streamers intentionally bend the rules for views, other incidents are completely unexpected. Take the recent episode of the Pitchside podcast by YouTubers Reev, Theo Baker, and Tom Garratt. Theo and Tom had an arm wrestling match during the stream ahead of watching Newcastle United vs Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. What was supposed to be a bit of fun took a horrific turn when Tom's arm snapped. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter "Oh f**k," he said, completely stunned. The Pitchside co-hosts were equally as mortified and went for help. Chris Dixon a guest on the show, later turned to Twitter to update fans on Tom's condition. "Quite an achievement to make the worst sound ever heard on Pitchside with Theo’s football opinions. Tom is okay, in A&E now," he posted. Theo also followed suit with a photo of Tom in the hospital, writing: "Hi guys, Tom's had his X-ray and has broken his humerus. He says anything for the content!" Fans turned to Twitter to send Tom their best wishes, while others commented on the disaster. "This is why I can’t even watch an arm wrestle anymore I feel sick," one person wrote, while another added: "Getting your arm snapped by Theo Baker has to be a new low." "I seriously hope he’s alright," one fan responded on Twitter. "That looked and sounded mad painful. However… Having your arm broken by Theo Baker of all people is not something you’re gonna live down any time soon."
