For one unlucky woman, it was through a Google search that she discovered the man she had been seeing for a month and a half was actually engaged to be married, after finding his wedding website with the details of his upcoming nuptials. TikToker Ellen Smith (@ellenelizsmith) went viral on the platform after revealing her ordeal after stumbling across the information about the man she was dating. In the video, Smith explained: “If you’re having a bad day, just remember that you could have accidentally found the wedding website of the man that you’ve been seeing for six weeks, on Google." Smith continued: “So, it could always be worse for you, not for me. One person commented: “I found the wedding website of my then-husband while I was deployed.” “I was talking to a guy who told me he was going home for a wedding… it was HIS wedding,” another said. Someone else wrote: “I did that. Then sent them a gift from their registry.” Another admitted: “Ooof!! I was the fiancé who found his Craigslist ads for casual hookups with men.” The whole ordeal had some in the comments questioning the point of marriage, with one person saying, “I no longer believe in marriage…because men”. A bride has annoyed people of the internet by charging guests £2,000 to attend her nuptials. Reportedly posting on Mumsnet, one of the guests claimed she had been invited to stay at a villa with the bride’s family and friends and was asked to split the cost for a week regardless of how long she could stay. She wrote: “The thought of spending a week socialising in a villa feels overwhelming, particularly when I don't know anyone and everyone else is in a couple, so I was going to stay only four nights.” So, she asked to share a room with another guest to cut costs but the bride didn't take it well. “She started crying and said she was upset because I have never been enthusiastic about her wedding plans (which is true, when she first asked for my villa deposit, I had asked a few times about other accommodation options),” she explained. After complaining, the bride reportedly refused to talk to her friend and the pair later ended up embroiled in a "heated discussion". The wedding guest was allegedly told: “It's clear the time/cost/venue etc. is asking too much of you and if it had been the other way round, it wouldn't have even crossed her mind to think about these things.” The woman's deposit was returned but she was still unsure about going to the wedding. She wrote: “She has always been quite selfish but I'm really upset by her lack of understanding as to why I don't want to spend a week with strangers and that I really did want to speak about the wedding. But at the same time, I know weddings are stressful and maybe she was trying to be sensitive. “Truth be told I'd rather go to a school friend's wedding on the same weekend who I feel like is a much better friend.” Responding to the situation, one commenter reportedly wrote: "The friendship is already over I'm afraid. I wouldn't go. I'm sorry." Another added: "It sounds like the friendship is going to survive much longer anyway." While a third said: "You shouldn't have to fund someone else's wedding." A man has received widespread praise for doing "everything right" when he noticed a woman was lost at night. In a viral tweet by Evie Aspinall (@EvieAspinall_), she detailed how she was lost at nighttime as she tried to find her way to her hotel while on the phone with her boyfriend, and added in an updated tweet that Google Maps wasn't working. That's when a man offered to help after hearing about her problem, and it's what he did next that he was commended for. Instead of trying to engage in conversation with Evie, he told her to remain on the line with her boyfriend and walked a distance in front of her the whole way as he directed her back to her hotel. "A man overheard me on the phone to my boyfriend last night lost trying to find my hotel. He didn’t try and make small talk. He told me to stay on the phone," she tweeted. "And then he walked 2 feet in front of me, for a whole 10 minutes, so he could point out my hotel to me. "That’s how you do it. In what could have been a scary situation he did everything right." Evie concluded: "I felt so safe. Massive thank you to that man." Since then, Evie's tweet has gone on Twitter/X with over 13.4m views and 237,700 likes on the initial tweet, then 2.3m and 147,000 likes on the follow-up tweet. People on the social media platform have also applauded the man's actions for making Evie feel safe while guiding her to her destination and others also shared similar stories like this one.
