Critics of Donald Trump believe he may be using racist dogwhistles while discussing Black litigators and political opponents in the wake of his latest indictment. Mr Trump was indicted yet again, this time in Georgia. On Monday, Fulton County prosecutors accused him of trying to manipulate the 2020 presidential election results in the Peach State. He took to Truth Social to announce that a "large, complex, detailed but irrefutable REPORT" proving his election fraud claims in Georgia would be presented on 21 August. In addition to the grand announcement, he also dropped a weird noun that left some observers sceptical of its intended use. "There will be a complete EXONERATION!" Mr Trump wrote of his upcoming presser. "They never went after those that Rigged the Election. They only went after those that found to find the RIGGERS!." Whether or not Mr Trump intended to describe his political enemies using a word that is one letter away from being an exceptionally offensive slur is unclear. What is clear is that plenty of observers noted his use of the word. Arieh Kovler, a current affairs and politics writer, collected a sampling of responses from a group of Trump supporters who post anonymously at a Reddit-like forum. "I don't know if Trump deliberately uses 'RIGGERS!' as a dog-whistle, but his supporters hear it either way," he wrote. “Worth noting here that the ‘riggers’ as a racist codeword has been used for a while in MAGA circles.” Mr Kovler included a screenshot from the site showing one user who said "I love [Trump] so much" because "he just used the word RIGGERS!" In other posts, supporters made clear they were not discussing alleged election manipulators while using the word. Similar responses could be found on Twitter when searching about Mr Trump’s use of the word. Mr Trump making racist-adjacent remarks is hardly novel. During his presidency he reportedly questioned why the US would allow Haitians and African immigrants to cross the border, referring to their homes as "s***hole countries." His niece, Mary Trump, has stated publicly that she heard the former president use racial slurs growing up and claimed racism was normal for his family. And he has given special nicknames for his Black opponents — like calling New York Attorney General "peekaboo James," which may or may not be a reference to a racist insult aimed at Black people. He also called Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg an "animal" and a "criminal" who works for George Soros. He called both Ms James and Mr Bragg "racists" and extended that charge to the woman leading Georgia's case against him, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Williams. Ms Williams is Black, and Mr Trump has baselessly accused her of having an affair with a "gang member" she was prosecuting. “They say there’s a young woman, a young racist in Atlanta. She’s a racist. And they say, I guess they say that she was after a certain gang and she ended up having an affair with the head of the gang or a gang member,” Mr Trump said in his remarks to a group of veterans on 8 August. “And this is the person that wants to indict me. She’s got a lot of problems.” In contrast, when referring to DOJ special counsel Jack Smith, the white litigator leading the federal government's case against Mr Trump, the former president refers to him as "psycho" and "unhinged." Pep Guardiola says Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne faces up to four months out and could require surgery on a hamstring injury. The 32-year-old was forced off in the first half of June’s Champions League final triumph against Inter Milan and did not play a single minute of pre-season. De Bruyne returned from that hamstring issue as a second-half substitute in the Community Shield shoot-out loss to Arsenal and captained the side against Burnley in Friday’s Premier League opener. But the Belgium playmaker only lasted 23 minutes at Turf Moor, where seemingly out of nothing he signalled to the bench that he had felt something. Guardiola said after the game at Burnley that the issue related to the same hamstring and would see him miss a few weeks, but it appears worse than first feared. “It’s serious, the injury,” the City boss said. “We have to decide if it’s surgery or not surgery, but it will be a few months out.” Guardiola said that decision will be taken in the “next days” and De Bruyne faces “three or four months out” if he goes under the knife. “Ramon (Cugat) saw the images,” Guardiola said of his go-to doctor in Barcelona. “He didn’t personally (do anything) and they have two or three doctors have the same opinion, more or less, what they have to do.” Guardiola was speaking on the eve of City’s first ever UEFA Super Cup appearance, with De Bruyne’s injury leaving him clearly downbeat in Greece. “I have to say the injury for Kevin is a sore blow for us, so he’s a big loss,” Guardiola said at the press conference previewing the clash with Sevilla. “Kevin has specific qualities that you can lose for one game, two games, but for a long time is really, really tough for us. “But at the same time you have to look forward and of course you have alternatives there with different skills because the skills for Kevin are irreplaceable. “But you have different talent players so it’s an opportunity. Life gives you that. “When there’s an injury, there’s an opportunity for the other ones and I’m pretty sure they will take it.” Asked if the injury was down to bad luck or De Bruyne returning too soon, Guardiola shot back: “Give me 25 days of preparation and he will not be injured. “Before I take the decision I spoke to the doctors, the physios with him and he told me ‘I feel good, I feel good’. “So, I said ‘ok, it’ s better start then half-time (take him off) but unfortunately it happened.” Phil Foden looks primed to step up in that role but the severity of De Bruyne’s injury could see City look at a signing before the window closes. “We will see,” he said. “After what happened, we haven’t talked with Txiki (Begiristain, City sporting director). “We will see the chances and possibilities. We will see.” De Bruyne looks set to miss City’s entire Champions League group stage and potentially December’s Club World Cup on top of domestic matters. The severity of the Belgium playmaker’s injury is a big setback and came as a surprise to team-mate Rodri. “Well, I didn’t know it was that much, honestly,” he said. “What can I say? I mean, he is one of the most important players of the club. “For sure we are going to miss him a lot. We are going to try to support him in this bad moment. No one wants injuries. “I saw him the other day and he was positive, he wants to come back (quickly). “He’s an experienced player, he knows he doesn’t have to run fast to come back. He has to recover – that’s the most important part. “We are going to miss him but at the same time I can tell you we have a very complete squad to play these two months without him. “And hopefully we can have him back because he has been so important these years.”

Australian actress Margot Robbie was offered an obscene amount of money to sell pictures of her feet on a fetish website. The 33-year-old Barbie actress was made an offer of £250,000 ($490,988 AUD) by a woman named Liz who is a popular creator on the website Fun With Feet which allows people to buy and sell images of feet for cash. In a letter addressed to Robbie, Liz claimed she looks like the actress and proposed the idea of collaborating on some Barbie-inspired content that would “earn us both millions”. She wrote: “Dear Margot, My name is Liz and I make thousands selling feet pics on Fun With Feet… I also look a lot like you. Barbie is all women, but we really are Barbie - Stereotypical Barbie, anyway. “I would love to collaborate with you on some Barbie-inspired content that’ll earn us both millions. Plus, Fun with Feet is offering to pay you £250K as a starting bonus. If I’m right, we’ll be able to capitalise on our likeness - and the world’s obsession with all things Barbie - to no end, all thanks to our feet!” Liz claimed that people already come to her because she looks like Robbie and that her “stereotypical Barbie feet” are already an “insane earner”. She ended her offer, writing: “If you would be at all interested in working with me, contact the Fun with Feet team and we can twin on some blockbuster foot content! We were made for this!” The offer was also extended to Robbie’s male co-star Ryan Gosling, for some “amazing Ken and Barbie-themed foot content”. Nestlé USA is recalling a “limited quantity” of its Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough “break and bake” after fragmented pieces of wood were found in some packages. On 10 August, the food and drink corporation announced the news in a press release published on its website. According to the company, it had identified two batches of the 16.5 oz product produced on 24 and 25 April as being the reason for the recall, “due to the potential presence of wood fragments”. “This recall does not involve any other Nestlé Toll House products, including other varieties of refrigerated cookie dough in ‘break and bake’ bars, rolls, or tubs, or Edible cookie dough,” the statement read. Nestlé directed consumers’ attention to the recalled batch codes to avoid, both 16.5 oz bags with 311457531K or 311557534K. The company warned people who have already purchased these batches to “not prepare or consume the product” and urged them to “return the product to the retailer where it was purchased for a replacement or refund”. There have been no reported injuries or illnesses related to the recall, according to the confectioners. “We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution after a small number of consumers contacted Nestlé USA about this issue,” the release proclaimed. “The quality, safety and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers.” Nestlé also said it is in contact with the US Drug and Food Administration (FDA) about the recall, according to their press release. Anyone in need of support or with any further questions is encouraged to contact the company’s customer service line at (800) 681-1678 Monday through Friday, between 9am and 6pm ET. The recall comes after Nestlé voluntarily recalled its Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling because of the “potential presence of white plastic pieces” in October of 2022.
