This is what happens with Rishi Sunak stands next to the tallest MP in parliament
Rishi Sunak was pictured standing next to the tallest MP in Parliament and the jokes were hilariously predictable. Standing at 170cm (5ft 6 inches tall), Sunak is 5cm shorter than the average man in the UK, according to the Office of National Statistics. So, when Sunak was pictured standing alongside Conservative MP, Daniel Kawczynski, who is reportedly 6ft 9 inches tall, the height difference inspired plenty of comment. Kawczynski explained in an Instagram post that he met the Prime Minister to discuss the running of the health service in his constituency. He wrote: “Yesterday I met the PM and raised again my concerns over the management of Shrewsbury & Telford NHS Trust. “Despite securing £312 million for modernisation of A&E Services 6 years ago construction has not started as a result of the appalling behaviour of Telford Council.” The picture shared alongside the caption showed Kawczynski completely dwarfing Sunak who stood to his left. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter On Instagram, one user sarcastically asked: “Bring your child to work day is it?” Another person joked: “‘Honey I shrunk the PM’.” “Did you also discuss what route you'd be taking to Mordor?” another asked. Other people could not believe the image was real, with some having made the assumption it had been edited. “Saw this photo on Twitter and assumed it was photoshopped,” wrote one Instagram user. Another argued: “If you raised your concerns they are probably too high for Rishi to see them.” Have your say in our news democracy. Majority of leagues want broadcasters to hear live VAR exchanges, survey finds
Majority of leagues want broadcasters to hear live VAR exchanges, survey finds
A majority of leagues around the world want conversations between referees and VARs played out live to broadcasters, a survey has found. The Premier League was one of 41 leagues to take part in the survey by the World Leagues Forum, an umbrella body currently chaired by Premier League chief executive Richard Masters. The Premier League has declined to comment on whether it supported the move on VAR in the anonymised survey, but 25 of the 41 leagues were in favour of it. One respondent said: “(Having an) audio feed open for broadcasters between referee and VAR is a priority.” Using the two-way audio feed live is currently not allowed under the laws of the game, which are set by the International Football Association Board. Last month, Professional Game Match Officials Limited’s chief refereeing officer Howard Webb appeared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football programme to talk through some incidents from the season where VAR had come into play, allowing audiences to hear for the first time the discussions between the referee and the VAR. The PA news agency understands PGMOL is considering more regular insights into the discussions between referees and VARs next season as part of a move towards greater transparency. MSCHF's crumb-sized bag sells for over $63,000
MSCHF's crumb-sized bag sells for over $63,000
Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF have officially sold their crumb-sized bag for a staggering $63,000 for Pharrell William's online auction house, Joopiter. Following the success of their Big Red Boots, the designers returned with a "bag" measuring just 657 by 222 by 700 micrometres. It's modelled on Louis Vuitton's OnTheGo handbag, where Pharrell currently acts as the brand's creative director. Despite this, MSCHF'S chief creative officer Kevin Wiesner candidly told the New York Times that he did not ask the French brand for permission to use their design. "We are big in the ‘ask forgiveness, not permission’ school," Wiesner told the publication. On Wednesday (28 June), the microscopic bag sold for $63,750. Other items included in the auction were said to include: A 'Portrait of an English Lady' by George Condo ($1,050,000), a Lewis Hamilton x Takashi Murakami F1 Grand Prix Helmet ($387,500), a Louis Vuitton x Virgil Abloh Dream House Window Mannequin ($65,000) and a Pharrell Williams x Richard Mille RM 65-01 ($481,250). Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It comes after the brand made waves earlier this year with a peculiar pair of boots that soon circulated on social media. Donned by the likes of WWE wrestler Seth Rollins, rapper Lil Wayne and Diplo, the MSCHF's Big Red Boots became an overnight hot topic with polarised views across the internet. "Man if y’all don’t get these big ugly ass Clifford the big red dog looking ass shoes outta here," one person joked, while another added: "This how I used to draw everybody feet in elementary school." Meanwhile, there were many fans of the Big Red Boots, with one writing: "I’m sorry I wanna buy me some so bad." Have your say in our news democracy.
