How to make the Prince of Wales’s Earthshot burger
The Prince of Wales has teamed up with popular YouTube channel, Sorted Food, to create the first Earthshot Burger. The veggie burger was created with Earthshot Prize-winning products, and a video posted on YouTube shows William handing out meals from a food van in central London with the Sorted Food chefs. The burger, filled with vegetables, spices, pickles and finished with a minty vegan mayonnaise, was developed by the sustainable packaging start-up Notpla (winner of the Build A Waste-Free World category), environmentally-friendly stove company Mukuru Clean Stoves (winner of the Clean Our Air category), and Kheyti’s Greenhouse-in-a-box, winner of the Protect and Restore Nature category. The collaboration is part of The Earthshot Prize’s new partnership with YouTube, to encourage users to create more content around climate change. Here’s how you can make your own at home… The Earthshot Burger Ingredients: (Serves 4) For the pickle: 1 cucumber, 2mm slices 1 mouli, peeled and cut into 2mm slices 200ml white wine vinegar 75g caster sugar 1tsp chilli flakes 1tbsp coriander seeds ½tbsp fennel seeds 1tsp mild chilli powder 1tbsp ground coriander seed 1tsp garam masala For the burger mix: 6tbsp vegetable oil 2tsp cumin seeds 1tsp mustard seeds, brown 1 red onion, peeled and finely chopped 6 cloves garlic, peeled and minced 40g ginger, finely chopped 2 green chillies, finely sliced 1tsp turmeric 1 red pepper, deseeded and sliced 200g white cabbage, shredded 200g cauliflower, finely chopped 100g green beans, finely sliced 500g white potato, steamed and cooled 30g coriander leaves, chopped For the sauce: 200g vegan mayonnaise 60g coriander 20g mint, leaves only 20g ginger, peeled To serve: 4 burger buns, sliced and toasted Method: For the pickle: 1. Place the sliced cucumber, mouli and one tablespoon salt in a large mixing bowl and mix well. Allow to sit for 30 minutes. 2. Add 400 millilitres water, vinegar, sugar and spices to a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over a high heat. Once simmering, remove the pan from the stove. 3. After 30 minutes, tip the salted cucumber and mouli into a colander and rinse under cold running water then add them to the warm pickle liquid. Stir well and allow to cool. For the burger mix: 4. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds and fry for two minutes until fragrant and starting to pop. 5. Add the onion, garlic, ginger and chillies, along with a pinch of salt and continue to fry, stirring occasionally for five to seven minutes until the onion is starting to colour. 6. Tip in the spices and stir to combine. 7. Tip in the sliced pepper and continue to cook for five minutes until the pepper softens and releases its liquid. 8. Add in the cabbage, cauliflower and green beans, stir everything together and cover the pan with a lid. Allow the vegetables to soften for five minutes. 9. Coarsely mash the potatoes in a bowl and then add them, along with the coriander to the pan. Stir everything together and taste and adjust the seasoning. You are looking for a thick mashed potato texture. 10. Remove the pan from the stove. For the sauce: 11. Add the mayonnaise, herbs, ginger and a generous pinch of salt to the jug of a blender and puree until smooth. Taste and adjust the seasoning. To serve: 12. Divide the mashed potato and vegetable filling between the toasted buns. Top each with a couple of pinches of pickled vegetables and finish with the herb sauce. Ukraine war – live: Zelensky condemns Russia’s ‘terror’ attacks on hometown as child amongst multiple dead
Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned Russia’s “terror” attacks on his hometown of Kryvyi Rih that left four people, including a 10-year-old child, dead. “Regions of Ukraine are being shelled by the occupiers, who continue to terrorise peaceful cities and people,” Mr Zelensky wrote on Twitter. “Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded. There may be people under the rubble. My condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones because of Russian terror.” The deputy head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, Oleksiy Kuleba also confirmed one person had been killed in Kherson, claiming an attack by Moscow. Calling for revenge, Mr Kuleba wrote on the Telegram messaging app: “The enemy is hitting settlements and cities. This is terror due to the despair and defeat of the Russian Federation at the front. This is terror to intimidate and break Ukrainians. Both sides reported casualties on Monday amid heavy fighting, as Ukraine reported it had recaptured nearly 15 square km (5.8 square miles) of land from Russian troops in the east and south over the last week. The Russian-installed head of Ukraine’s Donetsk region said that two people had been killed and four injured in Ukrainian shelling of Donetsk city, the regional capital. Candace Owens says Lena the Plug is in a 'slave relationship' with Adam 22
Candace Owens has joined the throng of critics of Adam22’s unorthodox marriage to Lena the Plug, branding their relationship one of “master and slave”. The right-wing commentator sat down for a three-hour discussion with Andrew Tate when they turned their attention to the now-notorious couple. For those who haven’t been following the saga, podcasters Adam22 (real name Adam Grandmaison) and Lena (real name Lena Nersesian) were thrust to viral stardom, after she filmed a sex scene with porn star Jason Luv. The X-rated encounter spawned a whole number of follow-up interviews, fall-outs, and conversations, including one with the king of toxic masculinity himself: Tate. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The self-styled “Top G” was introduced to the couple during a live episode of YouTuber Adin Ross’s eponymous show earlier this month. During their discussion, Ross asked the former kickboxer for his thoughts on the Lena-Luv liaison and Adam’s part in the whole thing. “All I can say is that I wouldn't personally do that, that's not something I would allow my woman to do,” he replied. After a lengthy debate about it all, Adam “extended an invite” to Tate, saying that if he were “ever interested in doing his first ever double-penetration scene”, he and Lena might be up for it. However, he then checked this with his wife and asked: “Would he be a suitable candidate?”, to which Lena replied: “No.” Adin Ross Introduces Adam22 & Lena The Plug To ANDREW TATE www.youtube.com Owens seized on the bizarre live-streamed meeting during her interview with Tate, condemning Adam’s treatment of his other half as “horrific”. “Don't allow them to delude you to believing that this is femininity,” the presenter fumed. “It's not femininity, Lena, to have your husband offer your body to another man on camera. That's the poisoning. “They teach women that this is sexual freedom, that this is sexual liberation,” she continued. “I looked at that and I saw a slave relationship – I saw a master offering his slave to another person because he was just so, ‘I just love Andrew Tate, would you like to sleep with my wife? I would be OK with that’. “That is horrific. That is not femininity. That is not masculinity.” Nodding, Tate chimed in: “I absolutely agree with you on that point. You're totally right there, and I think that's probably one of the most misogynistic things that have happened on the internet in recent times.” He went on to say that he found Adam’s behaviour “pretty disgusting”, pointing out: “He didn't ask her, he offered her.” Bigging up his own response to the situation, he said: “I felt sorry for her so I was very measured in my conversation with them. “I could tell she was nervous, she was swinging on the chair back and forth. She didn't want to be there, she felt extremely nervous and I think that only a coward would berate a very nervous, very scared woman.” He then laughed: “I think she expected me to go at her hard, maybe I'm getting soft in my old age." However, let there be no misunderstanding here: Tate is no champion of women’s rights and values. During their ‘Adin Live’ meeting, the influencer – who is currently under house arrest after being charged with human trafficking and rape – explained why he “wouldn’t let his woman” sleep with another man. “The reason I wouldn't ever do it is because I believe that a man and a woman have a connection between them, and I think that connection is solidified by sexual exclusivity from the female’s part,” he said. That’s right, “from the female’s part”. Still, Adam doesn’t seem phased by Tate’s criticism nor by Owens’s fierce criticism. Indeed, he even shared her slavery allusion on X (formerly Twitter) via his ‘No Jumper’ podcast account. All we can say is, none of this inspires confidence in the future of respect and equality. Remi Lucidi: ‘Enigma’ daredevil who climbed skyscrapers across the world
Tributes poured in for 30-year-old French "daredevil" Remi Lucidi who loved to climb skyscrapers – often without a harness. Lucidi was at the Tregunter Tower complex in Hong Kong when he fell to his death from the 68th floor after reportedly getting trapped outside a penthouse. Lucidi began climbing skyscrapers in 2016 and travelled the world attempting to scale tall buildings. His Instagram profile, where he went by the username Remu Enigma, is a gallery of hair-rising images of Lucidi posing at the top of high-rise scaffolding and buildings in several countries, including Ukraine, Dubai, Bulgaria, and France. He turned 30 this February and commemorated the milestone by posting his picture with a cake emoji in the caption. In a photo posted on 16 July, Lucidi took a selfie while hanging off the stairs of the top of a building in Gabrovro, Bulgaria. He captioned the picture: “Life is too short to chase unicorns.” In most of the images and videos posted from his account, which has over 5,200 followers, he can be seen clinging to the spires of tall buildings without any protective gear. Last year he shared footage of him balancing on the edge of a 980-foot-high chimney in France without any harness. Lucidi’s last post on Instagram is from six days before his death, where he shared a photo of Times Square in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. That post is now filled with comments of people, expressing shock at his demise. “Stakes are high searching for amazing experiences. Eternal respect rest in peace,” wrote one user. “Lived his life to the fullest always seeking adventure, didn’t let fear get in the way,” added another person. “Life is truly short, rest easy brother... .” While not much is known about Lucidi's family, his hostel owner in Tsim Sha Tsui described him as a "healthy and fit and happy-faced" person. "He told me he was going to hike a mountain when I asked where he was going. He said he wanted to hike a lot when he was here," Gurjit Kaur told South China Morning Post. “I feel very sad,” the owner added. According to investigators, Lucidi arrived at the building in the evening and told the security guard that he was visiting a friend on the 40th floor. He is believed to have made his way to the top floor and reportedly got trapped outside and frantically started knocking on a window, startling a maid inside. Surveillance footage shows Lucidi taking the lift to the 49th floor before taking the stairs to the top. He was last seen knocking on the building's windows calling for help. The stuntman then lost his footing and fell, dying instantly. According to reports, the French consulate has been informed of Lucidi’s death while the Hong Kong police are investigating the incident.
