What is TikTok's great ‘chicken war’ all about?
What is TikTok's great ‘chicken war’ all about?
From the random to the obscure, there is always new trend that's taking over TikTok and this particular one involves chickens. This "chicken war" craze sees owners jokingly flex the fighting abilities of their prized birds. And don't worry, there's no actual blood sport involved – just fighting talk from the humans. It all started when TikToker Dylan Bezjack (@dylan_bezjack) filmed himself walking with a flock of chickens closely following behind him, to which he quipped that he and the chickens were on their way to “kick some a**.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter @dylan_bezjack #i #aint #no #chicken The video went viral with 1.4 million views, and clearly caught the attention of other chicken owners who decided to show Dylan what he and his flock would be up against – inadvertently kicking off the "Chicken Wars 2023" trend. Woman 'poisons' her food to stop flatmates from stealing it
A woman who noticed her food and drink was being stolen by her flatmates has revealed the lengths she took to get her own back. TikToker Sarah (@saatj32) opened up about the drastic measures she was forced to take, explaining in a video: "I had to poison my food because my flatmates kept stealing it." She then shared a recording of herself carrying out the act: opening a carton of organic British skimmed milk and pouring in the contents of a salt container. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter "People want to drink my milk and want to put it back," and added how she's going to see "whose who." After pouring in the salt, she can then be seen closing the carton and shaking it to mix the salt, before giving it a whiff and adding even more salt to the mixture. In the caption she wrote: "And I have absolutely no regrets and yes someone drank it." @saatje32 And I have absolutely no regrets and yes someone drank it #university #flatmates #freshers Since then, the video has been viewed more than 277,000 times and racked up hundreds of comments from people sharing similar experiences of sticky-fingered flatmates. One person wrote: "I like this, because when they go low, I go LOWER." "I literally told my one flatmate that I'm gonna put stuff in my food 'cause it keeps being taken. She ended up consuming it as if I didn’t warn her," said another. A third added: "This video is hilarious to me cause I basically have a video of me doing the exact same thing." Meanwhile, others shared what they would have done in the same situation. One said: "Add lemon juice and it will immediately curdle. Instantly ruins everything they’re making and you can deny doing anything." "Just salt? Should have put chicken grease and dyed it blue or sum for evidence," wrote another. Woman ends up in hospital after mistaking superglue for eyedrops
Woman ends up in hospital after mistaking superglue for eyedrops
A woman has been hospitalised thanks to an unfortunate mix-up. In a viral clip posted to TikTok, 22-year-old Lyd (@icyylyd) urged her 112,000 followers to always "read the bottles" after she applied what she thought were eyedrops, only to discover she had doused herself in super glue. Lyd shared a montage of the horrifying incident, starting with a gruesome image of her eye glued shut. "They had me apply an ointment that breaks down and dissolves the glue," she wrote over a brief recording of her rubbing the cream on the affected eye. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter She then showed herself being treated by medics on a hospital bed, explaining that the cream didn't work. This meant a doctor was forced to pick at the glue in an attempt to remove it. After several attempts, Lyd was taken into a private room where her eye was finally opened with a metal tool. She concluded by showing viewers her bloodshot eye after successfully being opened. "I'm in so much pain," she wrote while holding a compress against it. @icyylyd Not fun :))) read bottles before using! #fyp #superglueineye #foryoupage #foryou Inevitably, the TikTok soon spread across the platform, with a staggering 5.4 million views and thousands of comments from concerned users. "Oh my god girl … I hope you get better and I’m praying there’s no damage to your eye," one person wrote, to which Lyd responded: "Thankyou. In a lot of pain and vision is still not the best. They gave me antibiotic eye drops." Another added: "Superglue evil for designing their bottles the same as eyedrop bottles." Meanwhile, one medic claimed the mortifying incident is more common than people may think. They wrote: "Former ophthalmic tech here! This happens WAY more often than you’d think. Sometimes the only way is to trim the lashes down." Have your say in our news democracy. Click the upvote icon at the top of the page to help raise this article through the indy100 rankings.

Woman ends up stuck with Airbnb guest who refuses to leave her home
Woman ends up stuck with Airbnb guest who refuses to leave her home
A woman was left raging after claiming an Airbnb tenant refused to leave her home. In a furious explicit-filled rant reposted to the @2RawTooReal Twitter account, the woman urged people to "trust no f***ing Airbnbs," alleging that her temporary house guest wouldn't leave – despite getting the police involved. She explained how she posted an advertisement on the popular rental website to help with the mortgage while she was on holiday. The guest was supposed to be gone three days before she arrived home. In a follow-up video, she filmed the unidentified (and unwelcome) lodger who brutally hit back: "I ain't going nowhere. Deal with it." After the homeowner accused the stranger of being a "freeloader", she replied furiously: "Call the police because I ain't going nowhere. Don't touch that [bedroom] door, or I'm calling the police on you. They're gonna arrest you." The would be tenant proceeded to make herself comfortable and even went as far as lighting a cigarette in the homeowner's dining area. "Are you smoking in my house?" the enraged woman said, before abruptly ending the video. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The viral footage was soon inundated with responses from stunned Twitter users. One person came up with their own innovative solution, writing: "This is the part where I cut off all the power, the cable, internet, etc. We are gonna live like it’s 1800. I would summon the worst vindictive version of myself to make it as uncomfortable AF for them to get them out of my house." Another joked: "Lmfaooo why is she so comfortable!?! Walking around with no shoes on, moving slowly etc." Meanwhile, a third person added: "This is one of the most insane things I've ever seen." Indy100 reached out to Airbnb for comment.
