Flights have been suspended at Germany’s Hamburg airport this morning after authorities received a threat of an attack against a plane from the Iranian capital Tehran. The airport said that there had been no takeoffs or landings since 12.40pm as police officers conduct a search of the aircraft and its 198 passengers and crew. Federal police said they received an emailed threat on Monday morning of an attack on the Tehran-Hamburg flight and were taking it seriously, though they didn’t give details. The spokesperson described the measures, which included interviewing passengers, as normal procedure when a threat is classified as serious. No takeoffs or landings are possible because the airport fire brigade is involved with the search, the spokesperson added. The Hamburg airport warned that flight delays may ensue due to the measures and did not give an estimate of when they could resume. The incident comes against the backdrop of violence between Israel and Palestine, after Hamas militants launched a suprise attack over the weekend. Former Israeli footballer Lior Asulin is among those killed by Hamas militants at the Supernova music festival. Early on Saturday morning, Hamas targeted the festival, a techno rave in the desert near the Gaza border, with videos shared on social media and by Israeli news outlets showing dozens of festival-goers running through an open field as gunshots rang out. The Israeli rescue service Zaka later said its paramedics removed more than 260 bodies from the festival following the militant attack. The total figure of bodies found is expected to be higher, as other paramedic teams were also working in the area and Zaka added that the bodies “haven’t all been collected yet”. It has now been confirmed that among those dead was ex-footballer Asulin, who had a 20-year professional career from 1997 to 2017. He played in the Israeli Premier League for teams such as Hapoel Tel Aviv, Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Herzliya, while also having a spell on loan in Cyprus with Apollon Limassol. And Hapoel Tel Aviv confirmed his death with a post on Twitter/X expressing their condolences to Asulin’s family. “With great sadness, after many hours when he was declared missing, we have been informed that our former player Lior Asulin was murdered by terrorists at the party in Re’im,” Hapoel announced. “The Hapoel Tel Aviv club bows its head and sends condolences and strength to Lior’s family at this difficult time.” The striker scored more than 175 goals during his career and, while on loan at Bnei Sakhnin during the 2003-04 season, helped them become the first Arab team to win the Israel State Cup after beating Hapoel Haifa 4-1 in the final. Off the field, Asulin reportedly spent time in prison, being released in August 2022, and he was celebrating his 43rd birthday at the Supernova festival before his untimely death. Eyal Lachman, who managed Asulin during his trophy-winning loan spell at Bnei Sakhnin, also expressed his condolences after the news. Lachman said: “A guy with a heart of gold, that was his most outstanding characteristic, they always said that his most outstanding characteristic was to give back, I saw that the most outstanding characteristic was to give his friends his soul. “I heard yesterday that he was missing, the first thought that came to my mind was what a beautiful life he could have had and what a different life he spent at the end. A man has received widespread praise for doing "everything right" when he noticed a woman was lost at night. In a viral tweet by Evie Aspinall (@EvieAspinall_), she detailed how she was lost at nighttime as she tried to find her way to her hotel while on the phone with her boyfriend, and added in an updated tweet that Google Maps wasn't working. That's when a man offered to help after hearing about her problem, and it's what he did next that he was commended for. Instead of trying to engage in conversation with Evie, he told her to remain on the line with her boyfriend and walked a distance in front of her the whole way as he directed her back to her hotel. "A man overheard me on the phone to my boyfriend last night lost trying to find my hotel. He didn’t try and make small talk. He told me to stay on the phone," she tweeted. "And then he walked 2 feet in front of me, for a whole 10 minutes, so he could point out my hotel to me. "That’s how you do it. In what could have been a scary situation he did everything right." Evie concluded: "I felt so safe. Massive thank you to that man." Since then, Evie's tweet has gone on Twitter/X with over 13.4m views and 237,700 likes on the initial tweet, then 2.3m and 147,000 likes on the follow-up tweet. People on the social media platform have also applauded the man's actions for making Evie feel safe while guiding her to her destination and others also shared similar stories like this one. Pep Guardiola refused to discuss the incident between Kyle Walker and Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover after Manchester City’s 1-0 loss to the north London side. In the footage, it appeared that Jover held out his hand to Walker, who declined the handshake.
