Wolves vs Liverpool LIVE: Premier League team news, line-ups as Quansah starts for the Reds
Liverpool are taking on Wolves at Molineux today as the Premier League returns following the international break. Jurgen Klopp’s side enjoyed an impressive start to the season, winning three and drawing one of their opening four games to find themselves third in the early table, including a stunning 10-man victory over Newcastle at St James’ Park before despatching Aston Villa 3-0. “We would’ve loved to have carried on after the Aston Villa game, which was a really good game,” Klopp said this week, ruing the two-week gap. Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has endured of baptism of fire after suddenly taking charge before the start of the season. A 1-0 win at Everton brought the only points from their first four games, and he has warned his Wolves players they will have to be at their very best to beat a Liverpool side he is tipping to challenge for the title. “I’ll be very surprised if they’re not right at the top this year,” O’Neil said. Football team sign 22-year-old student because his dad paid the team
Football team sign 22-year-old student because his dad paid the team
There’s more than one way to secure your place in a football team. Sure, you can justify your position by playing well and training hard – but it’s far easier if your dad can just pay your way in. That’s exactly what happened with a 22-year-old student who was signed by a football side because his dad gave them a load of cash. FK Usti play their football in the Czech third tier, and they welcomed the unusual signing of law student Martin Podhajsky earlier this summer. He’s never even played football before, but despite that he’s even been named as captain. As The Sun reports, he’s set to play 10 minutes for the side after his dad paid the equivalent of £17,500 for the experience. President of FK Usti nad Labem Premysl Kuban told the publication: "He has never played football. Only FIFA from what I know. However you don’t just see 500k czech crowns rolling on the floor every day. If someone gives me this type of money, I’ll let anyone play. "He said himself that he would like to play, then his dad called and things started to move. Martin is a law student and an employee of Viagem. "We are now adjusting the contract with Martin, and the fans will see him already at our first home game, so far only on the substitutes’ bench." How would you feel if Podhajsky signed for your club? Somehow, we can’t imagine that many people would be impressed. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Watch live: Munich Oktoberfest opens for 188th edition of world’s largest beer festival
Watch live as Oktoberfest, the world's largest beer festival, opens for the 188th time in Munich, Germany, on Saturday (16 October). The festivities, which go on for two weeks until 3 October, will kick off with a traditional keg tapping ceremony at noon local time. Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter will tap the first barrel of Oktoberfest beer in the Schottenhamel Festhalle. The long-standing tradition, dating back to 1950, involves the mayor of Munich attempting to insert the tap in as few blows as possible to fill up the first beer glass, which then given to the incumbent Bavarian state premier. Mr Reiter shares the current record for the perfect tapping ceremony - two blows - wih former mayor Christian Ude. After the tapping ceremony, 12 gunshots will be fired to signal to the other festival tents that Oktoberfest is officially open and they can start serving beer. On Sunday, thousands of people dressed in traditional costumes will parade through the city.
