Khaldoon Al Mubarak insists Manchester City will not stop growing
Khaldoon Al Mubarak insists Manchester City will not stop growing
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak insists there will be no stopping as the club continue to grow their global influence. The Premier League and European champions sit at the heart of a worldwide network of 13 clubs known as the City Football Group. As well as City, the CFG operates clubs in locations including New York, Melbourne and Yokohama, and this year brought Brazilian outfit Bahia into the fold. CFG intends to invest considerably in all of those operations, including players, coaches, facilities and academies. Khaldoon told the club’s media channels: “It’s always about growth. You grow, you pause, you get things in order, and then you start the next step, one step at a time. We’re not going to stop. “We’re going to keep going and we’re going to keep investing and we’re going to keep growing value, and we’re going to keep bringing happiness to every community and every club we have in the world, and hopefully we’ll keep bringing success in every club and team we have around the world. “It’s been a great journey over the last 15 years but I’m excited about the future and it’s about now, the next 10, 15 years too.” Manchester City have been the greatest success story having won seven Premier League titles since 2012 and this year they became only the second English side to win the treble. The club’s latest new infrastructure project is now in the pipeline with plans recently submitted to increase capacity at the Etihad Stadium to more than 60,000. The expansion is part of a £300million development which also includes the construction of a hotel, shops and food and drink outlets as well as a new 3,000-capacity covered fan zone. Khaldoon says it will also not be the last improvement at the stadium. “It’s very exciting,” he said. “Every year there’s always something new, every year, because there’s always a need to improve and evolve and grow. We don’t stand still. We never stood still. “Every couple of years we will do something, whether it’s the Tunnel Club, whether it’s the new stands, whether it’s the seating. “And now we’re going to have a wonderful, wonderful development around it that’s going to just enhance the whole area, is going to be great for the fans and it’s going to bring, I think, positive revenue for the club. “We’re always in growth mode, we’re never in contentment and pause and ‘let’s just milk the asset’. “This is about building value and growing value, and it’s about reinvesting consistently into this club.” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live Heavy rain set to delay start of final day of first Ashes Test England’s Lauren Bell raring to go in Ashes opener after ‘special’ Test debut Alice Capsey and Alice Davidson-Richards released from England Test squad

Do Kwon: South Korean cryptocurrency boss jailed in Montenegro for forging documents
Fugitive cryptocurrency chief Do Kwon, the entrepreneur sought by the US and South Korea in connection with a $40bn crash, was sentenced to four months in prison by a court in Montenegro. The 31-year-old South Korean national and Terraform Labs founder was found guilty of attempting to travel with a forged passport. He was arrested by the Montenegrin police in March as he tried to board a flight to Dubai at Podgorica Airport. Han Chang-joon, the former chief financial officer of Terraform Labs, was convicted of the same crime and handed a four-month sentence. The two were charged with forging official documents and placed in 30-day pre-trial detention. Police said they recovered doctored Costa Rican passports and a separate set of Belgian passports. Kwon and Chang-joon had pleaded not guilty at their first court hearing in May. The crypto boss reportedly told the court last week that he obtained the documents in Singapore through an agency selling citizenships of various countries and believed the passports to be genuine. Time spent in detention is included in the prison terms, and the pair can appeal the verdict, the Basic Court in Podgorica said. “Once we receive the verdict in writing, we will consult with our clients about possible appeal,” defence lawyer Goran Rodic told Bloomberg. The court has up to 30 days to officially notify the defence as well as the prosecutor’s office, the lawyer added. Both South Korea and the US have requested his extradition from Montenegro, while the courts in the country are yet to decide on those requests in separate proceedings. Kwon and five others connected to Terraform Labs are wanted due to allegations of fraud and financial crimes in relation to the implosion of its digital currencies in May 2022. The TerraUSD was designed as a “stablecoin", which are pegged to stable assets like the US dollar to prevent drastic fluctuations in prices. However, around $40bn in market value was erased for the holders of TerraUSD and its floating sister currency, Luna, after the stablecoin plunged far below its $1 peg in May. South Korea asked Interpol in September to circulate a “red notice” for Kwon across the agency’s 195 member nations to find and apprehend him. US regulators in February charged Kwon and his company Terraform Labs with “orchestrating a multi-billion dollar crypto asset securities fraud”. What does 'honk the boof' mean as Canadian military go viral on TikTok?
TikTokers on the video-sharing platform have been left confused by the phrase “honk the boof” which has gone viral thanks to military stars. It seems as though every week, a new trend or phrase goes viral on the platform as its predominantly Gen Z users attempt to stay up to date with the latest goings on. The most recent viral phenomenon has seen the revival of some old slang that has left some younger users baffled as to its meaning. What does “honk the boof” mean? It all started when American TikToker and a military man @onexpunchxdad pointed out in a clip that his Canadian soldiers in the forces can “grow beards and honk the boof”. In the clip, he joked he was “switching sides” from the US to Canada and the video has been more than 113,000 times, leaving many viewers stumped. As he laughed, he said: “Bro, honk the boof? The name wasn’t the funniest part. It’s that I know exactly what he’s referring to when he says ‘honk the boof’. “Thank you for giving me a genuine belly laugh. My God.” @mandatoryfunday #stitch with @????????????? he remains undefeated. This had me audibly laughing for at least 4 minutes. #military #veteran #army #navy #marines #airforce #coastguard #spaceforce One confused viewer commented: “Someone explain honk the boof real quick cause I’m not 100 per cent sure.” Another asked: “What does ‘honk the boof’ mean?” All was revealed, as it was explained that “honk the boof” refers to smoking marijuana since Canada legalised cannabis in 2018. In Canada, weed is legal for both recreational and medicinal purposes and is regulated by the government. It remains illegal under federal law in the United States.
