Lexicographer Susie Dent has destroyed Rishi Sunak in the most subtle way with her “word of the day”. Dent is an expert on all things words, having appeared on the TV word-based game show Countdown since 1992. Dent is known for referencing the news and particularly politics with her daily word posts on Twitter and today, prime minister Sunak appears to be her target. Sunak has made headlines recently by very quickly changing his stance on car usage and green energy. It was so out of the blue, that many suspect it has everything to do with the Conservative party marginally retaining the Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat in a recent by-election, based solely on a campaign against London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ). Since then, the PM has ordered a review of low-traffic zones, is reportedly considering scrapping 20mph speed limits and has committed to offering more licenses for firms to drill for oil and gas. With this in mind, Dent tweeted: “Word of the day is ‘snollygoster’ (19th century): one who abandons their principles for short-term gain or power.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Many suspect Dent’s post was a dig at Sunak and his apparent abandonment of green policies to win votes. One person tweeted: “Word of the day couldn't be more apt for the snollygosters in the @Conservatives today. “With particular reference to snollygosters in chief @RishiSunak @grantshapps. Burning our future for their immediate self-interest.” Someone else wrote: “Snollygoster Sunak fries the planet for political gain..” “Prime Miniature Snollygoster - has a certain ring to it?” said another. Controversial influencer Andrew Tate attempted to troll Amanda Holden but everyone pointed out his hypocrisy. The bizarre crossover unfolded after Holden posted a photo of herself wearing a black bikini and standing under an outdoor shower. Holden shared the image on Twitter along with the caption: “Good morning.” Tate, who is currently charged with rape, human trafficking, and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women, responded to her tweet suggesting she is somehow unqualified to post content like that. He wrote: “You are a wife and a mother and you’re far past a teenager. One person commented: “This take would've been fine if it wasn't for your hypocrisy, considering you're a bald 40-year-old charged for human trafficking and rape, while still posting shirtless pics of yourself on social media, touch some grass, Tate.” Another said: “You’re a 36 yr old Dad that eats his tea topless with his mates whilst under house arrest on charges of rape, human trafficking & forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women, I’m thinking you’re deffo not in the best position to preach on righteousness here fella!” Tate is currently under house arrest in Romania where he faces serious charges of sexual exploitation along with his brother Tristan and two other associates. Two mothers have been hailed geniuses for their creative McDonald's dessert hack. Janelle and Kate frequently take to the platform with their divisive food recipes – but one, in particular, has caught the attention of almost 10 million people. The footage shows the pair in the car mashing six McDonald's ice cream cones in a plastic container while disclaiming that things can get messy. They proceed to top the ice cream with chocolate sauce and their own sprinkles for good measure, before using the dessert as a dip for their fries. "It's the sweet and salt mixture," one said, while another called their creation "perfect". The clip was soon inundated with thousands of comments from fellow TikTokers, with one writing: "At first I thought you were crazy but the further you went ... I thought that looks pretty good." The ice cream machine became an international phenomenon that one McFlurry lover launched McBroken in 2020, a site dedicated to tracking all the broken machines in the US. In a 2021 statement by Taylor Commercial Foodservice LLC, the company that makes the machines for McDonald’s, they explained the issues with broken machines. The company said that, although it tries to send out repairs specialists as quickly as it can, the waiting times became longer due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The statement said: "A lot of what’s been broadcasted can be attributed to the lack of knowledge about the equipment and how they operate in the restaurants, "The machines are built up with a lot of interconnecting parts that have to operate in a complex environment and manner."
