An Ava Max fan was escorted off stage by security after slapping the popstar and leaving her injured. The footage shows the 29-year-old dancing on stage during one of her LA shows. The man who left Bebe Rexha needing three stitches on her face has come up with an eyebrow-raising excuse for his behaviour. The pop star had to be rushed offstage during a concert on Sunday night after Nicholas Malvagna, 27, hurled his phone straight at her. Rexha, who was performing in New York for her ‘Best F'n Night of My Life’ tour, was filmed dropping to her knees in agony as the device struck her in the eye. But Malvagna insists he hadn’t intended to hurt the singer-songwriter and that he’d merely been trying to make his mark as part of a viral trend. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter “It’s a TikTok trend where you throw your phone onto the stage, and a celebrity passes it and takes a selfie,'” the 27-year-old told arresting officers, according to Manhattan prosecutor Stephan Millan. “‘I thought she was looking in my direction,” he added. “I was about two rows back, but instead of my phone landing right next to her, my phone hit her in the face.” His lawyer, Todd Spodek, reiterated the claim in a statement, saying: “As a fan, Mr. Malvagna’s sole intention was to have Ms. Rexha take photos with his phone and return it as a keepsake. It was never his intention to injure Ms. Rehxa.” However, this justification runs contrary to a criminal complaint that was filed at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. He was freed without bail on Tuesday ahead of a 31 July court date and has been banned from making any contact with Rexha. Prosecutor Millan told Judge Valentina Morales: “Although the parties appear to be strangers, the defendant’s actions are serious. “The defendant was attending the victim’s concert. He decided it would be funny to throw his phone at her while she was performing. In a tweet, the 25-year-old took to Twitter where he called out the clickbait - this is when creators use sensationalised or misleading headlines to reel audiences in. First, he posted a screenshot of a video thumbnail by YouTuber Bolo showing an alleged tweet by MrBeast claiming that he will be dead within the next three years, with the titled called: "MrBeast's Disease Is Worse Than You Think," about MrBeast's Crohn's disease diagnosis. Then in a follow-up tweet, he added: "Can we end the trend of Photoshopping fake tweets of mine as thumbnails? Thnx [Thanks]." The response sparked a discussion online about clickbait on YouTube videos. Some people didn't feel too sympathetic towards YouTube's biggest creator. "Going viral comes with a cost. Maybe this is part of the cost," one person wrote. Another person said: "Wait.. so since you're famous now you are calling out clickbait thumbnails?? look in the mirror my guy LOL." Though many tweeted their support for MrBeast and criticised the clickbait methods some creators use to try to drive engagement. Disney's Pixar has revealed its first-ever non-binary character who features in the studio's latest film Elemental. Set in a city where water, fire, air and land residents live, the moving story is all about "a fiery young woman," called Ember and a "go-with-the-flow guy" called Wade who discover "something elemental: how much they actually have in common", according to the film synopsis. Wade's younger sibling, Lake Ripple is a non-binary character who uses they/them pronouns and is also voiced by non-binary voice actor Ava Hauser. Sharing the news on Twitter on Friday (June 16), Hauser posted: "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT I got to play Pixar's first non-binary character. Meet Lake! Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter "I voice Lake in the new movie #Elemental! I'm seeing it in theaters tonight with my friends, so you can catch it in theaters too if you wanna see them." People also shared some love for this news and for the character Lake.
