Millennial called a 'PR nightmare' by Gen Z friend for how she wore sunglasses
If TikTok has taught us anything, it’s that Gen Z as a group hold a lot of opinions, especially when it comes to Millennials. A viral video recently proved this point as a millennial person was called “PR nightmare” by their Gen Z friend for the way they wear sunglasses. In the clip, a group of friends appeared to be sunbathing. The millennial who was filming it informed viewers that her friend had made fun of her friend for the way she wore her sunglasses. The woman joked that she had been on the receiving of “bullying” all day and was called a “PR nightmare” by her younger friend. She proceeded to show people how she wears them, by placing them on her face in a normal-looking way. But, her Gen Z friend next to her laughed and said “it’s so shoved into your face”. She continued, saying she looks like “a dad that wears a visor”. The Gen Z-er explained the “normal” way is to have them “mid-nose”. The clip ended with asking viewers which way they wear them, sparking a debate in the comments. @jordanharpernp tough to keep uo with the trends these days ? #millennialsoftiktok #millenialvsgenz #millennial “The dad way… I’m trying to stop the wrinkles from appearing,” one user commented. Another simply wrote: “I am learning that Gen-Z thinks a lot and I do not care enough to think about these things.” Someone else said: “I mean I wear them in such a way that they block the sun from my eyes.” One person added: “I didn’t know there was a wrong way to wear sunglasses. I just put them on.” The Gen Z vs. Millennial debate appears to show no sign of stopping. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Dad leaves people divided after refusing to sit with his family on a flight
A father has come under fire after he was asked by a passenger during a flight if he wanted to swap seats to sit next to his family, but instead of moving himself, he got the other kid who was sitting with him to move. In the TikTok, @one_toughmother detailed what happened that led to the mum being left with both her baby, toddler and her kid, while the dad had a child-free flight. "I was seated next to a mom who had a baby in her lap and a toddler beside her,!" the on-screen text read and the situation was described as "a lot." "I offered to switch seats with the dad, who was a few rows up, so he could be with his family. "He says 'Great, thanks,' AND SENDS OVER ANOTHER SMALL KID TO SIT WITH THE MOM. "He enjoyed a kid-free flight," the video concluded. @one_toughmother A little sunday rage for ya #momsoftiktok #deadbeatdad Since being posted, the viral clip has received 4.6m views, 543,000 likes and a debate has been sparked over this scenario in the comments. On the one hand, many slammed the dad for being irresponsible and not helping out his wife with the kids. One person said: "The absolute rage I am feeling right now." "If I were the mom, he would not be my husband anymore after that," another person wrote. A third added: "I would have said no that’s not what I meant give me my seat back." "If my husband was like that we would be divorced before landing," a fourth person commented. Someone else replied: "This is the perfect ad for birth control." While others defended the father's actions. "Wait but, if he actually took the seat, wouldn't the other kid be left alone?? or did i miss smt [sic]." one person said. Another added: "What if he were a stay-at-home dad and mom was finally looking after the kids so he could have a break?" "This is why you should’ve minded your own business," someone else wrote. A fourth person replied: "I think he probably misinterpreted as it you not wanting to sit next to the children." In a follow-up video, the TikToker @one_toughmother who made the video noted "how differently it [the video] was received by men and women in the comments." @one_toughmother Replying to @Timmy Hope this clears up all the willful confusion. Most of the men in these comments making themselves KNOWN. #momsoftiktok #parenting #feminist She added that she didn't realise there was another kid sitting next to the dad when she made the offer to switch seats and that the father wanted her to sit in the middle seat instead of the aisle seat. "No, nobody was suggesting that he leave a kid alone with a stranger, the only reasonable option in this situation was for him to say 'No thank you, I'm actually sitting here with my other child.'" The 'how often do you think about the Roman Empire' trend explained
Women are discovering that their husbands think about the Roman Empire all the time in a new bizarre TikTok trend. It's clear from the reactions of many wives and girlfriends that this is something they didn't know about their partner before asking about the post-Republican state of ancient Rome. This topic began to gain popularity when Rev. Kelsey Lewis Vincent tweeted about something she had seen about it and asked her husband if he thinks about the Roman Empire to which he informed her it's an everyday thought. “I saw an IG Reel that said something along the lines of ‘Women have no idea how often the men in their lives think about the Roman Empire’,” she wrote. “So I asked my husband: ‘How often do you think about the Roman Empire?’ and without missing a beat he said ‘Every day’ “YALL! Why!?” Since then the tweet has had 7.5m views and now women posting on TikTok where they are asking men 'how often do you think about the Roman Empire?' as part of a new popular trend, and they all seem to think about it a lot. TikToker Sam (@theyaresam_) who posted about her husband who thinks about the Roman Empire "every single day," followed by a 45-minute discussion on the topic. @theyaresam_ the roman empire is actually fascinating While Britt (@listenwithbritt) was surprised to discover her husband thinks about the Roman Empire "all the time," and added how he "just mentioned" this subject to her. Woman captures one of most venomous creatures on Earth then touches it
We feel like we shouldn’t need to say this, but if you ever come across one of the most venomous creatures on the planet the last thing you should do is pet it. That’s exactly what one TikTokker seems to have done after filming themselves playing with the deadly Portuguese Man O' War. The animal has a deserved reputation as one of the most toxic creatures on Earth, with paralyzing venom found in its long tentacles. But the account "daily aquatic lovelies" has posted grabs from one video which shows someone tickling the dangerous animal. It appears to be from the now-deleted account @ariann-tudor. Thankfully, the person in the video didn’t appear to be harmed, but the incident could have been very damaging indeed. @lindsaynikole stitch w/ @arianntudor #manowar The footage that remains shows the creature had been scooped up into a plastic cup before the person touches the very top of the animal – thankfully avoiding the tentacles. The animal is rarely deadly to humans, but contact with its venom is incredibly painful and can cause pains in the chest and breathing problems. The animal’s venom still certainly packs a punch, and they can still sting people and animals weeks after they’ve died and washed up on beaches. While you’d think the creature would be a jellyfish, given its appearance, the Portuguese Man O' War are actually classed as siphonophores. If you thought petting one of the dangerous creatures was unwise, one influencer went viral a few years ago after licking one. Girl reduced to tears as single father dresses as her mom for Mother's Day
A Thai father has received warm messages for his gesture to his adoptive daughter by turning up dressed as a mum for a Mother's Day event at school so she wouldn't feel left out. In the heartwarming clip, Pratchaya Tadeebu can be seen wearing a dress and wig as he surprised his 15-year-old daughter Cream so that she wouldn't be alone for the Mother’s Day ceremony in school on August 12. Overwhelmed with emotion, Cream can be seen bowing down to Tadeebu before hugging him tightly for his meaningful Mother’s Day gesture. The clip has since gone viral with over 395,000 views, and a number of comments from people praising the father and sending messages of support to the father and daughter. One person said: "What a great blessing for this relationship! you both deserve the best, best dad." "My tears hmmm proud of you Best Dad to this kid," another person said. Someone else added: "I finally see there's such thing called loving father." @joey_kp "แม่" ฉันก็เป็นให้แกได้555 After surprising his daughter, Tadeebu spoke to a local Thailand news outlet about why he decided to do this. "Even though I am a single father and her stepfather, I always tell Cream that she is my daughter, and I love her like my own biological child,” he said. “I will do my best as both father and mother in order to take care of my girl.” He added that when the idea of dressing as a woman came up, he "felt no embarrassment at all," and added: "We always find ways to have fun together." Apprentice star causes debate for saying solo diners are ‘pathetic’ and ‘need to make friends’
A former Apprentice star has caused a stir on social media after calling solo diners "pathetic" who need to make friends. Earlier this week, Good Morning Britain delved into the divisive topic of solo dining which saw Ryan Mark Parsons go head-to-head with Kiss FM presenter Alex Mansuroglu, who believes it is "freeing". An opinionated Parsons did not hold back, sharing: "I think people that do it are pathetic. I think Alex is one of those losers that goes to restaurants alone, and it's weird. He continued: "I go to restaurants and see solo diners and I'm just uncomfortable. I question the motives, I think it's really really bizarre." Meanwhile, Mansuroglu explained: "I lead a very busy life, I have two kids at home. "If I can have a 30-minute Nando's to myself before I get home and then pick up a little takeaway for my kids and fiance, that's great, it's freeing. "People sometimes think I might have been stood up, I might get a free dessert in this, I might get 10 per cent off the bill, I think it's amazing and great," he added. A snippet of the chat has since been shared on TikTok, which saw thousands of users chime in with their opinions. Many of which hit back at Parson's take, with one writing: "So he needs constant companionship… no that’s odd". @goodmorningbritain Fans of 'solo dining' claim it promotes healthier 'mindful' eating as they focus on their food, rather than being distracted by chatter. Online searches for 'solo dining' soared by 357% in 12 months and the report by hospitality experts is urging pubs and eateries to cater for loners by playing background music to 'fill the void of no conversation.' What do you think? #GMB#goodmorningbritain#debate Another joked: "Wait until he finds out people travel alone". A third wrote: "He clearly isn't comfortable with himself if he can't do things like that alone, what difference is eating alone at a restaurant or at home". Others were quick to jump to the defence of solo diners, with one calling it "impressive." They commented: "I think the opposite, I think people doing things alone are impressive. They’re content in their own company and have the confidence to do it". Meanwhile, another quoted novelist Charles Bukowski, who famously said: "Beware those who seek constant crowds, for they are nothing alone." Dad left red-faced after passing out on kids' fairground ride
Thrill-seekers have long headed to amusement parks to get their kicks from twisting roller-coasters or plunging drop towers. But the kids’ zone is generally considered a pretty safe place for the whole family. And yet, one dad was apparently so overwhelmed with joy when he joined his kids on a fairground ride that he passed out cold while they were still strapped in. Lewis Conley Waterman was filmed beaming as he sat next to his toddler son and young daughter on a giant double-sided swing at a Butlins in Skegness. He enthusiastically raised his arms to get into the funfair spirit as the ride swung into action. And yet, just as his little girl was screaming and giggling with glee, he suddenly slumped to one side. Posting the clip to TikTok, Lewis wrote in a caption: “Still can’t believe I passed out on a children’s fair ride.” @lewisconley93 Passing out on a children’s fair ride #passedout #funny #fairrides #fypシ His video has now racked up more than 4 million views and 183,000 likes, with more than 1,000 commentators reminiscing on their own, similar experiences. “I remember when I went on this ride some people were screaming and I was falling asleep [because] of how relaxing it was,” one recalled. “I went on the tea cups and I passed out. No joke I’ve got a video,” wrote another. “I was so close to passing out on the Zipper and the Zero Gravity ride. My life flashed before my eyes,” admitted a third. Others expressed concern for Lewis, urging him to get checked out by a doctor and suggesting he might suffer from a condition called postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS). According to the NHS, PoTS is when your heart rate increases very quickly after getting up from sitting or lying down. The health service notes that the causes of PoTS are unclear, and that it can develop suddenly or gradually over time. “It can get better with changes to your lifestyle, but some people may need treatment with medicines,” it states on its website. Changes to your lifestyle? We guess that means no more trips to Butlins. Sorry, Lewis. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Is the Russian Sleep Experiment on TikTok real?
In today’s world, social media is usually the culprit for circulating conspiracy theories and stories. The recent viral discussion online is the Russian sleep experiment, as some wonder if it was real, after a video claimed a film covering the incident is being made. The story first surfaced on a Creepypasta forum. The post described to readers a Soviet-era experiment where scientist created a stimulant that allowed soldiers to go without sleep for 30 days. As the story goes, in order to prove and showcase the effects of the stimulant, five prisoners were selected and promised freedom at the end of the test. The five men were then locked in the chamber and gas was pumped inside it. However, the story reveals that the experiment did not go well as all the men began to experience symptoms of sleep deprivation. Halfway through the 30 day time period, the scientists conducting the experiment were forced to enter the chamber as there was no visibility due to the gas. When they opened the door one prisoner was dead and the other four had several horrific injuries that were presumed to be self-inflicted. Despite some belief that the Russian sleep experiment is real, it is in fact a work of fiction, as is almost all stories posted to Creepypasta. Stories are shared on the platform to scare readers, with the website initially reposting stories found on existing platforms such as 4chan and Reddit. Over time, the site allowed people to post anonymously and share their own stories. However, it is true that a movie has been based on the story. On Apple TV+ you can stream The Sleep Experiment if you’re in the mood for a horrifying watch. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy.
