Kai Cenat 'beyond disappointed' with rioters who caused mayhem at New York giveaway
Popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has expressed his disappointment at fans who rioted during his New York giveaway. On 5 August, Kai held a huge giveaway at Union Square that saw gaming consoles given away. More than 6,000 people were said to have attended the event which soon turned sour. Footage showed teens damaging cars, throwing objects, fighting and blasting fire extinguishers. Kai was escorted away by security as crowds became increasingly chaotic. He was later charged with inciting a riot, with a court date of 19 August. The NYPD arrested 65 people, including 30 minors, on counts from disorderly conduct to assaulting a police officer. "Being from New York, it has been my dream to want to give back to the community that made me who I am," Kai told his subscribers. "But after Friday, I’ve come to realise the amount of power and influence that I have on people." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter "I am beyond disappointed in anybody who became disruptive that day. None of that is cool," he continued. "None of that was my intention. I had good intentions for this whole thing. I don’t condone any of the things that went on that day." Kai then turned his attention to the media, saying that while he is able to handle anything towards him, that press should "leave [his] family out of it." "[There’s] no reason why you’re showing up to my mum’s house. I can handle it, whatever you want to say about me. I just don’t want you to be going to my mum’s house, she doesn’t even live in New York," he said. "I’m gonna have to chill for a bit," he continued. "You’re not gonna be seeing me for a bit, but it ain’t gonna be nothing long. I’ve gotta do what I’ve gotta do." Have your say in our news democracy. New Pokémon Wiglett toy raises eyebrows for obvious reasons
Pokémon has raised eyebrows and left people in hysterics with the design of the new Wiglett soft toy and it’s easy to see why. In the Pokémon world, Wiglett was announced as a new convergent species related to Diglett for the 2022 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet role-playing video games. It is a type of Garden Eel Pokémon that, with its long cylindrical length, has led to some unfortunate comparisons with the release of a new plushie toy. The Wiglett plushie is sold online by the Pokémon Center, but the long toy has caught the eye for all the wrong reasons as people have suggested it looks like a phallus. The website explains, “this long Poké Plush version of the Garden Eel Pokémon is ready to stand tall as part of your plush collection, perched on your couch, coffee table, or bookshelf”. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It boasts a “bendable body” that is 10 ¼ inches in length and has drawn some hilarious feedback online. One person wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Ok but who thought this was a good idea.” Many others made similar points. Someone else wrote: “So this Wiglett plush... It's certainly something!” Others were much more NSFW with their commentary. The hilarious plushie may have sparked some rather interesting comments, but despite that, it does seem to resemble the Pokémon character quite closely. Have your say in our news democracy. Who is Bobbi Althoff – the host of the 'Really Good Podcast'?
Bobbi Althoff has been taking over social media platforms across the globe lately with her hilariously awkward interviews on her Really Good Podcast. If you're an avid TikToker, you'll be familiar with the 26-year-old from California and you most likely would have seen snippets of her viral Drake interview that took place in a bed. But where did it all begin? Althoff pivoted from parenting influencer to podcaster earlier this year, with her very own Really Good Podcast. "I got the idea in April to start a podcast," she told Today's Jenna Bush Hager and guest co-host Justin Sylvester. "I’ve always done this character, which is dry humour. And I was like, I’m just going to bring her along for a podcast." The mother-of-two said she made a TikTok video saying she would transfer anyone $300 (£235) if they put her in contact with a celebrity. She has since gone off to interview the likes of Rick Glassman, businessman Mark Cuban and rapper Lil Yachty. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The podcast host also confessed to sliding into Drake's DMs and shooting her shot for him to be a guest and succeeded with over 30 million views on YouTube. Althoff candidly tells him she's never heard any of his music, asks if she's his type and where his child is at that moment. Drake: “You a th*t, Bobbi" www.youtube.com She told Cosmopolitan that while she already had an agency for brand deals, she was still "self-funding flights – everything." However, following the success of the episode, Althoff was approached by celebrity agency WME which manages actors such as Adam Sandler and Ben Affleck. Speaking about her newfound fame, she defined herself as "more of an entertainer and comedian." "I’m the worst journalist, and I don’t claim to be one. The podcast is supposed to be entertaining. It’s fun for fans to see my guests in a way that they don’t normally see them." Have your say in our news democracy.
