A large swath of American nurses want out of the profession, raising the threat of a mass exodus

Fast-fashion brand Shein has been accused of spreading "propaganda" after influencers were sent to China to walk around the company's factory to see how their clothes are manufactured. Shein invited influencers and Shein "ambassadors" to their "innovation" factory and warehouse – and many are criticising the influencers' posts about their trip. Many received backlash from viewers who say they were promoting propaganda about Shein's practices. One influencer known as Dani DMC said in an Instagram reel about the trip: "I was really impressed to see the working conditions [...] Shein is such a developed and complex company." Dani also claimed to have spoken to a worker who was "very surprised about all the rumours that had been spread in the US." Dani herself also said that the trip taught her to "think for herself" because "there's a narrative fed to us in the US." Another influencer AuJené, @itsjustajlove on Instagram, who was also invited on the trip, shared similar sentiments to Dani. In a reel that discussed her fourth day on the trip, she told viewers she had asked questions about child labour and said: "I found out there is an independent third party contractor that audits all of Shein's manufacturers they conduct over 2500 audits annually to make sure that they align with international laws when it comes to child labour and wages." "They work normal shift hours and are able to quit when they feel like it just like any other job," she added. "Seeing their authenticity even when the cameras were off was endearing to me and very important." Another said: "There's no way you're actually promoting this shameful brand... so disappointed, unfollow." "The propaganda is disgusting and incredibly embarrassing... we see right through the bulls**t!!!" Commented another. Dani posted a response to the criticism she had received saying: "No amount of money or opportunity would ever allow me to go against my morals or integrity. I wish you could be here with me and see the faces behind this brand. This company is run by majority women who are so genuine, humble, & beyond passionate about what they do. I wish you could see everything I’ve been able to see behind the scenes and be apart of the conversations I’ve been a part of. "Shein has done WAY more than any other fashion brand I’ve ever worked with to show their dedication to being one of the good guys. "If you need to unfollow me and can’t trust me on this one I totally understand and I support you." The company has previously been criticised for its unsustainable practices and mass production of items. Synthetics Anonymous 2.0, a report published on fashion sustainability, claimed that the manufacturers' use of virgin pouter and large consumption of oil produces the same amount of CO2 as roughly 180 coal-fired power plants. A documentary from Channel 4 titled, Inside the Shein Machine, found that Shein employees were often working 75-hour shifts with little time off. The documentary had undercover cameras that filmed workers making hundreds of garments a day. In one factory, workers made a daily base salary of $20, if any garments had mistakes their pay was cut to $14. In response to the documentary the fast-fashion giant admitted to the safety breaches in a statement: "We know we have a responsibility to safeguard the welfare of workers in our supply chain. In light of the recent report in the news, we launched an investigation into the claim that 2 of our suppliers has unacceptable working conditions at their facilities." Some social media users were quick to praise the nostalgic set, with classics including 'Mardy Bum' and 'Fluorescent Adolescent' going down a treat. Others, however, branded it "slow, lazy and offbeat." It wasn't just the music that drew attention from viewers at home. It was Turner's striking resemblance to Top Gear's Richard Hammond. And now people cannot unsee it. Fans immediately turned to social media to share their unexpected observation. "It is near impossible for Alex Turner to look any more like Richard Hammond than he already does hahaha," one person wrote, while another brutal viewer added: "Alex Turner tonight - when your order Richard Hammond on Wish." The band cancelled their Dublin gig after the singer came down with laryngitis, an illness where vocal cords become irritated and can affect the voice box. A subreddit has gained attention on social media after one of the moderators 'warned' a commenter for "overrating" a woman's looks. The subreddit called "True Rate Me" uses a strict numerical system to rate the physical appearance of users who upload selfies onto the website. The subreddit contains a guide for rating women and men at the top of its page and is strict when it comes to enforcing correct ratings. A tweet, originally posted by the account @kirbylarp, contained a screenshot from the subreddit showing a user receiving a "warning" for "overrating" a woman who uploaded her photo to the subreddit. The tweet has since been deleted at the request of the woman in the photo. After the subreddit went viral, users wanted to gain a better insight into how it operates, with many shocked and even "disgusted", whilst some tried to defend the page. Her post had 1.8k comments, and it seemed that any user who rated her seven or above was smacked with a "warning" for giving her too high a rating. One person rated her a seven. "I'd consider going higher, too, if it weren't for mods giving people warnings for anything above 7. According to this sub’s guide, I think you’re prettier than most of the 7’s there, and reading through comments, it doesn’t look like I’m the only one who believes that. I think it’s the mods being subjective with this one…" Another rated her a 6.2. "If you're really only 21, you need to start using sunscreen and daily moisturiser now," one brutal comment read. "Drink lots of water and stop smoking if you do. You're getting away with it, but in a few years, your skin is going to look so wrinkled/old." "5.8 attractive and above average," a third added. "Flaws include lips and skin (possible symmetry issues too). Facial harmony is well above average. The lower third bone structure and profile view are unusually good. Beautiful overall." According to the guide attached to the subreddit, a seven is in the top 2.5%. Actresses Tara Shahidi, Shay Mitchell, and Elizabeth Lail are all considered 7s. Model Emily Ratajkowski is considered a 7.5. "Somewhat uncommon and the most attractive women seen on a day-to-day basis," states the guide. "These women stand out from the crowd and may be able to model or be successful as an 'Instagram model' or influencer." It goes on to describe 7's as having "feminine and attractive" facial features but may possess flaws such as "bulbous nasal tip, slight asymmetry, long mid-face." Men also post photos of themselves for ratings, with a "male 7" being similar to that of a "female 7", but their flaws are considered to be "crooked nose, slight asymmetry, long mid-face, Negative Canthal tilt." Penn Badgley, Tony Chung, and Keith Powers were among those rated a seven. When those outside the subreddit discovered True Rate Me, many took to Twitter to express their shock at some of the comments posted: One user tried to explain that people on the subreddit aren't giving their personal opinions (or at least aren't supposed to) and that all users have to follow the guide. Others lauded those who upload their photos as "brave" people, whilst another user joked they were going to give all women a rating of 10: The subreddit states that it "aims to provide accurate and objective ratings, by implementing standards that give raters a common ground." They also disagrees with the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", they argue "beauty is more objective than subjective. Why do you think there is always general agreement on which celebrities are attractive and which are not?" In bold at the bottom of the subreddit's wiki page reads: "In order to promote accuracy, rating someone without referencing the scale (UNREALISTIC/SUGARCOATED ratings) may result in a warning and/or immediate ban."
