Radio presenter Chris Arnold has apologised after a slip of the tongue left him saying something rather explicit live on the radio. Arnold was covering Mel Everett on BBC Radio Somerset and was trying to tell listeners there was "lots to come" for them to enjoy on the night's show. But he accidentally said something else with a completely different meaning. "Hello, good evening, Chris Arnold here until 10pm. Hope you've have a good day, lots of come... lots to come tonight," the presenter said before pausing and saying "right, OK". Posting on Twitter/ X he apologised to listeners, writing: "I can only apologise profusely to the listeners for this deeply unfortunate slip of the tongue on the show this evening." Reacting to his post, people thought it was pretty hilarious. Fellow radio presenter Greg James, for instance joked that it was "always exciting to be live on air". An argument between the founder of Barstool Sports and American businessman, Dave Portnoy and the owner of the Dragon Pizza restaurant in Sommerville, Massachusettes has led to the pizzeria being flooded with reviews. In 2017 46-year-old Portnoy began an internet series called 'One Bite Pizza' where he does video reviews of pizza outlets throughout the United States. The popular series also has an app and its own frozen pizza range. Portnoy's series is usually well-received and has featured the odd celebrity guest and wholesome interactions with the public that have gone viral. However, his latest review has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. His review of Dragon Pizza took an unexpected turn when the owner of the restaurant, wearing a tight Star Wars t-shirt, stormed out onto the street where Portnoy was filming his review to berate the businessman. At this point, Portnoy was already a little disappointed with the food he had purchased giving it a medium rating of 6.4 but did concede that it could have been his fault for leaving it in the box too long. However, the mood soon changed when the owner confronted him. "Enjoy your pizza as any customer but I don’t appreciate what you do, coming in and judging a business with one bite," the owner yelled at Portnoy before telling him to move on. Portnoy argues back and forth with the owner, criticising his appearance and highlighting all the work and money he had raised to help and promote small businesses. Dragon Pizza has subsequently gone viral thanks to this interaction and flooded with negative reviews on Yelp which appear to have emerged since Portnoy shared his own review so it's hard to determine how genuine they are. Barstool Sports has since shared an article calling the owner 'one of the worst humans in history.' The owner previously responded to the argument a week ago (presumably when the review was filmed) with a stinging Instagram post where he wrote: "F@$K you and the Stool you came in on, Dave Douchebag. Your show sucks. You suck, and you truly are the classless tool I thought you are." In Portnoy's article he conceded that he wasn't everyone's "cup of tea" but questioned why the owner would pick a fight with him and "say that I'm bad for small business and bad for the pizza industry?" He added: "Like even my most ardent haters have to begrudgingly admit that I've done more for small business than 99.9 of private citizens in this country. It just shows how little this guy actually knows about me that he couldn't name 1 actual reason he really hated me besides "The New York Times." Doge Age: 13 years old Many people have pondered what man’s best friend might be thinking, and this unassuming Shiba Inu dog allowed our imagination to come to life. The Doge meme was overlaid with Comic Sans to relay the dog’s inner thoughts, often utilising poor grammar and spelling. Whether you Photoshopped Kabosu – the pooch’s name – used as a response or a standalone meme, Doge certainly made his mark on the world. Tiffany Gomas, the woman behind the viral "not real" rant on board an American Airlines flight, has now released merchandise to help victims of the Maui wildfires. In a post to Instagram on Thursday (31 August), the marketing executive shared a snap of herself in the T-shirt. "I’m so proud to support Maui Strong through Branding Aloha’s T-shirt fundraiser," she wrote. "There is so much healing and rebuilding to do. Do your small part to help and get your T-shirt today for $36. 100% of sales proceeds are going to the Hawaii Community Foundation". The post was flooded with comments praising Gomas for her efforts. "Way to use your platform. Beautiful inside and out," one commented, while another added: "Just bought some! Awesome you’re supporting Maui!" Meanwhile, conspiracy theorists took no time in accusing her of not being the real Tiffany Gomas. One person wrote: "But is the shirt real though?" Another said: "I’m telling you right now this not same woman" A third added: "Maui dies but your doppelganger lives on." The 38-year-old was recently spotted boarding her first flight since the 2 July incident in which she claimed a fellow passenger wasn't real. The “Girlhood” website is going viral on TikTok, but what is it and why are young girls flocking to the site? Being a teenage girl is hard at the best of times, but mix in social media, phones and other technology and it can be made even harder. But, equally, girls are now finding community and advice online thanks to the Girlhood website that has gone viral on social media. On the site, youngsters can find advice about anything from break-ups to school from “big sisters” who are older young women who have been through it themselves. What is Girlhood? The Girlhood website is a blog-style forum that offers young girls and teens the chance to get advice and help with issues. Girls around the world can communicate, share advice and vent their thoughts and feelings with peers. An influencer who splurged £130,000 on leg extension surgery now has regrets. Theresia Fischer, 31, added 5.5 inches to her height after claiming her husband encouraged her to do so. Fischer, who appeared on Germany's Celebrity Big Brother, spoke on the radio station MDR, where she claimed her partner said: "Theresia, you know I like big ladies. So I would really like this. You could get up to 14cm more." She continued: "[He would say] 'You can’t do anything without me. You need me'. And if you are told that 20, 30, 60, 70 times – then you believe that you are nothing without him." Fischer said she didn't even know such surgery existed until her husband brought it to her attention. The influencer, who was 5 foot 6 inches and is now 6 feet after the surgery, had adjustable telescopic rods inserted into her shins at the age of 24. "I am ashamed because I consented to an operation that I shouldn’t have had," she said. Around the time of the procedure, Fischer reportedly claimed the operation had improved her sex life and that she followed through with it after years of bullying as a teenager. She also previously described the grueling procedure to Bild, candidly sharing how the shin bone was broken and the calf muscles were split. "You stretch your lower legs independently by holding your knee with one hand and screwing your foot inward with the other hand until it clicks," she said. A Domino’s delivery driver has faced backlash after scolding a customer for not picking up their order from the store. Food delivery services are commonplace, especially in major towns and cities, and offer a convenient way for people to order food without having to leave their houses. But, one woman found she was being judged by the delivery driver for getting her food delivered a short distance. The incident was caught on a person’s doorbell camera when customer Ercina Rodriguez unexpectedly got into an argument with the person delivering her Domino’s order. In the clip, Rodriguez was asked by the person delivering her order: “You know the Domino’s is right there, right?” In an inaudible part of the clip, Rodriguez appeared to give her reasoning for why she opted for delivery, to which the delivery person replied, “Ok, that’s fair. People online are stunned to learn a diner was charged 'a**hole tax' on his food bill – but it's not all what it seems. In a popular Reddit thread that racked up over 40,000 upvotes, the man claimed his "dinner receipt had a message" at the Oregan restaurant. A photo of the bill showed a seemingly innocent string of meals, followed by "You're an A**hole" with a $15 "fine". Fellow users were quick to share their shock, with many hospitality workers expressing their interest in implementing the so-called fine into their workplace. "I wish we could charge customers for being a**holes. We would make so much money. People are garbage," one wrote. Fortunately, the poster soon realised the mishap and clarified in the comments: "My wife and I went to a restaurant for her birthday and we both had cocktails. I completely forgot the name of the cocktail by the time the receipt came but its name was 'You’re an A**hole, Mr. Burton' lmao it definitely caught me by surprise". The internet is full of weird and wonderful trends and memes, but one of the strangest by far is the Skibidi Toilet meme that has taken over social media platforms. If you’ve heard of Skibidi Toilet recently, chances are it was on TikTok or X/Twitter but many people may not know that the phenomenon started on YouTube. Skibidi Toilet is a meme based on a bizarre animated YouTube series with 59 episodes all about singing and dancing disembodied heads lurking in toilets. The series shows how the Skibidi Toilets have conflict between themselves and the so-called “Cameramen” – other people with CCTV on their heads, who are killed by the Skibidi Toilets. The YouTube show was created by user “DaFuq!?Boom!” and has over 27.2 million YouTube subscribers and some Skibidi Toilet episodes have upwards of 63 million views. The show is animated by Alexey Gerasimov, an animator based in Georgia. Since posting the first episode in February this year, the series has rapidly taken off. Its popularity seems to have got Gen Zers worried that they are getting old, as Gen Alpha is coming up with its own memes that they don’t understand. Gen Alpha, those born between the early 2010s and mid-2020s, are the next generation on from Gen Z (1997 – 2012) and are now becoming tweeners that have their own interests and online identity. Some have compared Skibidi Toilet to Gen Alpha’s Slender Man – a scary character that was popular among online youth in 2009. The emergence of Skibidi Toilet has left some Gen Z-ers realising that soon they will be facing the same mocking and ridicule they dished out to Millennials. It's 26 years to the day since Diana, Princess of Wales, died following a car crash in Paris, France along with her partner Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul. Diana was arguably the most famous woman in the world at the time and the level of devotion to her by the public will possibly never be seen again for a member of the Royal family. The outpouring of grief in the weeks that followed her death was unlike anything the UK has ever seen and the response was similar elsewhere around the world. One particular clip which sums this up is a now-viral video filmed by Alan Light who was playing cards with his friends in Iowa City, Iowa on that fateful night in 1997. Light was testing out his new camcorder and while everyone is in a good mood at the start of the video one of the friends does mention that Diana had been gravely injured because of the crash. They continue to play cards with CNN's coverage playing in the background. However, the atmosphere soon changes a few minutes into the video when CNN announces that Diana has passed away causing them to be utterly shellshocked by the news. The video has been viewed more than 10 million times on YouTube alone and is considered to be one of the first ever reaction videos, even though the men involved at the time weren't aware of that. Since sharing the video in 2021, Light has been inundated with questions about why he was filming at that exact moment. He recently answered those queries in the comments section of the video. He wrote: "I recorded this home video in 1997 the night Diana died and it sat in a box for many years. Why was I recording? I was trying out a new camcorder by recording friends playing the card game UNO. When my mom called me to say that Diana was in a car crash I turned on the TV, on silent, and we kept playing the game while monitoring the text on the bottom of the TV screen. "When the screen text changed to "Diana dead" the true reality of the situation hit like a ton of bricks and we stopped playing UNO of course, and rushed over to the TV. This was recorded in America, in the state of Iowa. All of the guys in the video are still alive today (as of today, June 6, 2022). "The guy who screams when he learns Diana has died is my friend Ken who still lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is his genuine reaction to the news of Diana's death. Some people call it a "Wilhelm scream." (Apparently that's a movie term). The guy who stifles a smile after Ken's scream is Scott (his brief smile was a reaction to Ken's loud silly scream, NOT to Diana's death). "When CNN announced that Diana had died I didn't turn the camera back to the TV because my instinct was that it would be more interesting to capture my friends' reactions. Some people call this video the first of what are now called "reaction" videos, a term that didn't exist in 1997 (and neither did YouTube, which began in 2005)." Car salesman based in Arizona Andy Elliot is going viral due to his unusual hiring requirement - all his employees need a six pack. He went viral on social media after a video of him sharing his standards for his employees at a conference was posted to Instagram. Speaking to an audience at the conference he says, “my entire team, if you don’t have a six pack , you don’t work for us. […] it’s called a standard. How about we raise them?” The video has over 88,000 likes, but the majority of comments took to mocking Elliot for his hiring method. One user wrote, “can’t work for me if you’re bald. Grow hair or get out,” for context, Elliot is bald. “Absolute cringe. I cringe every time this guy shows up on my feed,” wrote another. “Such an awful opinion,” said a different user. In a statement to the New York Post, Elliot clarified his words, “it’s not that we don’t hire anybody with a six-pack,” he explained. “We just have a standard that says if you’re gonna be a mentor to others in our company you’re gonna be your standard.” Elliot also seemingly is unbothered by those who disagree with him. “I mean, those are people sitting in their mom’s basement, you know, commenting or by the the way, or they’re people that are sitting there wishing they could kill it in life, just making excuses and not taking action,” he said. A father has been accused of setting his children up for years of confusion and bullying after he revealed the name of his new baby daughter. The mother of his first child explained what had happened in a lengthy Reddit post, branding his behaviour “f**king weird” and “spineless”. The Redditor began by offering some context, explaining: “I ended up falling pregnant with my 10-year-old daughter during a drunken hook-up with a friend in my mid 20s.” She added: “When we found out we decided to keep the child and co-parent while remaining friends. We were never a couple and we didn't want to be one either.” She then said that the dad and his partner of four years fell pregnant last year, and that she wanted her daughter and the new baby “to have a close relationship despite having different mothers”. “All in all, I thought everything was great and I was excited for my daughter to have a sibling as she's always wanted one but I had no interest in having another child,” she continued. Then, three days before her Reddit post, the woman said the dad’s girlfriend gave birth to a baby girl and they asked her to bring her daughter to the hospital to meet her new sister. “I did exactly that but when they introduced us to the baby I was shocked,” she wrote. This was because they’d given their little girl the exact same name as the first daughter. “[The girlfriend] didn't seem to have any issue with this when she introduced the baby bold as brass,” the Redditor recounted. However, she acknowledged: “My friend seemed uncomfortable and wouldn't look at me directly.” “I asked them what they were playing at, at which point my friend’s father said he'd take my daughter down to the cafeteria to get something to eat and left with her,” she went on. “My friend told me to calm down and not overreact while his girlfriend told me she didn't see the issue and it was a pretty name.” She then asked them whether they named the baby in honour of the older daughter – in an attempt to “understand the logic here” – but the girlfriend simply replied that “no, it was just a pretty name she liked”. “I then asked if they planned to use a nickname or a middle name when addressing to her on a daily basis and her response was that she didn't see a need for that,” the outraged mum continued. “I told them they were being ridiculous and that they couldn't do this, I then told his girlfriend that I found this frankly creepy and told my friend he was being spineless if he was happy to go along with this. “He tried to claim our daughter could use a nickname or something but I shut that down immediately, asking why it was more reasonable for a girl who has used that name for a decade to [change] her name compared to a baby who had no concept of what a name was yet.” Wrapping up her post, the Redditor went on: “His girlfriend told me I was being a b***h talking to her like that after she just gave birth and asked the nurses to remove me saying I was being disruptive.” She concluded by stressing: “I know that what they want to name their child is their choice [...] but this is one name that should be off limits or adjusted, they even have the same surname as they have the same father. “Something about it just felt malicious and deliberate as if [the girlfriend] is trying to replace my daughter.’ Her post on the AITA forum racked up more than 23,000 upvotes and 4,100 comments in just two days as readers voiced their horror at the father and girlfriend’s behaviour. “The same FIRST and LAST name is going to cause both those girls a life time of issues, especially with the same father,” one wrote. “ I usually would have a bit more sympathy for a woman who just gave birth but she seemed deliberately cold and cruel towards your daughter (her step daughter) to have done this.” Another suggested the mum should take legal action, saying: “I would tell your daughter's father that you will be going for full custody of your daughter and taking him for child support because you can no longer trust him to do the right thing by your daughter. “How can you trust that he wouldn't allow his [girlfriend] to treat your daughter poorly based on this behaviour?” they asked, adding: “I'm sorry but your daughter is never going to get treated right by her father's gf, she is already trying to replace your daughter by giving her daughter the same name.” A third agreed, accusing the dad of “thinking his partner is more important than his daughter”, and asking: “If this is how he's going to be now, how is he going to be when she's treating [the first] daughter like s**t?” And a fourth advised the mother to change her daughter’s surname to her own, writing: “I suggest you look into changing your daughter's surname to your own surname (or at least suggest she can do it when she's old enough). “At least they won't have the same full name, and she can get some distance from her creepy father.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy.
