The city of Philadelphia and its baseball fans might have cheered Philadelphia Phillies star Trea Turner right out of a massive slump.

On Friday night, Philadelphia Phillies fans stood up and cheered for Trea Turner in the midst of a miserable batting slump. If you believed the stereotypes of Philly sports fans, you'd have thought a player who went 0-for-12 in the most recent series would get batteries hurled his way, not cheers of support.

Instead, the .236 batter was lifted up by his town, and those cheers might have just brought him out of his season-long slump.

Then, on Saturday night, he paid the fans back for the cheers they gave him on Friday.

Trea Turner gets the best curtain call we've seen in a long time

This is everything you love about sports pulled into one clip. A struggling player digs deep to turn things around, shows up in a key moment, and shares that moment with the fans of a blue-collar city who paid their hard-earned money to see their team play.

The curtain call came after a massive home run in the sixth inning, Turner's first since July 8th.

Later in the game, Turner hit a ball in the gap to double and give the Phillies their final run of the night. He closed going 2-for-4 with four RBI and a flashy display of the leather to show on the evening as well:

Turner might have done the work, but he has the city of Philadelphia to thank for getting behind him and giving him the exact push he needed, too.

It'll be a long shot for the Phillies to catch up to the Atlanta Braves, who have a double-digit game lead in the NL East. But Philly is firmly in a Wild Card slot and can hold on, much like last year, to attempt to win their way as far as they can in the postseason. Turner coming alive could certainly stoke the coals on a push to protect that spot.

Good on you, Trea, and good on you, Philadelphia.
