CINCINNATI, OHIO: Aubrey Kingsbury will soon be representing the USA as part of the US women's national soccer team at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. The sports event is scheduled to take place from August 19 to August 27 at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.
Just a few days ago, the 31-year-old took to Instagram and wrote, “Bring on the World,” seemingly hinting toward the upcoming competition. Her post came as the US team fought hard against the Netherlands at the 2023 Women’s World Cup on July 27, which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
‘She's calm and clear in her communication’
US captain Lindsey Horan said after the match as reported by CNN, “I felt the momentum the whole time. I think the first half we could be a little disappointed in how we played but I think we fixed things right away. The pressure that we got on, the amount of chances and opportunities that came from it – so proud of the team and their response.”
As the team prepares for the World Athletics Championships, let’s take a look at Aubrey, who has been described as a “top modern goalkeeper” by Washington Spirit head coach Mark Parsons. In March, he said as per ESPN, “Distribution, she deals with crosses, she's calm and clear in her communication, her shot-stopping is outrageous, and then there's the icing on the cake with one-v-ones.”
Who is Aubrey Kingsbury's husband?
The goalkeeper is a married woman as she tied the knot with Matt Kingsbury in January 2022. She shared pictures of her marriage on Instagram with a caption that read, “1 Corinthians 13:1-8,” quoting verses about love from the Bible. Also in an interview, she reportedly asserted, “Our wedding was the perfect ending to 2021!”
Her social media post about their marriage attracted a lot of well wishes and comments with one user saying, “So beautiful! Congrats Aubrey and Matt!” Another one wrote, “Wow Aubrey you look beautiful! Wishing you and your husband a long life of happiness.” A third user shared, “Aubs you made such a Gorgeous Bride! What a Beautiful Wedding. Congratulations to you both!” “These are phenomenal!!” a fourth one remarked.
Matt is an alum of Shenandoah University, where Aubrey is doing her MBA. It has been said that she got to know about the University and the course from Matt after meeting him in 2019
Explaining the challenges she faces while being a player as well as a student, Aubrey reportedly stated last year, “Being a professional soccer player requires me to prioritize my sleep and recovery, so no all-nighters for me. I also have to make the most of my time while traveling. While most of my teammates may be napping or watching Netflix, I’m usually writing papers or reading textbooks.”
“It’s definitely not for everyone, and this isn’t something I could’ve done earlier in my career, but I’ve learned to compartmentalize,” she added.
