Who is Elly Conway? Swifties theorize Henry Cavill's spy movie 'Argylle' has a secret Taylor Swift connection

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Elly Conway is the author of the upcoming novel 'Argylle', which is the supposed base of a spy movie, starring Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard.

As the release draws closer, several Swifties have started pointing out references, which have convinced them that the author of 'Argylle' is none other than the pop sensation Taylor Swift, who is using the pseudonym, Elly Conway.

Why do the Swifties believe Elly Conway is Taylor Swift?

While Elly Conway’s debut novel ‘Argylle’ is expected to be released in January 2024, the film will be released in theaters on February 2, 2024, and Taylor Swift's fans are of the opinion that it would make sense to make a high-budget film based on an unpublished novel if the author is none other than pop sensation.

After the trailer of the movie was released, fans could not miss the hair color of the reclusive author played by Bryce Dallas Howard. She sports red locks similar to Swift’s hair color in the short film ‘All Too Well’ where the singer also plays the role of an author.

Fans also tracked the social media posts of both Elly Conway and ‘Chip the Cat’, apparently leading them to ample Swift references. For example, the first post from Conway’s verified Instagram was made on December 13, 2022, falling on the 'Blank Space' singer's birthday.

Moreover, "the real-life cat of supermodel Claudia Vaughn (nee Schiffer)," Chip, who plays Alfie in the film also has a verified Instagram account on which recently a meme was shared with Taylor Swift’s reference.

The Swifties also discovered that there is a fictional character called Elly Conway, played by Jodi Gordon, in a long-running Australian soap opera ‘Neighbours'. Notably, the character made her debut in the show on December 13, 2001, that is, Swift’s birthday.

Swifties love the idea of Taylor Swift being 'Argylle's author Elly Conway

The Swifties are eager to unearth the Easter eggs and have come forward with compelling theories of making the connection between Elly Conway and Taylor Swift, especially on X (formerly Twitter).

One wrote, "Streets are saying the new movie Argylle is based off a book taylor swift wrote under the name Elly Conway… and honestly I’m trying not to be delulu but it checks out."

Another said, "This taylor swift is suddenly a secret author / elly conway argyle plot is incredible."

"Okay i am obsessed with the elly conway theory i need author swift!!!! also… red haired taylor as an author in the ATW short film vs the author (played by BDH) in Argylle having red hair," stated a fan.

Another follower thought the name Elly could be a tribute to Swift's middle name Alison and said, "Seen some theories related to her being behind the book/movie “Argylle” authored by “Elly Conway” and that maybe it’s a pen name play off Alison."

"Why is no one talking about the rumors of elly conway being taylor swift?? like could she really wrote four books and we’ll get a movie based on one of them? argyle???? HELLO," noted one more.

"The cat bag who else would have a bag with a cat," pointed out a fan.

A person speculated, "If you check Elly Conway Instagram, the captions feel SO MUCH like Taylor's wording. but then there's one where she says she's "more of a dog person" and idk if it's to throw us off."

However, some Swifties weren't convinced that Elly Conway was Taylor Swift.

One opined, "There's one reason I don't believe this. Taylor wouldn't publish a book under a pseudonym. Owning/getting credit for her work has become too important to her, rightfully so. If/when she writes a book, she'll very proudly tell us."

Someone else chimed in, "I believe Ellie Conway is made up. That is not a real person. But my initial impression is that Ellie Conway is a pseudonym for a ghostwriter or team of ghostwriters hired by the filmmakers and NOT Taylor. The film people will try to use this theory to get money out of Swifties."
