Who is Miss Benny? Candace Cameron Bure denies she tried to remove gay character from 'Fuller House'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Candace Cameron Bure, known for her conservative beliefs, has refuted allegations suggesting that she attempted to eliminate the first openly gay character, Casey, from the Netflix series 'Fuller House.' Miss Benny, a transgender actress who played the character in question, claimed in a Tiktok video that the show's writers and producers informed her that Bure, 47, had been openly against the LGBTQ community and was determined to remove the character.

Miss Benny did not directly mention Bure's name but included it as a hashtag. Benny started by claiming that she had a meeting with the show's writers and studio, where she was warned about someone allegedly attempting to have the character removed and opposing the inclusion of a queer character in the show. Additionally, she alleged that Bure never engaged in conversation with her during the 'Fuller House' reboot filming and that she was cautioned about the possibility of facing backlash from the actress' right-wing followers. "I was also sort of warned and prepared that this person's fan base might be encouraged to target me specifically," Miss Benny said.

However, in a statement, Bure claimed that she never made any requests for the removal of Miss Benny's character. She said she "never asked Miss Benny's character to be removed" and "did not ask the writers, producers or studio executives to not have queer characters on the show," per Daily Mail. "'Fuller House' has always welcomed a wide range of characters. I thought Miss Benny did a great job as 'Casey' on the show," she said.

Regarding the lack of communication with Benny on set, Bure, who portrayed DJ Tanner in both the original ABC sitcom and the reboot, clarified that they did not have any shared scenes, which limited their opportunities for conversation during the filming process. "I wish Miss Benny only the best," she concluded.
