NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' host Sara Haines went on to prove that assumptions about a celebrity's love life or marital status often lead to a dead-end. Her long-speculated divorce possibilities were finally debunked through an Instagram Story that she shared on her official account.
The speculations came to a rise when the 45-year-old host stopped wearing her wedding ring on the talk show. The divorce rumors were then addressed by her during a Q&A session with her fans.
Who is Max Shifrin?
Sara Haines married Maximillian "Max" Shifrin, back in 2014. Shifrin is currently a commercial litigation partner at the law firm BakerHostetler. His profile on the law firm's website states, "Max devotes a substantial amount of his time to pro bono work. With a particular focus on appellate practice, he has represented many indigent parties in their appeals and has authored multiple amici briefs filed with various circuit courts and the U.S. Supreme Court."
He did his Bachelor's in History and Political Science from the University of Connecticut and went on to do law at the Brooklyn School of Law from where he graduated in 2010. He has been working with BakerHostetker since 2014.
Interestingly, Haines and Shifrin met through the online dating site OkCupid and dated each other for two years before deciding to tie the knot. The attorney revealed in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle that he made quite the unplanned proposal to 'The View' show host. “I didn’t have a big plan, I didn’t have a big production,” Shifrin said, “So I literally got up, crawled out of bed in my pajamas, and got on one knee on the floor next to the bed. And proposed awkwardly and without much charm at all.” Haines and Shifrin got married in a wonderful ceremony in the Bahamas on November 22, 2023. The couple shares three children between them named Alec Richard, Sandra Grace, and Caleb Joseph.
Sara Haines jokes about considering divorce
Haines posted a story on her official Instagram account that started a Q&A session with her fans saying, "Ask me anything! Miss you all." To that, one fan questioned the show host, "Why don't you wear your beautiful wedding ring?" referring to the host going ringless for her 'The View' appearances.
Haines responded to that with, "Originally, I took it off because I had gotten this rash. It's called wedding ring rash. Then it cleared up [and] then I put my ring on again." The host then went on to joke, "I got the rash again, and [I] felt the universe was telling me something, and so I got a divorce." There immediately followed the laughter of both Haines and her husband Shifrin who was sitting right next to her on their bed. She then confessed that she was just kidding while Shifrin admitted that it was a good joke.
Haines then asked Shifrin if her deciding not to wear the ring affected him in any way to which he said no. The couple shared that rings don't really define marriage in any sense at all.
