An optical illusion featuring a hidden number which everyone is seeing differently is confusing social media. Twitter user @benonwine posted the illusion of a black and white circle that shows hidden numbers which users can’t seem to agree on. The zig-zag pattern of the circle tricks the eye into thinking the image is moving, and the Twitter user captioned the picture: "DO you see a number? If so, what number?" Should I book an appointment with my GP?” Another said: “I can only see 528. Does that mean anything about my eyesight?” Another replied: “1528? What’s going on here?” Another user shared what number you see may be down to how your eyes work. He said: “I'm guessing the numbers you see depends on your 'contrast sensitivity' (different from what a standard eye measures).“It can be tested by opticians. Worth doing if you're struggling, as it can affect your ability to see at night, or in rain, fog, etc.” According to the Vision Centre, “contrast sensitivity is the ability to distinguish between an object and the background behind it. "Contrast sensitivity is different from visual acuity, which measures how clear your vision is at a given distance.” Amidst the debate and theories, one user joked the number is the “number of parties Johnson has had since the first lockdown”. The daughter of Captain Sir Tom Moore has revealed another controversy and Twitter/X can't get enough. Hannah Ingram-Moore said her family kept £800,000 from three books Captain Tom had written because he wanted them to retain the profits rather than donate them to charity. In an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV, which is scheduled to be broadcast on Thursday, she said her father wanted his family to keep the profits in Club Nook Ltd, a firm separate from the Captain Tom Foundation charity. The latter has been under investigation by the Charity Commission for more than a year regarding potential conflicts of interest, and concerns over mismanagement and legal compliance. Ingram-Moore told TalkTV: “These were my father’s books, and it was honestly such a joy for him to write them, but they were his books. “He had an agent and they worked on that deal, and his wishes were that that money would sit in Club Nook, and in the end … ” Morgan asked: “For you to keep?”, and she replied “Yes. The family told Morgan there was no suggestion that anyone buying the books, including the autobiography Tomorrow Will be a Good Day, thought they were donating to charity. The foundation was created to raise funds for older people, mental health and loneliness after Capt Sir Tom Moore, who died in 2021 aged 99, raised £38m for the NHS Charities Together cause by walking laps of his garden during the first coronavirus lockdown. Kim Kardashian has used a statement about the Israel-Hamas war to fly the flag for another humanitarian cause. Writing on Instagram, the influencer expressed sympathy for those caught in the unfolding conflict in the Middle East but urged people to also address "ethnic cleansing" in Armenia. Dedicating the message to "[her] Jewish friends and family," she wrote: "I love you. I support you. I have heard about how scared you feel during this time, and I want you to know you are not alone in this. “My heart is broken seeing the videos of these babies and families being terrorized and murdered in front of the whole world! “As human beings with a heart, how can anyone not be devastated by these horrific images that we will never be able to unsee?” She continued: “No matter who’s [sic] side you are on, or how you have been triggered by the horrors of these past few days, our hearts should always have room for compassion towards innocent victims caught in the cross hairs of warring over power, politics, religion, race and ethnicity,” she wrote. She added that she and her family are “praying for the safe return of hostages” and “for peace for all the innocent.” Then she brought attention to the people who are the “victims of an ethnic cleansing themselves” in Armenia. “They are in this moment also suffering from an extreme humanitarian crisis, and there are still prisoners of war being held captive or missing,” she wrote. Condemning the "indefensible violence" carried out by Hamas, she went on: "Although I know there is nothing, I can do to personally get rid of the pain of those who are suffering, my family and I are praying for the safe return of hostages, for those that have died and their affected families, for peace for all the innocent, and for the perpetrators of this indefensible violence to be brought to justice." She concluded her statement by urging her 364 million Instagram followers not to "judge" others for speaking out or staying silent at a time of crisis, and to check on the people they love. "My call to action today, something that we can all do, is simply to reach out to your friends, colleagues, and those in your community, those who are hurting, no matter what side they are on, check in on them and tell them you love them," she wrote. "I also ask that, during difficult times like these, not to judge who is or isn't speaking out, because everyone should be allowed to deal with times of crisis in the way that they feel most comfortable, whether it be privately or publicly." Her statement comes as the Israel-Hamas conflict escalates, with latest reports claiming Hamas murdered over 40 young children and babies. Israel has retaliated through air strikes in Gaza. A dermatologist has gone viral on TikTok for sharing body parts you should be washing more. In a clip that's racked up over 3.3 million views, Lindsey Zubritsky (@dermguru) kickstarts with the ears. She said if you have "an odour" when you place your finger behind your ears, you need to be washing that area more. If not, "flaking and dandruff" can build up and make the skin situation much worse. Up second is the belly button. Lindsey states that it "is a super common area to collect sweat, debris, dirt buildup," before sharing a gruesome image of a "navel stone" if you begin to neglect your belly button. The dermatologist then urges people to really take care of their nails. "When you’re showering, you really need to get under those nails with a scrub brush to get rid of the dirt, debris, and buildup," she told viewers. The manager of popular YouTuber KSI has claimed the star rejected over $300 million in sponsorships and brand deals. In an episode of True Geordie's podcast on 8 October, manager and Misfits president Mams Taylor lifted the lid on the staggering amount KSI (real name Olajide 'JJ' Olatunji) turned down. "JJ and I have rejected maybe 300 plus million dollars since we started working together," Taylor, who started working with the YouTuber in 2018, alleged. He suggested that the offers "didn't align with making [KSI] happy," or were too demanding. Taylor Swift’s music video for the 2017 song 'Delicate' has earned her a rather surprising comparison – former British prime minister Theresa May. The video, which has more than half-a-billion views on YouTube, features Swift dancing through a room full of smartly dressed people as the song plays in the background. But a post on X/Twitter has gone viral after comparing her to “a young Theresa May”. And they may have a point. People who take an interest in British politics could scarcely forget the moment when May, at the 2018 Conservative Party conference, walked on stage to Abba’s Dancing Queen. Her accompanying dance was one for the ages, and drew more than a little mockery on social media at the time. It was, in fact, a tongue-in-cheek reference to a widely shared video of May on a trip to South Africa months earlier, when she danced with a group of school children. Swift may not appreciate the comparison – though there are certain similarities between the two, and Twitter users were quick to point this out. Drake has hit back after internet personality and self-proclaimed misogynist Andrew Tate recently took a pop at Canadian men. The rapper, who is Canadian, was responding to comments by Tate, in which he said he doesn’t think Canadian men are manly. On an episode of his podcast, Tate said: “Imagine being from Canada. Imagine saying I’m a man. ‘From where?’ ‘From Canada.’ “What? That doesn’t go together. ‘What are you talking about? Wait. You’re a man? From Canada?’ Nah. Can’t be. ‘No, no, I’m a man.’ “You’re not, bruv. Of course not. There’s no men in Canada. F***ing joking.” Clearly, Tate, who is awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking, doesn’t think Canadians live up to his idea of masculinity. Drake didn’t seem to take too kindly to the comments either. The rapper commented on a clip from the podcast by writing “green light”. In slang, “green light” means putting out a hit on someone, or alerting people that people should attack or criticise a person in response to a perceived slight. And it’s not the first time Tate has criticised Drake. Earlier this year, he tweeted about the rapper’s pink nail polish, saying: “There’s a reason I deny meeting all the famous people who try to meet me.” Tate and his brother Tristan were charged in June along with two Romanian female suspects of human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. The suspects have denied the allegations. Drake, meanwhile, recently said he will take a break from music following the release of his album For All The Dogs. On an episode of the SiriusXM series Table for One, Drake shared: "I probably won't make music for a little bit. "I'm going to be real with you. I need to focus on my health, first and foremost, and I'll talk about that soon enough. "Nothing crazy… I want people to be healthy in life, and I've been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach. I'm just saying what it is. "So, I need to focus on my health, and I need to get right, and I'm going to that. I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on. "So, I'm going to lock the door in the studio for a little bit. I don't even know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer." As war ravages between Israel and Hamas, people have understandably taken an interest in the unfolding tragedy, sharing information about it on social media. Palestinian militant group Hamas sent fighters across the border to Israel and fired thousands of rockets in an unprecedented attack on Saturday. At least 900 people have reportedly been killed in Israel and more than 600 have been killed in Gaza, with dozens more taken hostage by Hamas. But not everything shared about this conflict on platforms such as X/Twitter can be characterised as information. Indeed, there has instead been a torrent of misinformation and fake news corrupting the internet, creating false narratives and warping people's minds. For instance, X/Twitter placed a "media manipulation" warning on a tweet by Ofir Gendelman, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that featured a 28-second video claiming to show Hamas firing rockets towards Israel during the latest round of violence - footage he said was evidence of a "war crime". However, it has since emerged that the video in question is at least two years old. The tweet has now been deleted. Meanwhile, the i reports that false reports that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had been taken to hospital circulated on the platform. A fake Jerusalem Post account circulating the reports has now been removed from X. CNN reports another viral video claiming to show Israel generals after being captured by Hamas fighter was viewed more than 1.7 million times by Monday. The video however actually shows the detention of separatists in Azerbaijan. Here are some more fake posts, as debunked by BBC journalist Shayan Sardarizadeh: One in five social media accounts participating in online conversations about the Hamas attacks and their aftermath are fake, according to Cyabra, an Israeli analysis firm. As reported by the Guardian, the company found that approximately 30,000 fake accounts have been spreading pro-Hamas disinformation or gathering sensitive details about their targets. “In times of war, social media becomes a propaganda battlefield; there is always an element of disinformation and exaggeration,” Emerson Brooking, senior resident fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab told CNN. “Today, X is the main platform where this online battle plays out.” "In crises like terrorist atrocities, wars and natural disasters, people tend to descend on social media platforms for quickly accessible information," Imran Ahmed, chief executive of the Center for Countering Digital Hate, told AFP. "(But) the flood of grifters spreading lies and hate to garner engagement and followers, combined with algorithms that promote this extreme and disturbing content, is why social media is in fact such a bad place to access reliable information." A new TikTok trend, dubbed the "girlfriend effect", features women showing off their boyfriends' "glow-ups" since they started dating. With over 58 million views, the "girlfriend effect" claims that once they find the perfect partner, they go through a "glow-up". Often from the help of their partners who upgrade their wardrobe and grooming routine. The trend consists of women showing the "before" and "after" photos of their partner, highlighting the change in appearance that occurred during their relationship, with the girlfriends taking the credit for the marked improvement. It also often involves implementing styling advice and improvements on their partners.
