Drunk-driver suspect claims his dog was driving the car
A DUI suspect attempted to switch car seats with his dog after being pulled over by police for speeding. Springfield Police stopped and approached the vehicle for travelling 52mph in a 30mph zone on Saturday (13 May). It was then the driver allegedly got out of the passenger side and claimed he was not driving. "The driver attempted to switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat, as the SPD officer approached and watched the entire process," a post from Springfield Police Department read. "The male party then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed he was not driving." The male driver was said to show clear signs of intoxication. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter When confronted about his alcohol consumption, he ran away from the officer before being apprehended around 20 yards from the vehicle. An officer from Springfield Police Department discovered that the man was lost in the area after driving from Las Animas to Pueblo. He was later found to have two active warrants for his arrest and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, driving while ability impaired, driving under suspension, speeding 20-24 over, and resisting arrest. "The dog does not face any charges and was let go with just a warning," the department joked in a Facebook post, before explaining that the dog was given to an acquaintance to be looked after while the suspect was in jail. Indy100 reached out to Springfield Police Department for comment, who highlighted in their post that the investigation is still ongoing. Have your say in our news democracy. Can you find the word 'dog'? Only one percent of people can find it
Can you find the word 'dog'? Only one percent of people can find it
Another day and another brain teaser is taking over TikTok, but can you solve this puzzle that only "one per cent" of people can? Along with trends and theories, puzzles, optical illusions and brain teasers have taken off on TikTok, testing users on their mental agility. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The latest one that has left 99 per cent stumped sounds very simple – find the word “dog”. But, the actual puzzle itself is much more tricky than it sounds with a 14 x 7 grid with a mixture of the letters D, O and G. What does the puzzle involve? The “Can you find the word dog” puzzle is presented like a word search and simply requires users to find the letters in that order. But, it is made exponentially harder by the mix of 98 letters in the grid that almost spell the word, but not quite. While the puzzle may seem almost impossible to solve thanks to the sheer random mix of Os, Ds and Gs, it is possible to solve it if you look hard enough. @pasillusion Can you find the word Dog?! What is the answer? Unlike other puzzles that have taken off on TikTok, such as the “find the fourth object” task, the “find the word dog” one actually has a resolution. For anyone unable to find it, the word is spelt out diagonally, with the opening letter D found on row three, eight columns in. The O can then be found on the fourth row, nine columns in. The G is on the fifth row down and can be found ten letters in. Why is taking off on TikTok? Much like other puzzles, the “find the word dog” puzzle is being reposted by users as a way of gaining followers and likes on the platform. Some users, for example, will say something along the lines of “Hit + for the answer” or say they will provide a clue once they reach a certain number of likes. Have your say in our news democracy. Mum flooded with support for announcing 'secret' plan to leave husband
A new mum has been praised for her bravery on TikTok after she revealed her plans to leave a toxic marriage. The woman, called Marta (@officialmarta_xo), shared a video of herself decked out in blue scrubs sitting down at a desk and looking determined. In an overlay to the clip, she accused her husband of prioritising his friends over his family, despite her constant pleas for help with their young baby. She wrote: “I've been begging for the bare minimum for MONTHS. He has time for his friends but not his wife.” She also suggested that he was dismissive of her, complaining: “[He] didn’t believe I’d put our newborn in daycare and start working.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter But, she confirmed, she had taken control of her life and got herself a job and financial independence. “Here’s to my first day at work and secret bank account,” she said. In a separate caption, she added: “Can’t wait to move [the f**k] out.” @officialmarta_xo Cant wait to move tf out #forthemen #forthemenonly Marta's video racked up more than 1.5 million views and nearly 130,000 likes in three days as commentators showered her with support or shared their own similar experiences. “Proud of you for this!! It's a huge step that many women including me are scared to take,” one wrote. “As someone who just got blindsided by their spouse with no money to myself… make the secret account. Trying to leave with nothing is so stressful,” another advised. “I got tired of expecting the bare minimum from a narcissist so I left and three years later I started my own business!” a third wrote. “I left with nothing, started from the bottom. I graduate in [seven months]. With a BA. Going for my master's. No regrets,” said a fourth. And a fifth confessed: “I’m trying to leave a relationship. I’m ok with starting from nothing. I had two job interviews this week. Here is to proving I deserve better.” Meanwhile, others stressed the importance of financial backups, even in the case of happily married people, with one writing: “I'm a firm believer of a secret bank account even if the relationship is okay because you never know.” Others offered tips on how to create a secret safety net. “Put the secret bank account in a trusted person's name. Mom or grandma,” one recommended. “Make the bank account a custodial account,” said another. “It can only have one parent on it and that parent stays the custodian of the account when you divorce.” Others expressed concern that Marta’s husband would see her post and that she would suffer as a result. “I hope he [doesn’t] see this,” one wrote. Marta replied simply: “He’s aware.” Have your say in our news democracy. Click the upvote icon at the top of the page to help raise this article through the indy100 rankings.

Rishi Sunak said his favourite band are The Beatles and the Partridge jokes were inevitable
Rishi Sunak has been compared to Alan Partridge after discussing his favourite band… The Beatles. The PM was asked to name his favourite musical group, and he told GB News reporter Darren McCaffrey that his favourite band was the fab four. Instantly, people compared him to Steve Coogan’s comedy creation due to one moment from the classic sitcom. In one telling scene from I’m Alan Partridge, the Norwich-based radio DJ is asked what his favourite Beatles album is. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter “Tough one. The 42-year-old was mocked online after a video resurfaced of him telling school pupils he is a “total coke addict” last year, before clarifying he meant Coca-Cola and not cocaine. In the footage, the chancellor can be seen telling two schoolboys: “I’m a Coke addict. A total Coke addict.” After a brief pause he clarifies: “Coca-Cola addict. Just for the record. Fox News are weirdly obsessed with the hyperpop band 100 gecs all of a sudden
The controversial, conservative channel Fox News apparently loves the obscure hyperpop duo that is 100 gecs. And if a tweet from vocalist Laura Les from 2018 is anything to go by, that means that those working at the news organisation – which has been criticised for its “anti-trans” agenda -“immediately are trans”. Heck yeah. For further context, a TikTok video went viral on Twitter after it showed a track from 100 gecs – made up of Les and Dylan Brady – playing out during an episode of The Five. Panellist Greg Gutfield then went on to say: “[They’re] probably the best new band out, 100 gecs. “If you want to listen to 100 gecs, get their new album.” That new album would be 10,000 Gecs, released back in March and complete with tracks such as “Dumbest Girl Alive”, “I Got My Tooth Removed”, “Frog On The Floor” and “The Most Wanted Person in the United States” – just so you know what you’re letting yourself in for. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The music video for the latter, released last week, is just as bizarre, with footage from Ring doorbells showing the band members sporting creepy Halloween masks and appearing to steal parcels from people’s doorsteps. 100 gecs - The Most Wanted Person In the United States {OFFICIAL VIDEO} www.youtube.com Anyway, this wasn’t a one-off appearance for 100 gecs on Fox News, as the track “Doritos and Fritos” – also from the aforementioned 10,000 Gecs album – was spotted on The Five in April. While some Twitter users were incredulous, others noted that Gutfield has hosted other unusual bands on Fox News in the past: No, we can’t believe what we’re seeing either. Each episode of Succession season 4 summed up with the best memes
Just three episodes into Succession’s final season and we were dealt the biggest sucker-punch imaginable. So the question instantly became, where do we go from here? Episode four began the answer to that question as the family gathered in Logan’s (or make that Connor’s…) apartment to thrash out their plans for Waystar Royco. Then, episode five's Norwegian adventure shook up the ground entirely, leaving us wondering if the conglomerate has a future at all. Episode six left us questioning the Roy brothers’ fitness to lead or whether they’re both on very separate but very real self-destruct missions. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter And whilst we were imbued with some optimism at the start of episode seven – at least for the future of Tom and Shiv’s marriage – that was pretty cataclysmically dashed by the end. Episode eight was packed with more stress and tension than we could handle on a Monday night, as ATN became a battleground for both the future of democracy and Shiv’s relationship with… well… everyone, and we witnessed Kendall lose his own internal moral fight. Influencer breaks down after ‘dream’ tattoo goes embarrassingly wrong
Influencer breaks down after ‘dream’ tattoo goes embarrassingly wrong
Many a story has been told of a tattoo that ended in regret, notably centering on drunken dares or unfortunate reminders of relationships gone sour. But one social media star was left “lost for words” – and in floods of tears – after her “dream” design suffered an unfortunate (or perhaps intentional) typo. Tia Kabir, 19, from Australia, told her 92,000 TikTok followers that she’d travelled all the way to Bali to get inked, saying: “I’ve been dreaming to get this tattoo because I just don’t get tattoos all the time, I get one every few months.” Then, pointing at the design on her arm, she explained: “It’s supposed to say ‘Angel Energy’.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter But instead, as we can all see, it says “Energy Angel”. Her lament racked up more than four million views and 127,000 likes in just two days, as fellow TikTokers shared their condolences and other thoughts on the mishap. @tiakabirr Im lost for words #tattoo #fypシ #fail #foryou “Sending you all my Engery you Angel,” wrote one wellwisher. “Honestly it’s not that bad it can still be meaningful and looks well done,” reassured another. However, hundreds of others were less understanding. “I mean angel energy isn’t any better,” wrote one unsympathetic viewer. “You know you can look at the stencil before they start tattooing right?” another pointed out. Indeed, countless commentators remarked that Tia only had herself to blame. “You didn't confirm the stencil with them before they started tattooing? That's on you girl.” “Moral of the story,” said another critic, “Get tattoos in your own country.” In an interview with news.com.au, after her video became a viral sensation, the teenager defended her alleged naivety at the time. She insisted that she’d provided the tattoo artist with a piece of paper that read “Angel Energy”, but it came up too big on her arm to be used for the stencil. “So after they made it a tiny bit smaller, somehow it flipped around saying ‘Energy Angel’ but I didn’t notice,” she said. “It was only after it was done that I checked it. It put me into shock.” In a separate interview with LADBible, she explained that she burst into tears when she saw the “monstrosity” on her arm, and her reaction caught the attention of fellow customers. "Even the staff were laughing and talking in their local language which brought me to tears," she told the site. "After asking reception what could be done the best I was told is that it has a different meaning and that the English is the other way around." She claimed that she’d been told she was entitled to a refund but, when she returned the next day, staff refused to give her her money back. In a subsequent TikTok update, Tia said she’d been bowled over by the attention her video had received and admitted that she found it all “kind of exciting”. She then reassured her fans that, “thank God”, her tattoo had been fixed and now reads: “Energy of an Angel”. She ended her clip by thanking her supporters for all the “unconditional love” they’d shown her, before addressing her “haters” only to stick her tongue out at them. What is 'turbulence' on TikTok? The bizarre trend explained
If you thought turbulence on a plane was bad, just wait till you find out what it means on TikTok. That’s right, a trend has emerged whose name was inspired by those unpleasant inflight jolts. Warning: This trend does involve some NSFW material. Head to the video-sharing app, and you’ll find a plethora of clips using the hashtag “turbulence” or close variations. Many of the most viewed options were created by content creator Just Jo, whose videos have been stitched and commented on by the likes of ishowspeed and Kai Cenat who have millions of followers between them. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Indeed, Just Jo is credited with kicking the whole craze off back in 2021. The streamer was performing a dance live on TikTok when he announced that there was a “whole bunch of turbulence” going on. Well, that doesn’t sound so bad, you may say to yourself, but the “dance” in question wasn’t your standard viral routine. Instead, it involved Just Jo slapping his penis loudly from side to side between his thighs – and thus, a new craze was born. Since then, he has published countless follow-ups, showing his skill at rhythmically clapping his gear, getting it to go at top speed, or simply explaining how it's done. @shackav He's unstoppable @JUSTJOOO Turbulence 😫 #justjoo #turbulence #thugshake #justjoofficial #viral #foryoupage Still, the one saving grace is that the… eh hem… physical mechanisms used to create the “turbulence” are never shown: the videos are filmed from the waist upwards. This leaves the viewer wondering if the slapping sound is really coming from the implied NSFW source, or whether it’s down to a pair of hands belonging to a hidden participant. Regardless, all we can say is this “turbulence” stuff is enough to turn anyone’s stomach. Have your say in our news democracy. Can you find the fourth object in this picture? No one can find the flower
A number of different puzzles have been circulating on social media - for example the egg, glove, envelope and crutch picture. Now the latest one to capture people's attention is all to do with an odd image of what appears to be Disney princess Pocahontas sitting on the toilet in a bathroom. “I’m sure you can’t find the 4th object,” the puzzle instruct and has a list of four different items to look out for in the image: A whistle, egg, brush and flower. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Sounds pretty straight forward right? @larry2k23 #CapCut #cocofun Well it is (at least for the first three objects) as the whistle is the toilet handle, the egg is on Pocahontas's necklace and brush is part of the princess's underwear. After this, you may have spent some time feeling impatient since finding the flower appears to be a trickier task. Though it turns out there isn’t actually a flower in the image at all. Following a similar pattern to other fourth object challenges, this is a silly social media prank to entice people in a bid to improve or boost their engagement on their social media profiles. Often this involves someone going live on TikTok and displaying the puzzle and then proceeding to change their profile picture to read “Tap the + to see it”. This is to try and encourage you to click to find the answer, but instead of providing answers, you are actually taken to their profile. Elsewhere, people cannot find the french fries in this image. Debate erupts over who was hotter - young Robert De Niro or young Al Pacino
Twitter users have been known to debate all manner of topics, but the most recent viral question saw users split over who they thought was hotter – young Robert De Niro or young Al Pacino. It was a question posed by Twitter user Ashely Reese who took to the social media platform to settle a debate at a wedding she was attending. Reese probably wasn’t anticipating that the tweet would go viral, drawing 277,372 votes and over 28 million views. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter She created a poll, explaining, “At a wedding and having a big debate rn. Please vote. Who was hotter?” with the two options being the American actors “Young Al Pacino” and “Young Robert De Niro”. In the comments, people made their arguments and posted pictures to support them. Despite Reese herself arguing for young Al Pacino to take the crown, not everyone was as convinced. Someone argued: “LOVE LOVE PACINO DOWN! But Mr. Bobby D eats him up EVERY TIME. He’s actively doing it right here.” Another urged: “The only right answer.” “This is the best a man has looked,” one Twitter user wrote of young De Niro. Others, however, vehemently agreed with the OP. One person wrote: “This is the correct answer, are half of you having some kind of episode, what on Earth.” “I’m sorry but all you saying De Niro are out of your actual minds, look at this gorgeous man,” someone else argued. Another wrote: “70s Al Pacino was one of the most beautiful people to ever exist on this earth.” In the end, the two acting legends could not be separated as the poll ended with a 50/50 percentage split of the votes. So, we'll probably never know the true answer to this question. Have your say in our news democracy.
