Confusion as social media believe singer Tom Jones is dead
People were baffled when news broke that Tom Jones had died aged 95, leading many to believe the Welsh singer had passed away. However, it was legendary entertainer Thomas John Woodward, known by his stage name Tom Jones. Awkwardly, social media was flooded with tributes for the Welsh singer, with one Facebook user sharing an attempt to fuel the rumour, writing: "At about 11 a.m. ET on Saturday (August 12, 2023), our beloved singer Tom Jones passed away. Tom Jones was born on June 7, 1940 in Pontypridd. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page." Many more people shared photos of the 'Sex Bomb' singer online with RIP messages, but The Voice judge is alive and well. Alongside the late composer Harvey Schmidt, Jones' Broadway musical lasted 42 years after opening in Greenwich Village in 1960. Heartwarming messages and memories soon flooded X (formerly known as Twitter). "One of my fondest college memories was when our choreographer would make us stretch to "Orphan in the Storm". In just under a decade Tom Jones, along with Harvey Schmidt, brought us The Fantasticks, 110 in the Shade, I Do! I Do! and Celebration. Incredible. RIP Tom Jones," one person penned. Another wrote: "RIP to writer/lyricist/director Tom Jones. He's most known for his Broadway musicals The Fantasticks, 110 in the Shade & Celebration. Great music and a wonderful legacy. Fans speculate about Drake and Bobbi Althoff’s ‘beef’ as podcast disappears
Fans have catapulted into a frenzy after noticing the Bobbi Althoff interview with Drake has disappeared from YouTube, with further claims the pair have unfollowed each other on Instagram. Althoff is the host of the Really Good Podcast, with a string of celebrities sitting down with the hilariously awkward 26-year-old. She recently opened up about shooting her shot with the rapper via DMs, asking him to appear on her four-month-old podcast. To her surprise, he agreed and the episode went on to rack up over 30 million views. In a bizarre turn of events, fans noticed the episode was removed on Sunday (13 August), with many taking to TikTok to speculate. TikToker Nicole (@nikkyupnext) suggested "something went down" between the pair. They also no longer appear to be following each other on Instagram. "People were loving the interview," Nicole told viewers. "After the interview, she went on to interview Lil Yachty, who is best friends with Drake, and Drake even FaceTimed Lil Yachty in the middle of the interview." Many people flooded Nicole's TikTok with theories, with one claiming: "She didn’t delete it, it just went private. So that means it’s a PR move." Another added: "I hope it’s a PR stunt cuz they are my favourite couple who aren’t a couple." Meanwhile, a third wrote: "Everything is a bit. This I’m sure has been planned since the interview. It’s a brilliant move. Whatever PR firm is handling this is doing a great job." Indy100 reached out to Bobbi Althoff's rep for comment. Have your say in our news democracy. Dwayne Johnson has shared how "completely heartbroken" he feels about the Maui wildfires in an emotional post on Instagram. The 51-year-old actor and former WWE wrestler took to the social media platform amid the wildfires that began on August 8 and have since spread at speed as a result of the high winds and dry land. In his video message, he began: “I know that by now all of you around the world have seen the complete destruction and devastation that has hit our Hawaiian islands – our island of Maui. “And I’m completely heartbroken over this and I know all of you are too.” He continued: “Everything that I’ve seen transpire over these past couple of days, everything that continues to transpire hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute, it’s all heartbreaking, “Thank you guys around the world for all of your love and your support, your light, your prayers. “Thank you for sending them to the islands of Hawaii, the people of Hawaii.” Along with his video message, Johnson also included images of the devastating impact the wildfires have had as well as the ongoing rescue efforts. Meanwhile, actor Jason Momoa - who was born in Honolulu - warned in an Instagram post to tourists not to visit the area at this time due to the ongoing crisis. “Do not convince yourself that your presence is needed on an island that is suffering this deeply,” he said. “Mahalo to everyone who has donated and shown aloha to the community in this time of need.” Have your say in our news democracy.
