'I do not apologise for having an opinion': Ne-Yo revokes apology for gender identity comments
Ne-Yo has released a lengthy video 'taking back' his original 'apology' for making comments about children and gender identity. The singer had previously appeared in an interview where he branded the idea of there being more than two genders 'a weird time'. "I need y'all to hear this from the horse's mouth, not the publicist's computer", he said. "First and foremost, I did not apologise for having an opinion on this matter... My intention is never to offend anybody. However, I'm entitled to feel how I feel." He concluded: "I will never be okay with allowing a child to make a decision that detrimental to their life." Lizzo admitted having 'rough' time in interview days before damning allegations
In an interview recorded days before lawsuit allegations were made public, Lizzo hinted that something was making her 'sad', prompting speculation she knew of the storm was coming. A pre-recorded 60 Minutes interview has been released, in which producers were totally unaware of what was to come. "Even today, I was having a rough day. I was sad and stuff earlier today", she told host, Tom Steinfort. "And I still feel like for some of reason, even if I'm having a bad day or I'm going through something, people still get good from it. Maybe I'm transmuting it or maybe I'm an alchemist." Doja Cat's recent behaviour is being ‘caused by a demon’ claims conspiracy theorist
Doja Cat has been behaving a little oddly towards her fans recently, and one conspiracy theorist on TikTok believes she knows exactly why. The rapper recently faced a backlash after speaking out about the practice of pop stars’ obsessive fan bases using collective nicknames to describe themselves. Doja Cat’s fans called themselves the "Kittenz". However, in a now-deleted post on social media platform Threads, the pop star said: “My fans don’t name themselves s***. If you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or f***ing ‘kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.” Now, conspiracy theorist Aja, who goes by ‘jayllah_bae’ on TikTok, thinks she’s found an explanation for her unusual behaviour towards fans, which has seen Doja Cat lose close to 250,000 Instagram followers over recent weeks. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Aja alleges that the rapper, real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, was “marked” and then “possessed” by a demon on her 27th birthday. The TikToker claims that her birthday was actually a “ritual for her soul”. @ajayllah_bae #dojacat is definitely going through a tough spritual battle “I don’t know what happened inside of her 27th birthday party, but she was marked and she was possessed, and that is why we’re seeing the Doja Cat we see now,” Aja said in the clip. “They did something to her and something literally jumped into her body and possessed the f*** out of her,” she added, as well as describing her masquerade-themed party as an “Illuminati gala”. Describing her subsequent actions as “sinister”, the TikToker also spoke about the musician's more recent weight loss, saying: “After that, I just started noticing that she lost a lot of weight. Doja Cat was always this thicc, juicy baddie [sic] and I mean thicker than cold peanut butter. “And I’m not f****** stupid, I know that sometimes people just change, but this s*** was like overnight.” She went on to post a follow-up video speaking about the “27 club ritual”, which is a list of celebrities who died at the age of 27. “See the 27 club is not just about death,” Aja said. “I’m talking about the 27 club ritual that [celebrities] go through to see if they’re either [going to] be young and impressionable forever and basically be a product for the masses, or are they going to end up dead, or are they going to transition into another part of their life.” It’s not the first time that conspiracy theorists have spoken about Doja Cat, after the rapper confirmed that she is not, in fact, a member of the illuminati earlier this year. Tributes pour in after Cha Cha Slide creator DJ Casper dies age 58
Tributes have poured in for DJ Casper, who died aged at the age of 58 on Monday (7 August) after his battle with cancer. The Chicago legend – whose real name is Willie Perry Jr – was famed for his classic 'Cha Cha Slide' that topped the charts in 2000. Speaking to ABC7, he spoke about the success of the track, saying he never expected it to be an international phenomenon. "When I first did it, I did it as an aerobic exercise for my nephew at Bally's," Casper said. "From there, it just took off. Elroy Smith from WGCI grabbed ahold of it," he said. "I have one of the biggest songs that played at all stadiums: hockey, basketball, football, baseball; they played it at the Olympics," Casper said. "It was something that everybody could do." He went on to discuss his health after being diagnosed in 2016 with two forms of cancer, "renal and neuroendocrine, which is kidney and liver." "They went in to try to do surgery, and they found out the kidney was connected to the main artery, so they decided not to do it," he said, adding they decided to "just treat it" instead. "I used to weigh 236 pounds, and I think I'm about 60 pounds less," he said at the time. "If you know me, you know I'm not going to stop. I'm going to continue to go. I'm going to continue to go until I can't go." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The sad news has prompted a flood of emotional messages online, with one person writing: "RIP DJ Casper, whose 'Cha Cha Slide' has been an immeasurable and integral part of seemingly every inter-generational celebration I’ve ever attended." Another added: "DJ Casper brought joy to so many with the 'Cha Cha Slide'. His legacy will live on through the countless celebrations and events where his music continues to unite people in dance. Why is MrBeast being sued by the company making his burgers?
YouTuber MrBeast is being counter-sued for $100 million by Virtual Dining Concepts, the company behind Beast Burger restaurants. MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, shared in June that he was going to be “moving on” from his Beast Burger restaurants in order to concentrate more on his snack business with his chocolate bar brand Feastables. Just over two years ago Donaldson partnered with Virtual Dining Concepts (VDC) to launch over 2,000 ‘ghost kitchens’ to make Beast Burger available across the United States. VDC are suing Donaldson for failing to honour his contractual obligations, as well as intentional tortious interference. The lawsuit was filed on Monday morning in the Supreme Court of the State of New York for the County of New York. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The suit, obtained by Variety, is a response to Donaldson suing VDC and its parent company last month, wanting to terminate the deal for his restaurant chain, alleging the burgers it served were called “disgusting,” “revolting” and “inedible” which damaged his reputation. Last week, VDC hit back at the suit claiming it was “riddled with false statements and inaccuracies”, as well as calling it “meritless” and “ill-advised”. “This case is about a social media celebrity who believes his fame means that his word does not matter, that the facts do not matter, and that he can renege and breach his contractual obligations without consequence,” the suit states. “He is mistaken.” The counter-suit claims that Donaldson had breached the parties’ agreements and interfered with business dealings. As a result, it has damaged the reputation of MrBeast Burger and VDC, turned away customers and ruined relationships with suppliers and vendors. The lawsuit also contains examples of deleted tweets from the YouTube star’s account where he writes that he wished to close the burger business, writing: “the company I partnered with won’t let me stop even though it’s terrible for my brand.” VDC was co-founded by Robert Earl, who is the founder and CEO of Planet Hollywood. The company has backed celebrity brands including those from Mariah Carey and Mario Lopez. Have your say in our news democracy.
