‘Monster’ 9ft catfish caught in Italy - but it won’t break the world record
A “monster” catfish has been caught in Italy’s River Po. The huge fish measured 9ft 3in, or 285cm, making it the largest ever to be caught. However, it will not break the world record, thanks to angler Alessandro Biancardi’s kindness. While the catfish surpasses the current record holder by 40cm, set by another fish pulled from the Po in 2010, Mr Biancardi decided to release his catch back into the river. He managed to pull the fish to the surface of the water and realised he had “hooked a monster” after a 40-minute battle. Love Island fans call for a certain phrase to stop already
It's officially Love Island season, which means the next eight weeks' worth of TV will have the nation in a chokehold and send social media spiralling. Monday's episode (5 June) saw the return of Maya Jama as host, welcoming 10 new singletons to the Spanish villa. Despite the buzz around the award-winning reality show, there's already one phrase viewers are over. As always, contestants were asked about their types on paper, which inevitably revived the "tall, dark and handsome" cliché. It didn't take long for Love Island fans to turn to Twitter to vent their frustration, with one saying: "Here we are again with this tall, dark & handsome". Another joked: "Ever contestant when asked their type: 'Tall, Dark & Handsome'". "Let’s officially retire 'tall dark handsome' as the type," a third viewer begged, while another simply said the "slogan needs to die". One person humoured: "Everyone cross 'tall dark and handsome' off ur bingo cards". Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter In other news, the hit show is introducing self-descriptions to offer blind and partially sighted audiences the opportunity to get to know this year's contestants. The self-descriptions are available on the official Love Island YouTube page. Additionally, ITV has been working with Lifted Entertainment (a part of ITV Studios) to ensure all forthcoming episodes are subtitled. ITV’s Director of Accessibility David Padmore said: "We’re always looking for ways to make our shows more accessible to our audiences. We hope that having these Islander self-descriptions and Villa tours available alongside the show will really help bring this summer’s Love Island to life for our audience." Love Island airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2. Have your say in our news democracy. Click the upvote icon at the top of the page to help raise this article through the indy100 rankings.

Mr Cleverly spoke of how much “life” has returned to Kyiv, having previously visited in the winter when it was “cold and dark”. “The Ukrainian people are not going to allow themselves to be broken by this,” he said of the war.

Who is 'The Driving Crooner' and why is he all over the internet?
The Driving Crooner is popping up all over the shop, but who is he? A good Samaritan who picks up people who are way over-the-limit on a night out and drops them home is the easy answer, but the reality? He's the biggest meme from the new season of 'I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson'. Each season of the Netflix comedy has enjoyed a breakout skit with perhaps the defining one coming from the first season; The infamous 'hot dog man' - who is omnipresent in the replies of anything a politician ever tweets. A perfect response tweet to the ever-evolving disaster that is the 21st century. However, the Driving Crooner from the new season - season three - could be about to blow that away, and honestly; for no good reason apart from it being excruciatingly funny in the stupidest way. It's not a response to anything. It's just nuts. This explainer is not going to do it justice. Here are the memes, stay for the explanation. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter As explained, the skit starts with a man offering his number to colleagues so they avoid drink-driving (an accident had occurred to a colleague). One colleague takes the man up on this and calls him. Smartly dressed, he arrives taxi-like, picks the colleague up and drives off, starting some small talk. So far, so normal - but with only minutes in the sketch remaining, so many angles appear. Firstly, the man announces himself as The Driving Crooner - and nods to the decals on his driver-side window (a fedora and a cigar). Then he starts to scream and alter speeds as the traffic flows around him at speeds that do not line up the decals with his head (the others are trying to make him look fake). Then a bunch of "frats" arrive in an SUV and tell him they are going to kill him. Then he almost breaks out into tears wondering how he is ever going to make money from The Driving Crooner idea (it's too good, you see). Finally, he berates a dog-walker for "trying to steal his decals" (he is 50yds away, minimum). It's the perfect Tim Robinson skit of an earnest idea presented to the world by a man who thinks the world revolves around him, only to find out there is genuine lurking threat, a bit of sadness, and a whole lot of chaos.
