Moment Man United executive refuses to pass trophy to Lioness Alessia Russo because it’s too ‘heavy’
A Manchester United executive refused to pass Alessia Russo her Women’s Player of the Year trophy as it was "so heavy.” John Shiels, chief executive of the Manchester United foundation, has apologised for comments he made on stage at Monday's ceremony (29 May). "I am mortified by this and want to apologise to Alessia, her teammates, and anyone else offended," Mr Shiels said. "I simply did not want her to drop it. However, on reflection, I can see why the comment has been misconstrued." The England striker scored 10 goals in 20 Women's Super League games this season. England World Cup squad: Millie Bright and Lucy Bronze included but Beth Mead misses out
Bethany England has been included in Sarina Wiegman’s England squad for this summer’s World Cup, while Beth Mead misses out. Striker England, who has not been involved for her country since last September, is recalled after scoring 12 Women’s Super League goals for Tottenham since joining them from Chelsea in January. But there is no return for Euro 2022 Golden Boot winner and player of the tournament Mead, having lost her battle against time after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in November. Millie Bright and Lucy Bronze, also sidelined of late, do feature in a 23-player list from which skipper Leah Williamson and Fran Kirby had already been ruled out due to injury.

This woman didn't want to be kissed on live TV. The presenter decided to kiss her breast instead
A woman playing Kim Kardashian in a French gameshow skit had her breast kissed on live television. Not just without consent, but actively against her will. The incident took place on the popular French TV show TPMP (Touche pas à mon poste!) in 2016, as part of project 35heuresdebaba ('35 hours of Baba'), in which TV presenter Cyril Hanouna tried to break a national record by appearing on air for 35 hours straight. Ironically, touche pas translates as 'don't touch'. Sign up to our new free Indy100 weekly newsletter Soraya was playing Kim Kardashian, in a parody of the Paris robbery. Game show host Jean-Michel Maire was playing the locksmith. When she was 'freed', Maire suggested that Soraya should kiss him as a form of compensation. She refused. They ignored her, and she continued to refuse. Explicitly. "No." "She said yes. She said yes." "I said no." And then they demanded that she justify her refusal. When she answered that people were watching, the presenters had a response ready. Well, we can do it backstage! Both men were laughing at 21-year-old Soraya, who was smiling uncomfortably and continued to pressure her for a kiss on the cheek. Eventually, Maire decided he would ignore her refusal, and go in for her cheek. When she turned her head away to avoid it, he ducked down and kissed her breast instead. The issue of consent issue is completely clear. There's no miscommunication or misinterpretation: no ambiguity. She said no. Twice. And turned her face away. The incident caused a slew of complaints at the time to the Conseil Superior d 'Audiovisual (CSA), the government body which regulates French TV and radio, which launched an investigation into the show. According to a spokesperson for network C8, which airs the 35-hour program, Hanouna asked Maire to apologise to her immediately after the incident, which Soraya says he did. French law defines sexual assault as 'any sexual act that involves violence, coercion, threat or surprise', and could incur a jail sentence of up to five years and a fine of 75,000 Euros. Representatives for TPMP declined to comment but told indy100 that there would be no press release or statement on social media.Have your say in our news democracy. 'This Morning scandal' compared to a Quentin Tarantino movie as drama continues
'This Morning scandal' compared to a Quentin Tarantino movie as drama continues
Piers Morgan has waded into the ongoing controversy surrounding the ITV show This Morning following the abrupt departure of Phillip Schofield and compared the drama to a Quentin Tarantino movie. The daytime tv show has been rocked by a series of allegations in recent weeks which started with claims that long-term hosts Schofield and Holly Willoughby were no longer talking to each other behind the scenes. Things came to a head on 20th May when Schofield announced that he would be departing the show after 25 years at the helm. On May 26th, Schofield then issued a statement stating that he had "lied to his colleagues" and during his time on the show was involved in a "consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague." Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Willoughby then countered this by releasing her own statement which said that it was "hurtful" that she had been lied to as she had questioned Schofield about the relationship rumours. Rumours have since persisted that the culture on the show was 'toxic' with Dr Ranj Singh saying that he had grown "increasingly worried" during his time on the program. Schofield has since claimed that there was "no toxicity" on the set of This Morning something that was reiterated on air by stand-in hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on Monday's edition of the show. With the dust still settling on the situation former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan said his two cents on the matter. On Twitter, the 58-year-old wrote: "I fear we’re now entering the Reservoir Dogs phase of the This Morning scandal… and it could end up with a lot of corpsed careers." In case you are unaware, Reservoir Dogs was Tarantino's first movie from 1992 and features a gang of criminals all trying to violently outwit each other after a bank heist goes wrong. It remains to be seen what the future holds for This Morning and all those involved in the show but we sincerely hope that it isn't anything like the bloody finale of Reservoir Dogs. That being said if someone did want to direct a movie about the This Morning drama then Tarantino would be our first pick. Have your say in our news democracy. Sir Lewis Hamilton: From Stevenage to seven-time F1 world champion
Sir Lewis Hamilton: From Stevenage to seven-time F1 world champion
Lewis Hamilton has become not only a household name, but one of the most successful drivers in the history of Formula One. The Brit holds a number of records, including the joint-most wins of the Driver's World Championship (seven times), the most race wins (103) and most podium finishes (192). It started when his father, Anthony Hamilton, bought him a go-kart aged six after the youngster faced racism and bullying in school, and he quickly excelled through the ranks into a worldwide sensation - even receiving a knighthood from the then-Prince of Wales for services to motorsport. Hamilton continues to compete for Mercedes, however, there is speculation a Ferrari future could be on the horizon for the champion. Click here to sign up for our newsletters.
