Kai Cenat 'beyond disappointed' with rioters who caused mayhem at New York giveaway
Popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has expressed his disappointment at fans who rioted during his New York giveaway. On 5 August, Kai held a huge giveaway at Union Square that saw gaming consoles given away. More than 6,000 people were said to have attended the event which soon turned sour. Footage showed teens damaging cars, throwing objects, fighting and blasting fire extinguishers. Kai was escorted away by security as crowds became increasingly chaotic. He was later charged with inciting a riot, with a court date of 19 August. The NYPD arrested 65 people, including 30 minors, on counts from disorderly conduct to assaulting a police officer. "Being from New York, it has been my dream to want to give back to the community that made me who I am," Kai told his subscribers. "But after Friday, I’ve come to realise the amount of power and influence that I have on people." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter "I am beyond disappointed in anybody who became disruptive that day. None of that is cool," he continued. "None of that was my intention. I had good intentions for this whole thing. I don’t condone any of the things that went on that day." Kai then turned his attention to the media, saying that while he is able to handle anything towards him, that press should "leave [his] family out of it." "[There’s] no reason why you’re showing up to my mum’s house. I can handle it, whatever you want to say about me. I just don’t want you to be going to my mum’s house, she doesn’t even live in New York," he said. "I’m gonna have to chill for a bit," he continued. Who is Bobbi Althoff – the host of the 'Really Good Podcast'?
Bobbi Althoff has been taking over social media platforms across the globe lately with her hilariously awkward interviews on her Really Good Podcast. If you're an avid TikToker, you'll be familiar with the 26-year-old from California and you most likely would have seen snippets of her viral Drake interview that took place in a bed. But where did it all begin? Althoff pivoted from parenting influencer to podcaster earlier this year, with her very own Really Good Podcast. "I got the idea in April to start a podcast," she told Today's Jenna Bush Hager and guest co-host Justin Sylvester. "I’ve always done this character, which is dry humour. And I was like, I’m just going to bring her along for a podcast." The mother-of-two said she made a TikTok video saying she would transfer anyone $300 (£235) if they put her in contact with a celebrity. She has since gone off to interview the likes of Rick Glassman, businessman Mark Cuban and rapper Lil Yachty. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The podcast host also confessed to sliding into Drake's DMs and shooting her shot for him to be a guest and succeeded with over 30 million views on YouTube. Althoff candidly tells him she's never heard any of his music, asks if she's his type and where his child is at that moment. Drake: “You a th*t, Bobbi" www.youtube.com She told Cosmopolitan that while she already had an agency for brand deals, she was still "self-funding flights – everything." However, following the success of the episode, Althoff was approached by celebrity agency WME which manages actors such as Adam Sandler and Ben Affleck. Speaking about her newfound fame, she defined herself as "more of an entertainer and comedian." "I’m the worst journalist, and I don’t claim to be one. The podcast is supposed to be entertaining. It’s fun for fans to see my guests in a way that they don’t normally see them." Have your say in our news democracy. New Pokémon Wiglett toy raises eyebrows for obvious reasons
Pokémon has raised eyebrows and left people in hysterics with the design of the new Wiglett soft toy and it’s easy to see why. In the Pokémon world, Wiglett was announced as a new convergent species related to Diglett for the 2022 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet role-playing video games. It is a type of Garden Eel Pokémon that, with its long cylindrical length, has led to some unfortunate comparisons with the release of a new plushie toy. The Wiglett plushie is sold online by the Pokémon Center, but the long toy has caught the eye for all the wrong reasons as people have suggested it looks like a phallus. The website explains, “this long Poké Plush version of the Garden Eel Pokémon is ready to stand tall as part of your plush collection, perched on your couch, coffee table, or bookshelf”. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It boasts a “bendable body” that is 10 ¼ inches in length and has drawn some hilarious feedback online. One person wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Ok but who thought this was a good idea.” Many others made similar points. Someone else wrote: “So this Wiglett plush... It's certainly something!” Others were much more NSFW with their commentary. The hilarious plushie may have sparked some rather interesting comments, but despite that, it does seem to resemble the Pokémon character quite closely. Have your say in our news democracy. Man discovers secret second family after taking DNA test for fun
A man discovered he has a whole second family after taking a DNA test just for the fun of it and uncovering a long-held secret. The man was left utterly shocked by the results of an at-home DNA test, ordered on a whim, that uncovered his grandmother’s past. In a post on Reddit, the anonymous man said he had heard stories of people uncovering family secrets, but truly believed it would not be him as he thought he knew all there was to know about his family. The man explained: “We had family secrets - my grandfather had been married before and had a child, my great aunt had a child who she had adopted. As far as we knew all those secrets were now known.” But, after he submitted his DNA, he soon found out there was a lot more to his family history. He continued: “One day I got a message from a woman saying she couldn't figure out how we were matched and I looked and realised there was a group of matches that didn't make sense. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter “Between us we used DNA painter to create a ‘what are the odds’, it took quite a while to do and by this point, I thought one of my grandparent's fathers wasn't who we thought. I ask my parents but no one seemed any the wiser. “One day DNA painter just clicked and I realised my mum's dad wasn't the person we thought it was. My grandmother is still alive, nearly 90. I spoke to her and told her I knew. She has dementia but her memory of these events are crystal clear.” The poster revealed that his mother was the result of a holiday romance between his grandmother and another man. The man had wanted to marry her, but the Redditor's grandmother had told him she was not in love with him. When the news finally came out due to the DNA test, it was difficult for the family to comprehend, but there were some positives alongside it. He explained: “It was a very tough month, my mum cried a lot but there was a huge relief too. The man she thought was her dad wasn't very nice to her and treated her differently to her siblings. Although it didn't make it right it did allow her to at least know why.” He added: “I am so glad this came out whilst my Nan was alive. She was able to tell us a lot of detail we would never have known. In all honestly it's brought a lot of peace to my mum and it's worked out well but it was still a huge shock which I couldn't have predicted.” Although his story had a relatively positive ending, the Redditor warned others about the possibility of finding out family secrets and urged people to be mindful of that eventuality. Model bullied for having thick legs uncovers health issue
A model has shared her battle with an incurable condition that causes struggles when walking – saying evil bullies call her “penguin.” Victoria Matosa used to work out tirelessly in the gym but didn’t notice any results, leaving her feeling deflated. She had no idea that a health condition was standing in the way of her fitness progress. At school, the influencer, who now has 4.3 million followers on Instagram (@soyvictoriamatosa), was bullied for the appearance of her “thick” legs, with peers giving her cruel nicknames. Feeling too “ashamed” to leave the house and wear certain clothes, such as shorts, Victoria sought out medical advice and was diagnosed with lipedema, an incurable disease that causes abnormal fatty deposits to build up unevenly in the body. Now, the 26-year-old is hoping to raise awareness about the condition and help others accept themselves. “I always had thick legs but it started to get worse after [I started getting] my period [and] I couldn’t even wear shorts outside the house, I felt too ashamed,” Victoria told NeedToKnow.co.uk. “I started to avoid going to the beach and only [wore] leggings and jeans, which made me very uncomfortable, [as well as] distancing myself from friends out of embarrassment. “Due to bullying and pressure to always be doing a lot of exercise to lose weight, I tried many restrictive diets, which resulted in me binge-eating. “I [used to] spend three hours in the gym until I reached exhaustion, giving up and then eating compulsively.” Victoria, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was diagnosed in February 2023. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Since then, she has experienced “heavy pain” in her swollen, inflamed legs, as well as feeling very tired in the knees. While “relieved” to finally have an answer for her unusual symptoms, she’s also been left sad knowing that the only options are to either have surgery or go on a restricted diet for the rest of her life. The influencer said: “It was a mixture of feelings – before, I blamed myself for not being able to lose weight in my legs, even working out intensely. “Now, I go to the gym and have an anti-inflammatory diet, but I don’t feel ready to [have an] operation, as I’d have to do three liposuctions. “I feel sad and discouraged with each passing day [but] I try to accept and love myself more.” While sharing her health battle online, Victoria has received lots of praise but has also experienced her fair share of verbal “attacks”. She added: “I’ve already suffered a lot of bullying on the internet, people didn’t like me because of my weight and my body. “I got tired of receiving messages of curses that only had the objective of hurting me. “This continues to be routine in my life, only different than before, because I don’t let these people make me feel like a monster. “In my love life, I’ve been very lucky. “I haven’t dated much but the relationships I have had never had insecurities with my body and they [my partners] made me feel very secure about myself. “I want to be able to help other women, because after revealing lipedema on Instagram, I had several reports from women who felt bad and didn’t know they had this.” Have your say in our news democracy. Meaning behind 'pink and grey' dorm explained
People on TikTok are hating on “pink and grey” dorm room aesthetics after a video went viral, and here’s why. Moving into your room and decorating it to your taste is one of the most exciting moments of a young person’s time at university. But, according to a viral TikTok, your choice can communicate a lot about you to the people you are meeting for the first time. A clip that was shared by @abigailand_ and has been viewed 8.5 million mocked her sister, who is freshman at college, for choosing a pink and grey colour scheme for her dorm room. Text overlaying the clip read: “Watching my college freshman sister pick out pink and gray for her dorm room colors (I can’t interfere it’s a canon event).” The term “canon event” on TikTok refers to an event from your past, typically embarrassing or bad, that helps shape the person you become. The clip showed her sister sitting among her items such as cushions, bedding and even Tupperware in the pink and grey scheme. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter @abigailand_ According to comments on the post, the pink and grey colour scheme is the choice of a “basic” person, as people argue that loads of girls decorate their dorm in the same way. Some have previously said it is similar to the way lots of young men have navy blue bed sheets. The pink and grey dorm interior has been referred to for years, with one tweet from 2020 reading: “Are there any incoming college freshmen who AREN’T doing pink and gray themed dorm rooms lol” Another suggested: “Fun drinking game: take a shot every time you see a pink/grey themed dorm room.” According to TikTok, having a pink and grey dorm room is a right of passage for many girls and the trend apparently shows no sign of slowing down. New footage shows what happened before Tiffany Gomas went on her viral 'not real' rant
The American Airlines 'not real' woman, identified as marketing exec Tiffany Gomas, has gone viral yet again in newly surfaced footage. To recap, on 2 July a distressed Gomas was recorded leaving her seat and heading towards the front of the plane. She pointed at a passenger and shouted: "That mother f**ker back there is not real." After weeks of online speculation and attempts to identify the passenger, she was eventually named. There have since been conspiracies, TikTok trends and even merch dedicated to Gomas' phrase. But, the reason behind her meltdown remains in the air. Now, in a closer angle shared on YouTube from a fellow passenger, Gomas can be seen talking with a flight attendant. "Stop the f***ing plane. Stop the f***ing plane, stop the plane," she said. Later in the clip, a passenger can be heard asking: "What’s her problem?!" Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter American Airlines “Not Real” Lady (Full Footage) www.youtube.com Another part of the clip shows Gomas attempting to walk down the aisle, but an attendant stops her and tries to calm her down. "I need to get the f*** off this plane right now," she said. She then refuses to return to her seat, saying: "I’m not sitting by that man." When Gomas walks back to her seat, she tells a fellow passenger: "See what happens after this. See what happens. See what the f*** happens after this." "Things aren’t right, I’m telling you, things aren’t right," she continued. The attendant calmly tells her: "What we’re going to do is, you accused someone of taking your belongings, you can file a report. That’s what I’m trying to tell you." "I’m getting the f*** off because there is a stupid f***ing dude on here." According to The New York Post, which viewed documents linked to the incident, the 38-year-old refused to leave the plane despite suggesting in her rant that she wanted to get off. "The female then started claiming the aircraft was not safe and did not want the aircraft to leave due to her believing it would not make it to its destination," the 2 July complaint read. "Due to the statements the flight attendants felt the aircraft needed to be rescreened. [The airline manager] explained that the passenger was denied boarding and they wanted her escorted to the public side." Have your say in our news democracy. Lil Tay's ex-manager calls for 'cautious consideration' over reports of influencer's death
Lil Tay’s former manager has called for “cautious consideration” after a statement was posted on the influencer’s social media stating that she had died. A message was posted on the 15-year-old’s verified Instagram page which shared the news that the influencer, real name Claire Hope, and her brother had died. However, Lil Tay’s father, Christopher Hope, told Insider that they couldn't confirm whether she is actually dead. Her former manager Harry Tsang also said he could neither "confirm or dismiss the legitimacy of the statement". The New York Post also contacted the Vancouver Police Department and were told there were no reports of death for either Claire or her brother, saying “As of now, we are not aware and are not investigating.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The Instagram account had been controlled by Lil Tay’s brother Jason Tian in the past, with the account previously posting baseless allegations against her father and a custody dispute. "It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire's sudden and tragic passing," the statement read. "This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock. Her brother's passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief." "During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother's passing are still under investigation." However, when approached for comment, Christopher Hope declined to answer when asked if his daughter was still alive. Man refuses to move from his cinema seat so mother could watch Barbie with her daughter
A man has questioned whether he was in the wrong for refusing to move from his seat at the cinema to allow a mother to sit next to her young daughter to watch Barbie together. In a post to Reddit's "Am I the A**hole?" forum, the man outlined the situation and wanted to see if other people agreed with his actions or not. Like many people recently, the man went to the cinema with his girlfriend to go watch the Barbie movie after purchasing their tickets a few days in advance. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The couple ensured they got seats next to each other which were located in the middle row, however things didn't go exactly to plan upon arrival. "When we got into the theater a woman and her daughter were in our seats. I’m not sure how old the daughter was but she looked about 5 or 6," he wrote. "I let the woman know that they were our seats and I even showed her the tickets. She said when she purchased her tickets they only had two seats available, one in the front row and another in the far back He continued: "She said she wanted to sit next to her daughter and she didn’t want her sitting that far away from her so she asked if my girlfriend and I could swap seats." In response, the man told the mother that it "wasn't [his] problem and [he] paid for those seats," and added how he "politely asked" her to move from their chair. "The woman said she understood I paid for the seats but I didn’t have to be rude and inconsiderate." Another cinemagoer overheard the conversation and offered to swap seats with the mother and daughter. "As we were leaving the theater my girlfriend said she felt bad for the woman and giving up our seats would’ve been the right thing to do and I was being a bit inconsiderate." "At first I didn’t think I did anything wrong, I paid for those seats and the woman purchased the tickets knowing she wouldn’t be able to sit with her daughter." The man concluded: "Now I’m starting to feel a little bad because of what my girlfriend and the woman said. AITA?" Since sharing his situation, everyone appears to have sided with the man and so believes he's not the a**hole because he had booked the tickets in advance and believes the mother should have done the same if she wanted to sit next to her daughter. One person said: "NTA the woman should have chosen a different movie time instead of assuming people would move for her. She was being inconsiderate to her own daughter in the situation no one would move." "NTA. The woman purchased the two tickets far apart," another person said. "It was her decision, and it was a bad one, as her child is too small to send off to sit by herself." Someone else added: "NTA. Poor planning on their part does not constitute an emergency on your part." "They could have planned better or chosen a showing at a different time. You were not required to switch seats. Not sure I'd want to if I went to a movie with my SO as I'd want to watch with them." "NTA. I am a parent. If I can’t find seats together, I don’t buy the tickets. This applies to plane tickets, movie tickets, live theater tickets," a fourth person commented. "Her lack of planning should not be your problem." Have your say in our news democracy. Wild Alabama riverboat brawl prompts folding chair and 'Black Aquaman' memes after footage goes viral
At least four people have been arrested after footage of a wild brawl in Montgomery, Alabama, went viral across social media. "There’s a possibility more will follow after the review of additional video," the police told The Independent. The incident occurred on August 5 near Montgomery Riverfront Park and was captured by several witnesses before being broken up by Alabama police. The alleged turn of events saw two men having an argument with a Black dock worker. Things soon escalated before many more people jumped in to seemingly defend the man. In one piece of footage, one woman claimed: "These white people jumped this black security guard at the Riverfront. The staff got off the boat and it turned into WWE Smackdown. I’m so proud of Montgomery." Another person shared a different angle of the brawl, writing: "I HATE when people jump people a majority of the time, & even more so when you want to fight or jump someone for doing their job. I applaud EVERYONE that helped that man out." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter People were thrown into the water and folded chairs were smashed over people's heads. The footage prompted X users (formerly known as Twitter) to do what they do best: Memeify it, with the 'inventor' of the folding chair being the centre of memes across the net. In 1911, Nathaniel Alexander patented a design of the chair for schools, churches and "in small towns when somebody tries you," one person jokingly quipped. As the jokes rolled in, many users highlighted that the image "of Alexander" was in fact Lewis H Latimer, who invented many things including the light bulb filament. Warning: Some readers might find the below images distressing. There were more than a few wrestling memes too given that folding chairs are a very common weapon in sports entertainment. The internet couldn't get enough of the man who swam from the boat to help, dubbing him 'Black Aquaman.' Trust us, the internet is obsessed with this brawl. There have even been recreations. And a song too. The Montgomery Police Department have since revealed in a statement that several people have been detained with charges pending. Officials "acted swiftly to detain several reckless individuals for attacking a man who was doing his job," Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed said in a statement. "Warrants have been signed and justice will be served." Reed continued: "This was an unfortunate incident which never should have occurred. As our police department investigates these intolerable actions, we should not become desensitized to violence of any kind in our community. Those who choose violent actions will be held accountable by our criminal justice system." Have your say in our news democracy. Island Boys called out by fans for sharing more disturbing intimate content
The Island Boys have sparked further backlash after pushing more inappropriate content that has disturbed fans. The twin sibling rappers, Kodiyakredd and Flyysoulja, whose real names are Franky and Alex Venegas first rose to fame in 2021 thanks to their viral track 'I’m An Island Boy' becoming a hit on TikTok. Now, they are instead turning heads for some questionable OnlyFans content that includes footage of them kissing, sparking backlash. Weeks later, Flyysoulja came out as gay. The brothers have continued to share controversial content, hinting at a NSFW intimate act between the two, but it is suspected that it may not be what it first appears. In a since-deleted video posted on the No Jumper Instagram page, a screenshot appeared to show Flyysoulja taking a selfie in the mirror. In the picture, his brother crouched by his crotch area suggesting that a sexual act was taking place. A large emoji was placed over the intimate area. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The screenshot comes from a video posted by Flyysoulja onto social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that was captioned: “He got skills.” The video showed Kodiyakredd with an object that looked like a carrot or a hot dog, suggesting the video was a prank to trick fans and thankfully revealed he was not near his brother’s genitals. Many were shocked by the Instagram screenshot and suggested that it was a bizarre prank to pull, even if it was fake. One person wrote: “Even if this is fake why on earth would you do thi… never mind.” “Man, what the !!” said another person. “I had to close my phone and throw it away after this dawg”. It seems that Flyysoulja isn’t shy about sharing his junk on the internet, as he recently sparked backlash for exposing himself during a live Kick stream with Adin Ross.
