'Saw Patrol' set to be the next 'Barbenheimer' as new movie double bill trend goes viral
It’s the movie event of the year, and “Barbenheimer” has given cinemas a huge boost over the last few weeks. The hype for both Barbie and Oppenheimer is showing no signs of slowing down, but it’s now become clear that it’s not the only unlikely pairing set to take over theatres at the same time in 2023. Later this year, another two incredibly dissimilar films are coming out at the same time – Saw X and PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. Both are set to be released on September 29, and it could be another case of film fans queuing up for a very diverse double bill. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Barbenheimer brought us some of the best memes of recent times, and film lovers are wasting no time in getting Saw Patrol trending too. Saw X is bringing back Tobin Bell’s John Kramer, with the film acting as a prequel to Saw II. The film’s official synopsis states that we’ll see “a sick and desperate John Kramer travel to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer — only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. “Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.” PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, meanwhile, is the follow up to the 2021 big screen adaptation of the hit children’s TV series. Zoo in China forced to deny their bear is someone in a costume
A zoo in China has been forced to deny that one of their animals is actually a person in a costume. Hangzhou Zoo responded after a video of a Malaysian sun bear sparked debate online, with some claiming that it wasn't a creature at all, but a person in a realistic bear suit. The bear, which goes by the name Angela, is seen standing on its hind legs much like a human would in the clip before a gathered crowd of guests. Many people won’t be familiar with the particular breed of bear. Sun bears are the smallest in the world and the largest only measure 50 inches tall when standing on their hind legs. They are unusual looking creatures, and the sight of them has made some people pretty suspicious – but the zoo has denied the rumours completely. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter “Some people think I stand like a person. It seems you don’t understand me very well,” the statement read The zoo went on to claim that if it was someone in a costume, they’d never be able to cope with the heat – which reaches more than 100 degrees fahrenheit in the summer. “If a person did wear a bear costume, they would be lying down within minutes due to the heat,” they said. China also recently recorded its highest temperature ever after country reached a blistering 52.2C in Sanbao, Xinjiang. The spokesperson for the zoo also stated that members of the press were being invited to view the bears for themselves this week. The zoo has denied it is a person in a costume – but we do know for sure that one man in an animal costume has been making headlines earlier this year. A man who spent $22,000 transforming himself into a collie has hit back at online trolls who have called his desire to be a dog a “fetish”. The Japanese man named Toco has had a lifelong dream to become a collie and has dropped several thousand dollars in order to do so. But, since taking his first public “walk” in his newly transformed state, haters online have told him he needs “therapy”. Have your say in our news democracy. Man who 'transformed' himself into a dog barks back at trolls who say it is a 'fetish'
Clips of Toco walking around as a dog went viral as he did tricks like rolling over, playing fetch and other dog-like actions. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter On Twitter, someone wrote: A Japanese man spent over $20K for this border collie costume. You cannot convince me this isn’t some weird sex thing.” But, Toco has hit back at online haters, arguing that it is simply his hobby and there is nothing nefarious about it. Dogs and people's reactions to seeing a realistic dog costume! www.youtube.com Toco explained: “I’m just sad that people can think that. I love animals and enjoy play-acting like a collie.” He continued: “This is my hobby, so I will carry on. It makes me happy and other people happy, too.” Toco revealed that he has been dreaming of transforming into a dog since he was a child. He said: “Do you remember your dreams from when you are little? You want to be a hero or a wizard.” Toco continued: “I remember writing in my grade school graduation book that I wanted to be a dog and walk outside.” In order to achieve his dream, he spent 2 million yen on a hyper-realistic collie costume made by the company Zeppet, which usually takes commissions from TV and film studios. The final costume took 40 days to make and involved multiple revisions to get perfect. However, Toco does understand that some people will find his hobby strange. In one video, he said: “I haven’t told anyone about my transformation into a dog,” adding, “I am still afraid that my friends will find my hobby bizarre.” Have your say in our news democracy. AI generated modern Mona Lisa slammed for catering to the 'male gaze'
As artificial intelligence has become a bigger part of the cultural conversation many have used its power to create art, a subject that’s been highly controversial amongst artists who accuse AI of stealing and profiting of their work. The most recent AI art to go viral is a depiction of what Da Vinci’s iconic Mona Lisa would look like today, and the result is… interesting. The AI version showed a lot of changes. Clearer sing, wide eyes, a bit of makeup and a lot of cleavage. Many men seemed suddenly attracted this version of Mona Lisa leaving comments such as “now I’m interested in art” and “would” about a non-existent version of the famous woman. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter But many were critical of the picture. “Y’all notice how ai art is very much catered to target the male gaze…” commented one user. One user said the image was “a very funny illustration of AI bias,” and that this other Mona Lisa “makes a starker point about AI and art.” He goes on to say that, “real art challenges or re contextualises - it is an act of original thought. “Most AI tools can only please. They cannot subvert or invent unless so programmed.” Many seemed to agree with one tweet amassing over 80,000 likes for critiquing the image saying: "not this what she would like like according to porn addicts." Another user joked about what the actual Mona Lisa looks like today: The creator of the image Gianpaolo Rosa has addressed the controversy surrounding the image claiming that it was made to "honour Leonardo Da Vinci's masterpiece" but regonised that the sexualisation of women is "sad" and "problematic" but hopes that the image can open a dialogue about how we "perceive art and women." AI art has long faced criticism and many argue that it often shows AI's limitations, rather than its capabilities. Many say it lacks originality and creativity, often producing work after being 'fed' the real work of artists. Harry Woodgate, author and illustrator of Grandad's Camper, said to The Guardian in January: "These programs rely entirely on the pirated intellectual property of countless working artists, photographers, illustrators and other rights holders." Conspiracy theorists now think the heatwave isn’t real
As a heatwave take over much of America and Europe, with seawater in Florida reaching 100 degrees or more, much of Greece on fire, and July set to be the hottest month in living memory, some are still putting their head in sand about climate change and what the heatwave means for our Earth. Some right-wing conspiracy theorists have suggested that the heatwave is in fact a hoax and the numbers being reported are false. GB News presenter Neil Oliver has accused the BBC "and others" of "driving fear" by using "supposedly terrifying temperatures", in a clip that has been viewed over 2 million times. Oliver claims that the reported temperatures of "40 this and 40 that... were obtained using satellite images of ground temperatures," he said. "That's never been the temperature that's used in weather reporting and forecasting." Many conspiracy theorists have latched onto the temperature reported by BBC from the interior of Sicily (47C) and a weather station in sea-side Palermo (37C) from the BBC weather app, as proof that the BBC is faking its data. The BBC disputed the claims, stating that ground temperatures "are not used in the BBC's weather reporting and forecasting" unlike Oliver's false claim. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Oliver also retweeted other claims that climate data is manipulated and false, showing he is just one of many who are promoting such conspiracies. Former Fox News commentator Steven Milloy called it the "heat wave hysteria hoax": Some conspiracy theorists in the UK have argued that the heatwave and climate change are a hoax due to most of the country facing heavy wind and rain during the summer: However, the heavy rain fall during typically warmer and drier months is another sign of climate change's effects. 'I helped my wife through her cancer battle now she wants to sleep with another man'
TikTok and Reddit combined have been left stunned by one man's revelation about his wife who has asked if she can sleep with another man despite her husband helping her through her cancer battle. In a post shared on the off my chest subreddit a man shared the trauma that he has gone through while helping his wife through uterine cancer. In the viral post, he wrote: "My wife and I have been married since 2001 and together since 1999. She is the most intelligent, thoughtful, caring, loyal person I know, and I have always thought of myself as fortunate to have met and married her. She is, even today, aesthetically beautiful and men have told her this throughout our marriage. She has always shot them down. "Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer, stage 1 and had a full hysterectomy. I was never concerned about the cancer, it was diagnosed early, dealt with quickly and she made a full recovery. I took time off work to look after her after the surgery and all seemed well. There were some to-be-expected emotional instances on her part and although I am not an emotional person, we dealt with them together." Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter After helping her through her recovery, the couple vowed to 'live their life to the fullest' and began taking trips to places such as the UK, Spain, Portugal and Belize. She even began to take up yoga, swimming and healthy cooking classes but things soon turned sour between the pair. He continues: "Last week she came home from work and told me she wanted a “hall pass”. A one-time opportunity for her to have sex with someone else besides me. She said that since her cancer diagnosis her outlook on life has changed and she doesn’t want to be handcuffed from doing things she wants do. "She explained that there is this guy at her work that she has always had some attraction to. He is leaving the company and she will never see him again, so this is the perfect opportunity to sleep with someone else. She said that I could say no of course but that she would “be mad/disappointed at me for an indeterminate amount of time and that it would be confirmation of my male toxicity and insecurity. "I don’t consider myself to be toxic and if not wanting your wife of 20+ years to have sex with someone else is insecure than I guess I am insecure. I told her that I appreciated her talking to me about this but approval via coercion is not approval. I also said that I do not appreciate her language in describing my, as of yet, unknown reaction to this very large issue that could affect the rest of our marriage/life." His wife eventually apologised for making him make the decision and instead decided for herself that she was going to go through with it and booked out a hotel room where her co-workers were having a sending-off party for the other man in the equation. She told her husband that she hoped he would still be there when she returned and that she would be willing to answer any question he had about the night. He concluded: "Part of me thinks, at least she has been honest with me and she has been through a lot since finding out she had cancer so maybe I should just let it happen. I certainly have no concept of what she went through so I cannot dismiss how this affected her mental state/outlook on life. Part of me wants to put my foot down and say this is not going to happen and deal with those consequences when they happen. Her BFF called me callous for even suggesting that I wouldn’t let it happen, because I have no idea what she went through. I find it hard to believe that she is OK with the possibility of throwing away 20+ years of marriage over some guy that she has had no relationship with outside of work and that I should just call her bluff. Maybe she thinks similarly that I won’t throw away the marriage because of one encounter. I just don’t know what to do. I empathize with her and then an instant later I am angry with her. "Part of me wants to know who this guy is? What does he look like, what has he got that is so enthralling for her. Is he just a safe option? Is he married? Does his wife know? Would I be a callous asshole for saying No? What can I do besides walking away?" @creekyquestions I stuck with my wife through her battle with cancer, and now she wants a hall pass. #creeky #minecraftparkour #reddit #redditstories #redditreadings #askreddit As you can imagine, the man's predicament has stirred quite a debate with many people feeling a great deal of sympathy for the man and offering their own advice. One Reddit user wrote: "You're not callous or insecure - changes to the marriage requires two yesses, and if there's one no, either that item doesn't happen or you get divorced. Unfortunately, your wife has decided that she wants to be single and is doing this so you will leave but she won't take the blame of being the one choosing to end the marriage because she gave you a heads up first. That's why her friends are on her side about it." A second added: "This will only be the first of many. Leave now. She clearly doesn’t want to be in a relationship; she basically told you I don’t care what you say or think I’m having sex with this man. Your marriage as you knew it is over. Time to move on." A third said: "My dad was diagnosed with Cancer last year. Instead of wanting a hall pass from my mom, his wife of 30 years, he wanted to spend time with family more. Just because she got a diagnosis doesn’t excuse this. If she is asking for a “hall pass”, I would “expelled” her and move on from my life. She is gaslighting you by saying she is “disappointed”. If she is speaking this into fruition, she WILL do it. She gave you a heads up. I’m sorry." Have your say in our news democracy. Porn star Riley Reid defended after being shamed for filming with 'fanboy' in hotel room
Pornstar Riley Reid has claimed that she a colleague managed to convince a fan to come back to their hotel room and film a scene with them. 32-year-old Reid shared a photoshoot of herself and OnlyFans creator Rara Knupps on Instagram on Friday wearing matching lingerie, lounging suggestively on a sofa and drinking champagne. Man who 'transformed' himself into a dog makes new friends in public for first time
A Japanese man, who spent £12,500 transforming himself into a dog, has begun to take his first steps outside into public life and has immediately made his own set of four-legged friends as well as some human ones. The man, known only as Toco, has spent around two million Yen on the hyper-realistic border collie outfit in order to live out his dream of "becoming an animal." In the most recent video on his YouTube channel, which has more than 31,000 subscribers, Toco can be seen playing in public, rolling around, performing tricks and interacting with other dogs. As the video progresses, he can be seen being led around by his handler on a makeshift leash (more of a trolley) as other dogs sniff him and people take pictures. Toco writes: "My name is Toco, I wanted to be an animal and I became a collie. This channel will bring you such an unusual video. This video was shot last year when I was interviewed by RTL, a German TV station. Thankfully, I received permission to use the videos, so I am releasing them to the public! On the day of the interview, they were very kind to me. Thank you very much!" Dogs and people's reactions to seeing a realistic dog costume! www.youtube.com Many people in the comments to the video were fascinated by the other dogs' reactions to the costume. One person wrote: "I love how we can witness dogs experiencing the uncanny valley, that is phenomenal. Besides that, if even dogs are unsettled it says a lot." Another said: "Even the dogs know something ain’t right" A third added: "The dogs were not fooled lol. That must’ve been freaky for them." In December 2022, when speaking to the Daily Mirror, Toco admitted that he's now concerned about what his friends will think of him now that he has undergone his transformation. Greta Thunberg recreates Barbie scene while protesting UK government oil plans
Climate activist Greta Thunberg has recreated a scene from the Barbie movie while protesting new plans from the UK government about the proposed Rosebank oil field. In a video shared by the campaign group Stop Cambo, which aims to prevent new oil & gas extraction, Thunberg and her fellow environmental activists can be seen outside a UK government building. The four activists then recreate the scene from the Barbie movie where Margot Robbie's stereotypical Barbie has a big blowout party at her house but is overcome with existential thoughts of death leading her to ask her friends: "Do you guys ever think about dying?" In Thunberg's recreation, the text overlay has the 20-year-old Swede ask: "Do you guys ever think about the climate crisis?" As in the movie, the question leads to an awkward pause but the awkward pauses don't come from other Barbies and Kens but instead Rishi Sunak, Grant Shapps and Equinor a Norwegian energy company that runs the Rosebank oil field. The caption for the video reads: "For a safe climate and affordable energy, richer countries like the UK must stop expanding oil and gas production. But UK ministers @rishisunakmp, @grantshapps and oil giant @equinor wants to open the massive Rosebank oil field. This one project would produce more CO2 than the world’s 28 poorest countries do in a year. We can stop it." Rosebank lies west of the Shetland Islands in Scotland and was discovered in 2004. If regulators approve the plans, production in the. area could begin as early as 2026. Have your say in our news democracy. Ben Shapiro is fuming that Polly Pocket is 'feminist garbage' before the film has even been made
Right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro is appalled that Lena Dunham is set to direct a Polly Pocket movie after the success of Greta Gerwig's Barbie, already calling the film "feminist garbage". In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, titled "more feminist garbage coming to a theatre near you", the 39-year-old spent the latter part of the 10-minute video complaining about the newly announced movie, after he'd spent 40 minutes (plus another 40 in two more videos) criticising the Barbie movie which has gone on to make $500 million at the global box office in a week. It was announced this week that Lena Dunham was set to direct a 'Polly Pocket' movie starring Lily Collins. Not only was Polly Pocket announced but Mattel also said that Barney, Hot Wheels, American Girl Dolls, and more were also getting the movie star treatment. "Now we are getting the Polly Pocket movie that is going to be directed by Lena Dunham, who is a trash person," Shapiro exclaims as he discusses the announcement. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Not only does Shapiro seemingly not like Dunham as a person, but he also takes issue with Dunham, who he views as an "adult director", directing a children's film. "Lena Dunham is not a director of children's film, she became famous for the extraordinarily sexually graphic HBO show Girls." More Feminist Garbage Coming to a Theater Near You www.youtube.com "Mattel execs say that there's already a great script. I doubt that because they certainly did not have a great script for Barbie." Speaking of the other movies in the works from Mattel, Shapiro bizarrely accused them all of having an agenda to push progressive ideas such as feminism, LGBT+ rights, and climate change: "I assume that American Girl will actually be turned into a feminist icon who scorns America and believes that America was founded in 1619. "Thomas and Friends will be about a gay train or something. And Barney will be about a purple dinosaur railing against global climate change which is putting his friends and family in danger because people drive cars. I can only imagine this is where they're going with this." Since Shapiro's first rant about Barbie, Gerwig has responded to some of the right-wing criticism by saying: "Certainly, there’s a lot of passion. My hope for the movie is that it’s an invitation for everybody to be part of the party and let go of the things that aren’t necessarily serving us as either women or men." Cam girls reveal the weirdest requests that they've ever been sent
Streamer and Only Fans content creator Ashley Tea, took to Twitter to ask cam girls what's the weirdest request they/ve ever been asked, and it was definitely eyeopening. The replies were full of cam girls sharing the weirdest requests they've got from clients, some seeming almost unbelievable, one woman simply commented "where to start..." However, the majority seemingly had that 'one' request that stuck with them, and they were kind enough to share them with the internet. "Someone ask for a custom where I turned them into a turkey. cooked them in the oven, and then ate them from their PoV," one woman commented. She added that the request came when she first started out as a creator and is "honestly sad" that she didn't accept the request at the time. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Another cam girl shared that she "had someone ask me to take my hair extensions and clip them to a thing and pretend I had really long butthole hair." Many couldn't believe the request and asked if she had fulfilled it, but she explained that she hadn't because "he wanted me to do to for $35 so no. My base charge is 150." In the more shocking requests shared, one said that "a guy asked me to dissect a frog in my fanciest lingerie, did not do it lol." "My time has come," replied one cam girl to the question of what was her weirdest request. "I was asked to film myself pooping in a box, send him the poop, get in a call, and instruct him how to eat it. I said 'Sure! For $5,000.' 'I can only send $100, goddess." Another user replied asking her to clarify that if he had the money, would she have done it. "Yeah Probably!" She responded. Another creator shared that she had been asked for a video of her "driving in my car, seat close to the steering wheel, talking the whole time about how afraid of the airbag I am." This request went one step further, however, with the client asking for "a sequel 2 years later, where I am NOT afraid of the airbag anymore, and actually, I feel BETTER all scooted up!" Whilst many shared the strangest requests they had received, many said that they felt they couldn't even share the weirdest content they'd been asked to make, claiming it being too taboo for the mainstream internet.
