Who is Joe Bartolozzi? 21-year-old Bartolozzi is an American YouTuber, TikToker and streamer who has grown a social media following thanks to his amusing commentary and content. He boasts a staggering 22.5 million followers on TikTok where his clips have racked up 1.8 billion likes. Since creating a YouTube channel in 2020, Bartolozzi has gained 1.46 million subscribers, while his other social media platforms also have millions of followers and lots of engagement. So, when fake rumours suggested that Bartolozzi had died, it didn’t take long for the phrase “Joe Bartolozzi dead” to start trending as people tried to get to the bottom of it. But, his fans were quickly reassured when Bartolozzi continued to post on his social media channels. A groom has divided the internet after posting about his experiences leading up to his wedding day, revealing that he told his wife he wanted his ex-boyfriend to be his best man. The anonymous man wrote on Reddit and explained the context behind a disagreement he’d caused with his wife-to-be. The 27-year-old said that he was bisexual and hadn’t told his partner that he used to be romantically involved with one of his close friends. He wrote that the paid had dated for "less than a month" before deciding they were better off as friends. Since I popped the question we've been busy planning, and one of the first things we decided was our wedding party. As a result, people have come up with other creative reasoning behind choosing another one of the options - with a few believing the answer could be which time is closest to the written word "midnight." (In that case, the answer would be number one since it is typed out closest to "midnight" on the paper). While some may have been caught out by choosing number one, as they wrongly believe 11:55 am is closest to midnight when actually this would have been true if it had been 11:55 pm - not am. YouTuber The Hardest Geezer had been dealt a serious blow while running the entire length of Africa dealt a serious blow after being robbed at gunpoint. The Hardest Geezer, real name Russ Cook, is attempting to become the first person ever to complete the feat as part of “Project Africa”, with money being raised for charity. However, on the 64th day of his journey, he revealed he and his crew had been robbed at gunpoint by two “desperate” men. Cook wrote: “Nothing like a gun being pointed at your face to let you know you’re alive. American YouTuber MrBeast has opened up about how he was almost a passenger on the ill-fated Titan submarine after being invited onboard by OceanGate. The Titan submarine went missing on 18 June after it lost communication with the ship on top of the water during its descent to see the wreckage of the Titanic on the sea floor. On 22 June, the US Coast Guard announced it had found debris from the submarine and concluded it had suffered a “catastrophic implosion”, killing all five passengers onboard. MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has revealed how he could have been one of them, explaining that he was offered the opportunity to go in it. In a tweet, MrBeast shared the invitation he received and wrote: “I was invited earlier this month to ride the Titanic submarine, I said no. However, the seemingly innocent tagline also has an NSFW interpretation, as many social media users pointed out. In French, "Ken" is a slang term for the F-bomb, which means the sentence could also be read as: "She knows how to do everything. He just knows how to f***," according to The Hollywood Reporter. A celebrity chef who banned vegans from his restaurants has been forced to implement a booking fee after being trolled online. It all started when John Mountain, owner of Fyre in Australia, announced the new policy on Facebook following a customer complaint. "Sadly all vegans are now banned from Fyre (for mental health reasons). We thank you for your understanding," he wrote. In a direct message, the customer reportedly wrote: "My only option was the vegetable dish… it was okay but not that filling… and I was shocked to see it was $32 (£17). "If you don’t get with the times, I don’t hold out faith that your restaurant will be the one that does. I think it’s incredibly important nowadays that restaurants can accommodate everyone and to not be able to have actual plant-based meals shows your shortcomings as a chef." "I once wrote and sold a book called Pig which had pork recipes. People know what they’re getting from me." Now, the chef claims he's been bombarded with fake bookings from vegans, prompting him to introduce a $30 (£16) booking fee. On his website, he wrote: "Due to the frequency of non-genuine vegan bookings, we have been forced to request a $30 per person booking fee. A twisted rumour spread across social media on Friday (23 June) that said Marvel actor Jeremy Renner had passed away from a "freak escalator accident." He has not. It is simply yet another celebrity death hoax. The image was originally shared on Twitter with a fake headline that read: "Jeremy Renner, actor, passes away at 52 from freak escalator accident." The fake article is credited to The Guardian's deputy culture editor Sian Cain but appears to be a doctored screenshot from an article written back in March, as the two used the same image of the star. The original article covered Renner's snowplough accident that occurred in January. The rumour seems to have started from user @weedhitter, whose original tweet has over 1 million views, according to Twitter. The hashtag #ripjeremyrenner soon began trending on Twitter as a result of the fake headline, which later featured a community note letting users know that the Hawkeye actor was still alive. Fast-fashion brand Shein has been accused of spreading "propaganda" after influencers were sent to China to walk around the company's factory to see how their clothes are manufactured. Shein invited influencers and Shein "ambassadors" to their "innovation" factory and warehouse – and many are criticising the influencers' posts about their trip. Many received backlash from viewers who say they were promoting propaganda about Shein's practices. One influencer known as Dani DMC said in an Instagram reel about the trip: "I was really impressed to see the working conditions [...] Shein is such a developed and complex company." Dani also claimed to have spoken to a worker who was "very surprised about all the rumours that had been spread in the US." Dani herself also said that the trip taught her to "think for herself" because "there's a narrative fed to us in the US." Another influencer AuJené, @itsjustajlove on Instagram, who was also invited on the trip, shared similar sentiments to Dani. In a reel that discussed her fourth day on the trip, she told viewers she had asked questions about child labour and said: "I found out there is an independent third party contractor that audits all of Shein's manufacturers they conduct over 2500 audits annually to make sure that they align with international laws when it comes to child labour and wages." "They work normal shift hours and are able to quit when they feel like it just like any other job," she added. "Seeing their authenticity even when the cameras were off was endearing to me and very important." The company has previously been criticised for its unsustainable practices and mass production of items. Synthetics Anonymous 2.0, a report published on fashion sustainability, claimed that the manufacturers' use of virgin pouter and large consumption of oil produces the same amount of CO2 as roughly 180 coal-fired power plants. A documentary from Channel 4 titled, Inside the Shein Machine, found that Shein employees were often working 75-hour shifts with little time off. The documentary had undercover cameras that filmed workers making hundreds of garments a day. In one factory, workers made a daily base salary of $20, if any garments had mistakes their pay was cut to $14. In response to the documentary the fast-fashion giant admitted to the safety breaches in a statement: "We know we have a responsibility to safeguard the welfare of workers in our supply chain. In light of the recent report in the news, we launched an investigation into the claim that 2 of our suppliers has unacceptable working conditions at their facilities." A subreddit has gained attention on social media after one of the moderators 'warned' a commenter for "overrating" a woman's looks. The subreddit called "True Rate Me" uses a strict numerical system to rate the physical appearance of users who upload selfies onto the website. The subreddit contains a guide for rating women and men at the top of its page and is strict when it comes to enforcing correct ratings. A tweet, originally posted by the account @kirbylarp, contained a screenshot from the subreddit showing a user receiving a "warning" for "overrating" a woman who uploaded her photo to the subreddit. The tweet has since been deleted at the request of the woman in the photo. After the subreddit went viral, users wanted to gain a better insight into how it operates, with many shocked and even "disgusted", whilst some tried to defend the page. Her post had 1.8k comments, and it seemed that any user who rated her seven or above was smacked with a "warning" for giving her too high a rating. One person rated her a seven. "I'd consider going higher, too, if it weren't for mods giving people warnings for anything above 7. According to this sub’s guide, I think you’re prettier than most of the 7’s there, and reading through comments, it doesn’t look like I’m the only one who believes that. I think it’s the mods being subjective with this one…" Another rated her a 6.2. "If you're really only 21, you need to start using sunscreen and daily moisturiser now," one brutal comment read. "Drink lots of water and stop smoking if you do. You're getting away with it, but in a few years, your skin is going to look so wrinkled/old." "5.8 attractive and above average," a third added. "Flaws include lips and skin (possible symmetry issues too). Facial harmony is well above average. The lower third bone structure and profile view are unusually good. Beautiful overall." According to the guide attached to the subreddit, a seven is in the top 2.5%. Actresses Tara Shahidi, Shay Mitchell, and Elizabeth Lail are all considered 7s. Model Emily Ratajkowski is considered a 7.5. "Somewhat uncommon and the most attractive women seen on a day-to-day basis," states the guide. "These women stand out from the crowd and may be able to model or be successful as an 'Instagram model' or influencer." It goes on to describe 7's as having "feminine and attractive" facial features but may possess flaws such as "bulbous nasal tip, slight asymmetry, long mid-face." Men also post photos of themselves for ratings, with a "male 7" being similar to that of a "female 7", but their flaws are considered to be "crooked nose, slight asymmetry, long mid-face, Negative Canthal tilt." Penn Badgley, Tony Chung, and Keith Powers were among those rated a seven. When those outside the subreddit discovered True Rate Me, many took to Twitter to express their shock at some of the comments posted: One user tried to explain that people on the subreddit aren't giving their personal opinions (or at least aren't supposed to) and that all users have to follow the guide. Others lauded those who upload their photos as "brave" people, whilst another user joked they were going to give all women a rating of 10: The subreddit states that it "aims to provide accurate and objective ratings, by implementing standards that give raters a common ground." They also disagrees with the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", they argue "beauty is more objective than subjective. In bold at the bottom of the subreddit's wiki page reads: "In order to promote accuracy, rating someone without referencing the scale (UNREALISTIC/SUGARCOATED ratings) may result in a warning and/or immediate ban."
