LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ray Liotta never saw one of his early classic movies 'Field of Dreams.' In a 2022 interview, the star shared more details on the same.

Answering a question about what stopped him from watching the film, the star responded, “Because my mother had cancer and I was in the middle of doing 'Goodfellas.' There was a screening one weekend."

Why did Ray Liotta never see 'Field of Dreams'?

Liotta continued, "My dad and my mom came and we were watching it, and she just started not feeling well. Her lungs started getting… She felt the fluid coming. She was having trouble breathing, so we just left. I don’t know why I’ve never seen it. It’s not like if I watched it, I’d cry.”

The star thenbadded, “I mean, I’ve seen what I did, different clips because for a while there, every paper was using it as field of something… Whatever was going on in the government at one time or other. But that’s why I’ve never seen it.

Sharing that he never knew the movie will get all the love it got, he said, “You can’t tell. Not the way 'Field of Dreams' and 'Goodfellas' have aged. 'Goodfellas,' really, it’s been like 28, 30 years later and I have kids coming up to me as if the movie had just come out. These kids who see it when they’re old enough. That’s just unbelievable. Even this one, 'Marriage Story.' This is a really, really good movie. You seen it?

'He'll always be 'Shoeless Joe Jackson' in my heart'

Following Liotta’s death, his ‘Field of Dreams’ co-star Costner honored the 67-year-old. "Devastated to hear the news of Ray Liotta's passing," Costner, 67, wrote on Twitter. "While he leaves an incredible legacy, he'll always be 'Shoeless Joe Jackson' in my heart," he wrote on Twitter.

The 'Yellowstone' actor shared a clip from the 1989 baseball classic in which Shoeless Joe Jackson (Liotta) hits the baseball twice. The first one almost hits Ray Kinsella (Costner) before he moves, and then the second shot goes up in the sky and falls into the field of corn, published Deadline.

"What happened that moment in the film was real," Costner wrote of the scene, revealing that it was not planned and his reaction was real during filming. "God gave us that stunt. Now God has Ray."

Liotta died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic. The star was engaged to fiancee Jacy Nittolo and is survived by his daughter Karsen, 23, with ex-wife Michelle Grace.
