Former vegan claims he hasn't been sick after switching to raw meat diet
Former vegan claims he hasn't been sick after switching to raw meat diet
A 20-year-old man from Sweden has switched out his vegan diet for raw meat with claims he has "never gotten sick." Jones Hussain, who transformed his diet “in the name of health,” opened up about his decision after watching the late American alternative food nutritionist, Aajonus Vonderplanitz, whose “Primal Diet” has inspired people worldwide. He now enjoys raw chicken, cuts of beef, minced meat and fish – even if they are brown or smell slightly. He also implements fruit and juiced veggies into his diet. Health has always been important to Hussain, who said he would not eat a slice of cake for £10,000 because of the sugar. He claims to have not had a slice since the age of 13. “If any food safety expert looked at the food I eat, I think they would have a heart attack because the beef is sometimes brown, the liver looks green, the chicken stinks,” Hussain told PA Real Life. “But I eat that and then nothing happens. I did the experiments on myself to see whether what we have been led to believe is actually true and surprise, surprise, it wasn’t.” Hussain, who said he has always been driven by “health”, came across the raw meat diet plan in 2019 a few months after quitting veganism. “My starting point has always been health,” he said. “So I’ve experimented with a bunch of things in the name of health.” The diet was designed by Vonderplanitz, who touted the benefits of eating raw foods, in particular meat and dairy. “I found one of his lectures on YouTube and started listening,” he said. “At first, I was just as shocked as anyone would be to see someone eat such a diet.” But Hussain said he found Vonderplanitz’s arguments to be “honest and convincing” and so decided to give it a try. “I ate raw meat for the first time in November 2019 and I felt great,” he said. “It was just a straight cut of raw beef.” Having not fallen ill, Hussain then decided to try raw ground beef. “That was the scary part because that’s when you enter into uncharted territory,” he said. “I was like, if I get sick then I won’t do this anymore. Lo and behold, again, I didn’t get sick, so I started eating raw ground beef because it’s much cheaper than straight cuts.” To start with, Hussain would flavour the raw meat with spices and garlic. “But then I felt that I didn’t need them, even from a taste perspective,” he said. “So I just started consuming it by itself and ever since then I’ve eaten raw ground beef almost every day.” By the summer of 2020, Hussain had become accustomed to eating all types of meat. “I had no problems eating raw chicken because I had found a fairly good source in the supermarket so I ate it like KFC,” he said. “I also started buying raw liver here and there, and eating a small amount every day.” The raw meat Hussain kept in his fridge soon started to turn “green”, but this did not stop him from eating it. “Since I was so convinced about what Aajonus was saying, I was not worried and just consumed it,” he said. “But if there was any white mould, then I got rid of the batch, although this did not happen very often.” Hussain has continued eating raw meat ever since, although his family prefers ground beef to chicken because of the smell. “Nowadays I don’t so much eat raw chicken because it stinks up the house,” he said. In a single sitting, Hussain said he is capable of consuming around 400g of raw liver. He said he believes dumping veganism for raw meat has improved his gut health and helped get rid of his acne. “The thing with raw meat is that the nutrients are more easily absorbed and unaltered,” he claimed. “It’s not that raw meat has some kind of special superpower, it’s just that by not cooking it, I get more nutrients and no byproducts.” NHS guidelines, however, state that “cooking meat properly” kills harmful bacteria which can cause food poisoning. Hussain had been a vegan for two years, from 2017 to 2019, before eventually converting to the primal diet. “It’s not that I was struggling to get enough nutrients,” he said. “It’s that a human being cannot survive on a vegan diet successfully. “Of course, you can take supplements but it’s not the same thing, because they are processed. “There is no other way of getting these nutrients naturally other than by eating animal products. “So veganism on that basis, falls on its face.” Hussain also eats raw fish such as salmon and tuna and said he is happy to eat any type of meat provided he can find a reliable supplier. The Primal Diet also includes fruit and vegetables, all of which are consumed raw. “I eat cucumbers and tomatoes, as well as oranges and apples when they are available to me,” he said. “The philosophy is don’t cook the food, but there is a variety.” 'Hussain’ unusual diet often shocks people, including his parents who are concerned for his wellbeing. He explained: “Usually people have the same reaction, at first they think what the hell is this guy doing? He’s going to die in a few days. “Then they speak to me and find out that I’ve been doing it for three and half years, that I’ve never gotten sick, that my arguments are logical and that I look healthy. “They are like all right, that’s a new perspective that I had not heard before.” People behave differently on social media, however, said Hussain, who has his own YouTube channel, Excellent Health. He also works part-time at an elderly day care centre and has written a book titled The 6 Health Commandments. “The only time I ever got food poisoning was from a frozen bag of raspberries before I started eating meat,” he said. “I decided not to act out of fear, but to see what is true and what isn’t true.” To find out more about food safety, visit www.food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/cooking-your-food. Domino's delivery driver scolds customer for not picking up order herself
Domino's delivery driver scolds customer for not picking up order herself
A Domino’s delivery driver has faced backlash after scolding a customer for not picking up their order from the store. Food delivery services are commonplace, especially in major towns and cities, and offer a convenient way for people to order food without having to leave their houses. But, one woman found she was being judged by the delivery driver for getting her food delivered a short distance. The incident was caught on a person’s doorbell camera when customer Ercina Rodriguez unexpectedly got into an argument with the person delivering her Domino’s order. In the clip, Rodriguez was asked by the person delivering her order: “You know the Domino’s is right there, right?” In an inaudible part of the clip, Rodriguez appeared to give her reasoning for why she opted for delivery, to which the delivery person replied, “Ok, that’s fair. That’s fair”. @erica.bk11 #fyp #dominos #viral Rodriguez then calmly responded: “I don’t see why I should have to explain myself to you about why I’m doing a delivery. They pay you for that, right? And you get a tip. What more do you want?” The driver shrugged their shoulders and said, “I’m just wondering”, to which Rodriguez replied, “It’s none of your business”. The TikTok has been viewed almost 700,000 times and people have been giving Rodriguez their support. One person commented: “So you paid the fee for delivery and tipped and this person asked why? I keep getting amazed every day.” “Love the way you handled that. People need to mind their own business,” another wrote. Another questioned: “Why is delivery an option then.” Someone else suggested: “I would’ve taken the tip back and called the store.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Diner stunned after being hit with '$15 a**hole' charge on restaurant bill
Diner stunned after being hit with '$15 a**hole' charge on restaurant bill
People online are stunned to learn a diner was charged 'a**hole tax' on his food bill – but it's not all what it seems. In a popular Reddit thread that racked up over 40,000 upvotes, the man claimed his "dinner receipt had a message" at the Oregan restaurant. A photo of the bill showed a seemingly innocent string of meals, followed by "You're an A**hole" with a $15 "fine". Fellow users were quick to share their shock, with many hospitality workers expressing their interest in implementing the so-called fine into their workplace. "I wish we could charge customers for being a**holes. We would make so much money. People are garbage," one wrote. Fortunately, the poster soon realised the mishap and clarified in the comments: "My wife and I went to a restaurant for her birthday and we both had cocktails. I completely forgot the name of the cocktail by the time the receipt came but its name was 'You’re an A**hole, Mr. Burton' lmao it definitely caught me by surprise". Reddit - Dive into anything from pics Attention soon turned to the "fried chicken tit" listed as one of the couple's orders. "'I'm intrigued by the fried chicken tit," one person wrote, while another reiterated: "I am more interested in seeing a picture of the Fried Chicken Tit." According to the diner, it's simply the name of Westgate Bourbon Bar and Tap House's "fried chicken sandwich." Their menu describes the meal as: "Breaded and fried DD chicken breast, havarti, lettuce, tomato, basil, mustard aioli, on a grilled ciabatta bun. yes. we said tit. ..from a chicken. go ahead. pretend you’re offended. I’m offended you’re offended." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. The bizarre 'Skibidi Toilet' meme explained
The bizarre 'Skibidi Toilet' meme explained
The internet is full of weird and wonderful trends and memes, but one of the strangest by far is the Skibidi Toilet meme that has taken over social media platforms. If you’ve heard of Skibidi Toilet recently, chances are it was on TikTok or X/Twitter but many people may not know that the phenomenon started on YouTube. Skibidi Toilet is a meme based on a bizarre animated YouTube series with 59 episodes all about singing and dancing disembodied heads lurking in toilets. The series shows how the Skibidi Toilets have conflict between themselves and the so-called “Cameramen” – other people with CCTV on their heads, who are killed by the Skibidi Toilets. The YouTube show was created by user “DaFuq!?Boom!” and has over 27.2 million YouTube subscribers and some Skibidi Toilet episodes have upwards of 63 million views. The show is animated by Alexey Gerasimov, an animator based in Georgia. Since posting the first episode in February this year, the series has rapidly taken off. Its popularity seems to have got Gen Zers worried that they are getting old, as Gen Alpha is coming up with its own memes that they don’t understand. Gen Alpha, those born between the early 2010s and mid-2020s, are the next generation on from Gen Z (1997 – 2012) and are now becoming tweeners that have their own interests and online identity. Some have compared Skibidi Toilet to Gen Alpha’s Slender Man – a scary character that was popular among online youth in 2009. The emergence of Skibidi Toilet has left some Gen Z-ers realising that soon they will be facing the same mocking and ridicule they dished out to Millennials. On X/Twitter, someone wrote: “I just overheard my sister talking about how Gen Z is old and stupid and how they don't get their jokes, hello I am right here I am only 15 (she was born in 2013) “Then she asked me if I knew what a Skibidi Toilet was please help me what the f**k is a Skibidi Toilet I feel old.” For those who are extreme fans of Skibidi Toilet, a new phrase called Skibidi Toilet Syndrome has been coined as the diagnosis for people who can’t stop watching and consuming content based on the animated show. Friends learn of Princess Diana's death in real-time in historic viral video
Friends learn of Princess Diana's death in real-time in historic viral video
It's 26 years to the day since Diana, Princess of Wales, died following a car crash in Paris, France along with her partner Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul. Diana was arguably the most famous woman in the world at the time and the level of devotion to her by the public will possibly never be seen again for a member of the Royal family. The outpouring of grief in the weeks that followed her death was unlike anything the UK has ever seen and the response was similar elsewhere around the world. One particular clip which sums this up is a now-viral video filmed by Alan Light who was playing cards with his friends in Iowa City, Iowa on that fateful night in 1997. Light was testing out his new camcorder and while everyone is in a good mood at the start of the video one of the friends does mention that Diana had been gravely injured because of the crash. They continue to play cards with CNN's coverage playing in the background. However, the atmosphere soon changes a few minutes into the video when CNN announces that Diana has passed away causing them to be utterly shellshocked by the news. Friends shocked to learn Princess Diana is dead (Historic 1997 video) www.youtube.com The rest of the near 7-minute video plays out with the friends quietly watching the coverage of the event on CNN. The video has been viewed more than 10 million times on YouTube alone and is considered to be one of the first ever reaction videos, even though the men involved at the time weren't aware of that. Since sharing the video in 2021, Light has been inundated with questions about why he was filming at that exact moment. He recently answered those queries in the comments section of the video. He wrote: "I recorded this home video in 1997 the night Diana died and it sat in a box for many years. Why was I recording? I was trying out a new camcorder by recording friends playing the card game UNO. When my mom called me to say that Diana was in a car crash I turned on the TV, on silent, and we kept playing the game while monitoring the text on the bottom of the TV screen. "When the screen text changed to "Diana dead" the true reality of the situation hit like a ton of bricks and we stopped playing UNO of course, and rushed over to the TV. This was recorded in America, in the state of Iowa. All of the guys in the video are still alive today (as of today, June 6, 2022). "The guy who screams when he learns Diana has died is my friend Ken who still lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is his genuine reaction to the news of Diana's death. Some people call it a "Wilhelm scream." (Apparently that's a movie term). The guy who stifles a smile after Ken's scream is Scott (his brief smile was a reaction to Ken's loud silly scream, NOT to Diana's death). "When CNN announced that Diana had died I didn't turn the camera back to the TV because my instinct was that it would be more interesting to capture my friends' reactions. Some people call this video the first of what are now called "reaction" videos, a term that didn't exist in 1997 (and neither did YouTube, which began in 2005)." Car salesman claims he fires employees for not having a six pack
Car salesman claims he fires employees for not having a six pack
Car salesman based in Arizona Andy Elliot is going viral due to his unusual hiring requirement - all his employees need a six pack. He went viral on social media after a video of him sharing his standards for his employees at a conference was posted to Instagram. Speaking to an audience at the conference he says, “my entire team, if you don’t have a six pack , you don’t work for us. […] it’s called a standard. How about we raise them?” The video has over 88,000 likes, but the majority of comments took to mocking Elliot for his hiring method. One user wrote, “can’t work for me if you’re bald. Grow hair or get out,” for context, Elliot is bald. “Absolute cringe. I cringe every time this guy shows up on my feed,” wrote another. “Such an awful opinion,” said a different user. In a statement to the New York Post, Elliot clarified his words, “it’s not that we don’t hire anybody with a six-pack,” he explained. “We just have a standard that says if you’re gonna be a mentor to others in our company you’re gonna be your standard.” Elliot also seemingly is unbothered by those who disagree with him. “I mean, those are people sitting in their mom’s basement, you know, commenting or by the the way, or they’re people that are sitting there wishing they could kill it in life, just making excuses and not taking action,” he said. Dad accused of causing his daughters a ‘lifetime of issues’ over new baby name
Dad accused of causing his daughters a ‘lifetime of issues’ over new baby name
A father has been accused of setting his children up for years of confusion and bullying after he revealed the name of his new baby daughter. The mother of his first child explained what had happened in a lengthy Reddit post, branding his behaviour “f**king weird” and “spineless”. The Redditor began by offering some context, explaining: “I ended up falling pregnant with my 10-year-old daughter during a drunken hook-up with a friend in my mid 20s.” She added: “When we found out we decided to keep the child and co-parent while remaining friends. We were never a couple and we didn't want to be one either.” She then said that the dad and his partner of four years fell pregnant last year, and that she wanted her daughter and the new baby “to have a close relationship despite having different mothers”. “All in all, I thought everything was great and I was excited for my daughter to have a sibling as she's always wanted one but I had no interest in having another child,” she continued. Then, three days before her Reddit post, the woman said the dad’s girlfriend gave birth to a baby girl and they asked her to bring her daughter to the hospital to meet her new sister. “I did exactly that but when they introduced us to the baby I was shocked,” she wrote. This was because they’d given their little girl the exact same name as the first daughter. “[The girlfriend] didn't seem to have any issue with this when she introduced the baby bold as brass,” the Redditor recounted. However, she acknowledged: “My friend seemed uncomfortable and wouldn't look at me directly.” “I asked them what they were playing at, at which point my friend’s father said he'd take my daughter down to the cafeteria to get something to eat and left with her,” she went on. “My friend told me to calm down and not overreact while his girlfriend told me she didn't see the issue and it was a pretty name.” She then asked them whether they named the baby in honour of the older daughter – in an attempt to “understand the logic here” – but the girlfriend simply replied that “no, it was just a pretty name she liked”. “I then asked if they planned to use a nickname or a middle name when addressing to her on a daily basis and her response was that she didn't see a need for that,” the outraged mum continued. “I told them they were being ridiculous and that they couldn't do this, I then told his girlfriend that I found this frankly creepy and told my friend he was being spineless if he was happy to go along with this. “He tried to claim our daughter could use a nickname or something but I shut that down immediately, asking why it was more reasonable for a girl who has used that name for a decade to [change] her name compared to a baby who had no concept of what a name was yet.” Wrapping up her post, the Redditor went on: “His girlfriend told me I was being a b***h talking to her like that after she just gave birth and asked the nurses to remove me saying I was being disruptive.” She concluded by stressing: “I know that what they want to name their child is their choice [...] but this is one name that should be off limits or adjusted, they even have the same surname as they have the same father. “Something about it just felt malicious and deliberate as if [the girlfriend] is trying to replace my daughter.’ Her post on the AITA forum racked up more than 23,000 upvotes and 4,100 comments in just two days as readers voiced their horror at the father and girlfriend’s behaviour. “The same FIRST and LAST name is going to cause both those girls a life time of issues, especially with the same father,” one wrote. “ I usually would have a bit more sympathy for a woman who just gave birth but she seemed deliberately cold and cruel towards your daughter (her step daughter) to have done this.” Another suggested the mum should take legal action, saying: “I would tell your daughter's father that you will be going for full custody of your daughter and taking him for child support because you can no longer trust him to do the right thing by your daughter. “How can you trust that he wouldn't allow his [girlfriend] to treat your daughter poorly based on this behaviour?” they asked, adding: “I'm sorry but your daughter is never going to get treated right by her father's gf, she is already trying to replace your daughter by giving her daughter the same name.” A third agreed, accusing the dad of “thinking his partner is more important than his daughter”, and asking: “If this is how he's going to be now, how is he going to be when she's treating [the first] daughter like s**t?” And a fourth advised the mother to change her daughter’s surname to her own, writing: “I suggest you look into changing your daughter's surname to your own surname (or at least suggest she can do it when she's old enough). “At least they won't have the same full name, and she can get some distance from her creepy father.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Woman named 'Barbie Oppenheimer' says she's having trouble checking into hotels
Woman named 'Barbie Oppenheimer' says she's having trouble checking into hotels
With the release of the Barbie movie and Oppenheimer on the same weekend this summer, everyone was feeling the 'Barbenheimer' fever - none more so than Barbara Oppenheimer. (Yes, that's her real name). Barbara's husband's father is third cousins to J. Robert Oppenheimer, hence her surname - not forgetting that Barbie's real name is Barbara. In a recent interview with Slate about how she has found the recent Barbenheimer summer as someone who inadvertently has an on-theme name. “I had college friends around the world texting me that weekend when [the movies] came out, with the whole schmear, you know… ‘the bomb and the bombshell’," she told the publication. “It’s pretty funny! It was a brilliant thing that they launched them together. It really brought people back into movie theaters.” Barbara recalled going to the cinema to watch Oppenheimer on the opening weekend to see "how they treated his [J.Robert] story," and also saw the Barbie movie two weeks after, noting how they loved both films "in different ways." When asked which film she liked better, Barbara replied: "I can’t choose. I’m glad I saw both." As a fan of both films, she going to watch the films again - and even sporting a t-shirt of the infamous meme. "I’m going next week with a group of women and we’ll all wear pink. I’ll wear my Barbenheimer T-shirt," she added. As well as the connection to Oppenheimer, Barbara also revealed she was a Barbie fan, and received the doll as a sixth birthday present, and also had a Ken, Skipper and Midge. Since Barbenheimer has been everywhere this summer, it seems others find Barbara's name hard to believe which makes checking into hotels an interesting experience. "I’m on vacation right now, and when I checked in at the hotel, I said, “Barbie Oppenheimer!” The guy said, “Are you pulling my leg?” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Baby Alien goes viral for his reaction to Ari Alectra reveal in Fan Van video
TikTok star 'Baby Alien' has gone viral on social media following his emotional reaction to a video featuring him and model Ari Alectra. Baby Alien, who has more than 625,000 followers on Instagram alone, appeared on the The Fan Bus channel earlier this month where he confessed that he was still a virgin. The idea of The Fan Bus is to connect fans with their favourite OnlyFans models and let nature take its course. As the name would suggest all their content is filmed in a van. However, the account has gained a significant amount of interest since Baby Alien appeared on there with his story now being viewed more than 1.5 million times. There was so much interest that it saw an unprecedented influx of women offering to sleep with him and take his virginity. Yet on August 26th, Fan Bus selected OnlyFans model Ari Alectra to be the one to tell Baby Alien that he was going to lose his virginity that day. In the clip, Baby Alien is told that they believed Alectra was serious about sleeping with him to which he had an excited response. What he didn't realise was that Alectra was actually hiding in the back of the van waiting to surprise him. Alien was soon overcome with emotion and ran out of the van and started crying before being consoled by Alectra and told what was happening to him was real. @thefanvan_ It finally happened #fanbus #busconfessions #trueconfessions #thefanbus #hookupstory At this point, we should point out that Baby Alien does have an obscenely long tongue and does make some suggestive actions as to what he can do with it. We'll leave that to your imagination. The subsequent video has been viewed 1.2 million times with many more than delighted for Baby Alien's happy ending. One person said: "Bro couldn’t believe it." Another wrote: "I would have cried too man." A third added: "dude went through a journey of emotions." Baby Alien's popularity has stemmed from his social media content which mostly consist of lifestyle and comedy skit videos. Did Donald Trump release a rap song about being arrested?
A rap song "by Donald Trump" is making waves across social media following his arrest in Georgia last Thursday (24 August). The former president was arrested on 13 counts but adamantly denies any wrongdoing. Now, a song titled 'First Day Out' by 'Trump The Don' has racked up millions of views in a matter of days. The lyrics rap: "These DA's acting silly, my mugshot is worth a billi, sold some merch and made a milli" and "Call me racist? But these rappers riding with me, they my soldiers, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA." The track has reached almost three million views, with many being fans of the beat. One wrote: "I respect the flow! What’s a link to your real music?" Another added, "Bro this goes hard," while a third tweeted: "That’s a pretty catchy tune." "I stay out of politics but I’m not gone lie! Trump got bars," another penned. Brother accused of ruining sister’s wedding after refusing to babysit nephew
Brother accused of ruining sister’s wedding after refusing to babysit nephew
A man is embroiled in a family row after leaving his sister’s wedding as he felt she was using him for “free childcare”. The 31-year-old explained that when he turned up to the wedding, his 29-year-old sister gave him a “list of times” the one-year-old who “loves to cry” would need to be away from the party - including much of the ceremony and the entirety of the reception. He was upset, and slipped out of the wedding while the grandmother was holding the baby. Since then, his family have been furious with him for ducking out and have demanded he apologise. Posting to the Am I The A**hole subreddit, the man sought opinions over whether or not he was right to leave. He explained that he was out of town, so missed the get-together the night before the wedding, but he showed up for the ceremony and the reception. The baby cries “all the time”, but usually stops if someone takes him outside for fresh air. When he arrived at the ceremony, his sister asked him to take the baby outside to calm him down. He did, and then was asked again another while later. His sister said they didn’t have a babysitter because they “spent all the money on the ceremony and parties”. He felt annoyed because he wanted to enjoy the ceremony, but everyone told him to do her the favour of minding the child because “it was her day”. The Redditor asked his sister how often she expected him to take the baby outside, resulting in her giving him a “huge list of times” he would have to leave with the child, meaning he would miss the important parts of the day including the exchanging of vows, the aisle walk, the readings, the kiss, and the reception. With all this in mind, he estimated he would only have about 30 minutes sitting inside, and the rest “was just about the baby”. He pointed this out to his sister, but she told him someone would “videotape it” for him. He asked if someone else could watch the baby because as her brother, he wanted to witness her tying the knot. But she told him to “just do it”. He said: “I was really mad, but tried not to show it on the outside. When I asked about the reception, she told me, ‘Oh, you'll have to miss out. [Baby's name] needs to be outside and has to be fed.’ “That was the final straw, and when my mother was holding the baby I slipped out and just left. “The next day I get a call from my sister, and she's screaming about how I ruined her wedding and how the baby wouldn't stop crying. “I told her that I left because she treated me like a babysitter instead of a guest/family member, and said that it was her fault if she couldn't get a nanny or ask a friend to do it. “Since then I've been nuked with calls from family calling me selfish and telling me that I'm effectively disowned unless I apologise. I see no reason to.” He concluded the post by asking for outsider opinions on whether or not he dealt with the situation appropriately. The top comment, with 16,800 upvotes, asked why she couldn’t “rotate baby duty between family members”. By not doing so, his sister implied she was “the least important person” at the wedding, they said. They added: “Plus how expensive would it have been to hire a babysitter? Or your parents could have chipped in and gotten one.” Another echoed the previous comment, writing: “I find it funny that they’re calling you selfish when it doesn’t seem like any one of them volunteered to take turns so it would be fair and you at least got to witness some parts of the wedding.” Other commenters were surprised the bride didn’t ask him if he could babysit before the big day. One commenter remarked: “She could’ve told you beforehand that you were babysitting but she tried to do it stealthy and taking your cue from her; you stealthy left.” What would you do in this situation? Dad left red-faced after passing out on kids' fairground ride
Thrill-seekers have long headed to amusement parks to get their kicks from twisting roller-coasters or plunging drop towers. But the kids’ zone is generally considered a pretty safe place for the whole family. And yet, one dad was apparently so overwhelmed with joy when he joined his kids on a fairground ride that he passed out cold while they were still strapped in. Lewis Conley Waterman was filmed beaming as he sat next to his toddler son and young daughter on a giant double-sided swing at a Butlins in Skegness. He enthusiastically raised his arms to get into the funfair spirit as the ride swung into action. And yet, just as his little girl was screaming and giggling with glee, he suddenly slumped to one side. Posting the clip to TikTok, Lewis wrote in a caption: “Still can’t believe I passed out on a children’s fair ride.” @lewisconley93 Passing out on a children’s fair ride #passedout #funny #fairrides #fypシ His video has now racked up more than 4 million views and 183,000 likes, with more than 1,000 commentators reminiscing on their own, similar experiences. “I remember when I went on this ride some people were screaming and I was falling asleep [because] of how relaxing it was,” one recalled. “I went on the tea cups and I passed out. No joke I’ve got a video,” wrote another. “I was so close to passing out on the Zipper and the Zero Gravity ride. My life flashed before my eyes,” admitted a third. Others expressed concern for Lewis, urging him to get checked out by a doctor and suggesting he might suffer from a condition called postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS). According to the NHS, PoTS is when your heart rate increases very quickly after getting up from sitting or lying down. The health service notes that the causes of PoTS are unclear, and that it can develop suddenly or gradually over time. “It can get better with changes to your lifestyle, but some people may need treatment with medicines,” it states on its website. Changes to your lifestyle? We guess that means no more trips to Butlins. Sorry, Lewis. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy.
