Parasitic worm seen wriggling in supermarket salmon
It is important to eat a protein rich diet, and you can achieve this if you eat a lot of fish and meat. But one women got more protein than she bargained for when she found a worm in her salmon while shopping - how gross. Posting on TikTok, Rachel Lyn said she picked up the fish in a South Carolina branch of Costco before deciding to "immediately put it back" after seeing the worm, wriggling about. "Live parasites in the salmon today at Costco," she captioned the video. @msrachellyn Live parasites in the salmon today at #costco yummmm ?? Since posting the TikTok, it has gone viral and accrued 2.5 million views. But while it may seem disgusting apparently finding an extra friend in your fish is not uncommon. These “worms” are a parasite named anisakid nematodes, sometimes referred to as herring worms or cod worms. A 2019 article from CBC alleged that “data cited by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control suggests 75 percent of wild Pacific salmon are infected with the parasite.” After reporting on the story, the Mirror contacted the supermarket for comment. Fitness YouTuber slams Prime as Logan Paul's 'most profitable scam yet'
Fitness YouTuber slams Prime as Logan Paul's 'most profitable scam yet'
A fitness expert has slammed Logan Paul and KSI's Prime energy drink and called it their “most profitable scam yet”. James Smith looked at the science behind hydration and claimed that despite the fact the drink is the official hydration sponsor of UFC, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Barcelona, Paul and KSI “don’t even understand” the concept of hydration. Explaining how rehydration works, Smith said that water and sodium are key to tackling dehydration. He said: “If you’re partaking in a sport [where you] lose loads of water and loads of salt [and you] replenish with just water, over time you’re going to create a negative balance of sodium.” While Smith explained that replenishing electrolytes sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, it was sodium that is the most important to replenish. He then compared Prime’s offering to other leading brands, showing that Prime only has 5mg of sodium. It did however have an impressive 700mg of potassium. Logan Paul's Most Profitable Scam Yet www.youtube.com Powerade, meanwhile, contains 168mg of sodium and 200mg of potassium. “So understanding that when we sweat we lose mostly water and salt, which one of these two, [Prime of Powerade], do you think is going to be superior when it comes to replenishing the sodium that you’re losing?” he asked. It comes after Paul and KSI’s Prime defended the levels of caffeine in its beverages after facing a backlash. Health experts previously called on the US Food and Drug Administration to investigate the energy drink company. A 12 oz can of Prime, which was founded by YouTube stars Logan Paul and KSI, contains 200mg of caffeine, equivalent to about half a dozen Coke cans or nearly two Red Bulls. 'Alien' seen walking around on New York subway in creepy viral footage
'Alien' seen walking around on New York subway in creepy viral footage
Footage of an “alien” walking around New York City and even riding the subway has gone viral, but there’s actually a reasonable explanation. Over recent years, the existence of aliens has become a legitimate topic of conversation, particularly after a UFO whistleblower claimed institutions are covering up key proof. But, an alien walking around the middle of one of the busiest cities on Earth probably isn’t the “proof” most people were expecting to see. Clips of an alien in NYC have been going viral across social media with people spotting it in multiple locations, using only hand gestures to interact with the public. The “alien” was a blue-green colour with a large bald head, misshapen ears and black eyes, resembling the classic look of what people picture when they think of an alien. It wore a baggy t-shirt that had a picture of planet Earth on it, along with the words, “Love your mother”. Some hilarious theories began flying around, with some suggesting that the alien’s presence was intentional to prepare society for what is to come. On TikTok, one person wrote: “They are preparing us for reality.” Another urged: “Stay awake.” But, the actual explanation was much more simple as it was revealed the alien wandering NYC was part of a promotion for the new movie Jules, released on 11 August. The sci-fi comedy film follows 79-year-old Milton Robinson and how his life is changed when a UFO crash lands in his garden in rural Pennsylvania. Jules Trailer #1 (2023) www.youtube.com While the film’s production team hasn’t officially confirmed it was a stunt to promote the movie, it looks identical to the alien, Jules, in the film, so people seem to think it’s a pretty safe assumption. Who’s SheRaSeven? The eyebrow-raising influencer deemed a ‘female Andrew Tate’
Who’s SheRaSeven? The eyebrow-raising influencer deemed a ‘female Andrew Tate’
A self-help influencer is being compared to Andrew Tate because of her views on gender roles in dating. Leticia Padua, who posts under the name SheRaSeven, on TikTok and YouTube, advises young women to date older men to act as "providers" and pay for them and suggests manipulative tactics to make this happen. With over 20bn views across her platforms and counting, she suggests “using your baby voice” to attract men, ghosting them to make them want you more, and not talking too much on first dates to create an air of mystery. She also suggest women go to high-end bars alone before the after-work rush to pick up wealthy men. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Men who don't have money are called "dusties" and she says they should be avoided. One of her most popular YouTube videos is titled "how to get your man to give you money". @sheraseven1 #sheraseven1 #datingadviceforgirls #asherastargoddess #sprinklesprinklelady #menwithmoney #sherasevenknowsbest #sprinklesprinkle✨️ #sprinklesprinkle✨️ #darkfeminineenergy #levelup Videos like these have sparked the Tate comparison as the controversial influencer also has some completely unprogressive views about gender and the role of men and women within heterosexual relationships. And she is not the only person to be compared to Tate. The proudly “anti-feminist” influencer Pearl Davis has become a darling of the far-right right for her outspoken views on everything from why divorce should be banned to why women shouldn’t vote. The American racked up almost 1 million followers on TikTok, but was then banned but she is active on other platforms and even interviewed Tate once. She was interviewed by Piers Morgan in July and said she was a "fan" of Tate. However, some commentators have rightly pointed out that Tate is facing rape and human trafficking charges, whereas Padua and Davis absolutely are not so perhaps the comparisons are slightly unfair. Nevertheless, relying on men as financial providers is very backwards. So stick with your "dusties", everyone. There's more to life than money! Have your say in our news democracy. Baby Storme calls Target employee 'racist' for breaking up flash mob dance in store
Baby Storme calls Target employee 'racist' for breaking up flash mob dance in store
A Target employee has been labelled “racist” after refusing to allow a flash mob dance to be filmed inside a store. The incident occurred when musician Baby Storme attempted to film a dance video inside the store for her single 'This City Is A Graveyard.' In the video of the attempted filming, Baby Storme could be seen standing in the middle of a Target store flanked on both sides by several backup dancers all dressed in similar gothic attire. As the clip began, the dance troop began walking towards the camera in time to the music, before the employee of the store stood in front of the camera that was filming them as the group continued with the routine. A person could be heard telling the large group, “We’re going to have to call the cops on your guys,” adding: “It’s becoming a safety hazard”. Someone in the group said: “Hey! If we all just start and multiple people record they can’t block everyone.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Baby Storme uploaded a video of the incident on the platform X. In the caption, she accused the Target employee of being “racist”. She wrote: “This racist Target employee called the police on us for dancing in Target... So we danced anyway.” But, Baby Storme’s strong accusation has received backlash after other X users added context to her tweet, writing that it is down to Target’s store policy that the dance video was stopped, not because of the race of the artist. A comminunity noted stated, “Target has a clear policy prohibiting this kind of behavior. It's not right to assume that a Target employee is racist because they are following the store's policy,” and provided a link to the company’s policy. One person argued: “Not gonna lie it’s August and y’all in the middle of Target acting like zombies. I don’t think race has anything to do with it.” Another mocked: “Is the racist in the room with us? Y’all came 80 deep doing the Thriller in Target.” “Flabbergasted by the mental gymnastics people will take to justify their self-entitled actions,” said another. It’s not the first time singer Baby Storme has faced backlash. She responded after she was criticised for filming the music video for the same single in a real graveyard. Elon Musk has updated the X logo again and everyone said the same thing
The logo of “X” (formerly known as Twitter) has changed again and everyone is saying the same thing. Since Elon Musk took over the social media platform Twitter, he has implemented some major changes, one of the biggest being a complete rebrand to “X” which left industry experts baffled. As part of the rebrand, the iconic logo of 17 years was changed from the famous sky blue and white bird logo to a black and white X that some have compared to resembling a porn site. Now, Musk has made another update to the default app icon logo, adding some white marks to the black background behind the X to give it a kind of worn grunge effect. But, the subtle change has been mercilessly mocked by X users and simply left everyone increasingly yearning to have the old bird logo back. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter “Impressive how they managed to make it look ever tackier,” one person argued. Another said: “Not the f**king grunge_overlay_04.png texture.” Someone else wrote: “Well it’s def not beating porn site allegations any time soon.” Among the criticism, others called for the app logo to be changed back to its original state. “They should update to this,” one person wrote. According to the number of likes the tweet has garnered, it would appear thousands of others agree. Have your say in our news democracy. Who is Ed Mylett? The man who claims he has '21 days a week'
A man has left the internet baffled after claiming he has 21 days in a week and people are confused. Ed Mylett has gone viral for a second time after a clip from a podcast appearance on Impact Theory with YouTuber Tom Bilyeu went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter). The clip encapsulates hustle and grind culture perfectly, as Mylett claimed he had more days in the week than everyone else and explained his bizarre logic. He explained: “My day is 6am to noon, and I’m not crazy. You’re crazy for thinking it takes 24 hours, just like some dude in a cave did 300 years ago.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter While his maths and history might be questionable, Mylett continued, explaining, “My second day starts at noon and goes til 6pm”. He explained that 6pm until midnight counts as his “third day”, meaning over the course of a normal 7-day week, he actually experiences 21 days. It’s fair to say that users on X (formerly known as Twitter) weren’t quite as convinced by Mylett’s logic. “My favourite part of this clip is that he thinks the 'caveman era' was 300 years ago,” wrote one person. Another argued: “You can take the lad out of the afters but you can't take the afters out the lad. “All these former beak heeds turned entrepreneurs have swapped chatting s**t at 5am in some randoms kitchen for a podcast studio.” Who is Ed Mylett? Mylett is a YouTuber, podcaster and entrepreneur. H enjoined the World Financial Group (WFG), a financial planning company, in 1992.
