With spooky season well and truly upon us, one expert has explored how people can keep themselves safe from a zombie apocalypse. While the scenario is incredibly unlikely, fictional stories have always been a popular plot through some of the world's most famous literature, films and TV series, including Netflix's All Of Us Are Dead. Now, zombie survival expert, Lewis Dartnell, author of The Knowledge: How to Rebuild our World after an Apocalypse, has partnered with Toolstation to share a guide in the event of a hypothetical zombie apocalypse. Here are seven of Dartnell's top tips – that we hope none of us ever have to use: Step 1: At the start of everything, you will want to lay low. Make sure you are prepped with a few days’ worth of food and water and stay inside. It would be wise to blackout windows with bin liners and barricade doors or any other entry points. Step 2: Plan your route out of your town or city, a crowded area is the last place you want to be, so getting out is necessary. Plan a route that avoids main roads and use the darkness of night to cover yourself. Try to stick to your route but be prepared to adapt if anything goes wrong. Step 3: Find yourself a good set of wheels, ideally a sturdy 4x4 that can take some damage and handle off-road driving. You’ll need a vehicle to travel for supplies and relocation, we recommend putting a long-range radio or walkie-talkie in there so you can communicate with your fellow survivors. Step 4: Find a quiet, rural spot to settle down. Away from crowded areas, this is the perfect place to survive. Settle near clear, running water, find a place with a fireplace so you can use wood to keep warm and try to find somewhere with fertile ground so you can grow your own food. Step 5: Think about defence, a wall surrounding your settlement combined with some floodlights is what you want. This keeps out any unwanted visitors and allows you to keep eyes on the surrounding area. Step 6: Scavenge what you need, the world is now yours to scavenge to survive. Keep an eye out for medication like antibiotics, iodine tablets can make water safe to drink, and supermarkets will contain canned food that will stay good for years after. Step 7: Once settled, you can re-establish the infrastructure that you need. Establish an off-grid supply of electricity, this can be done via homemade wind turbines. Also, fuel can be made using rendered animal fat, allowing you to keep your vehicles running. Dartnell also suggests grouping together to create the perfect survival team, recommending to poach the following: Natural Leaders: Having someone in the team who can lead and make decisions is a must, someone needs to keep morale up and organise your actions to make sure you effectively perform as a unit. Carpenters/Metalworkers: Capable trade workers are essential when it comes to repairs and rebuilding, you need to be a self-sufficient unit, so being able to build and repair as and when it is needed is a must. Electricians: Like the previous addition, electricians can help you rebuild your infrastructure, install solar panels, and monitor generators and batteries. Creating a settlement with self-sufficient electricity will improve your quality of life. Doctors and Nurses: Another necessary addition to any team, these will help keep you in good health and although they may not have access to all the equipment they need, their medical knowledge is needed. A woman has gone viral on TikTok for sharing an awkward date encounter after ordering 48 oysters. In a clip that's racked up almost 5 million views, Atlanta-based TikToker @equanaaa shared her excitement about visiting Fontaine’s Oyster House, supposedly known to serve the best oysters in the area, with a date she met at a bar. The clip then shows her slurping through four rounds of 12 oyster dishes. "Y’all, when the fourth [plate] came out, he was looking at me crazy. I didn’t give a f***," she told fellow TikTokers, adding: "I’m like, ‘Baby, you invited me out. I’m going to eat.'" The TikToker proceeded to order a side of potatoes, crab cakes, and some lemon cocktails. It was then her date took a toilet break – but didn't return, leaving the woman with the $150 bill. In a follow-up video, she claimed she addressed the situation via text, writing: "Running out on a tab is crazyyy." @equanaaa #hebrokeyallendofstory #fontainesoysterhouse #oysters "I offered to take you out for drinks and you ordered all that food," he responded. "I can CashApp the total for the drinks." The comments were soon flooded with fellow TikTokers and their takes, with one user in hysterics: "I’m in here hollering bc you was slurping up them oysters and that man was plotting his escape. "He didn’t even finish his drink," another joked, adding: "And you had 48 oysters, potatoes AND crab cakes." Meanwhile, a third wrote: "He has the best "tell me about your worst date experience.'" The restaurant's manager later told Rolling Stone: "I will say, it had been a minute since I had a single female eat that many. "But then, you know, she was eating crackers and things like that. Andrew Tate revealed on Twitter/X that the next guest on his 'Emergency Meeting' podcast will be Lord Miles, a YouTuber known for travelling to dangerous places who was arrested by the Taliban earlier this year. Lord Miles, also known as Miles Routledge, is a 22-year-old student and investment banking intern from Birmingham, UK, who takes part in 'danger tourism', where he travels to dangerous places for fun. Tate announced Routledge would be on his podcast in a recent tweet, calling Routledge "the embodiment of the British spirit of adventure, returning home with stories to tell." Tate's 'Emergency Meeting' podcast is hosted on Rumble, the streaming platform that has signed an exclusive deal with Tate as well as other creators such as Russell Brand and iShowSpeed. Tate often shares his perspectives on global issues on 'Emergency Meeting', as well as offering insights into his life. Perhaps as expected, Tate is known for having guests on the show that align with his ideologies. Routledge was released by the Taliban in June 2023, after being arrested in Afghanistan in March 2023. During his imprisonment updates came from a social media account claiming to be run by a friend of Routledge's. At the time, people thought Routledge was dead or that the whole thing was a scam. The podcast episode was streamed on October 15, during which Routledge shared his experiences with Tate, and Tate revealed that he has been "banned from every banking institution on the planet." Saying that he's on a "politically exposed persons list" and that "because I have expressed opinions on the internet, I'm not allowed to have a bank account anywhere." The pair discussed the Taliban, calling the terrorist group a "form of law and order", with Miles calling his arrest "very professional" and saying he couldn't reveal more for security reasons. A woman is furious at her mother for joking about her unborn baby's name. Posting on Reddit, she explained she has a tricky relationship with her mother and has been annoyed with how she's reacted to the pregnancy. "For example, when my husband and I announced the pregnancy, she used the pictures we posted but instead wrote a whole post about becoming a grandmother," she explained. "Literally nothing about being happy for my husband and I. She didn’t even tag us in it or mention us." But things went from bad to worse. Her husband and her chose an "old family name" that she decided not to share on the Reddit post that means a lot to them. But her mother began blasting our baby name everywhere," she said. She said that people would mock it in an exaggerated southern accent and got her friends to join in. The woman explained: "It seems innocuous enough - but she isn’t even born yet. I kind of wanted to be the one to A. introduce my baby to the world and announce her name that means a LOT to my husband and I and B. I have never once said to actually refer to her" how her Mum thinks it is pronounced. "I have been fairly mum on my own social media about what the baby’s name will be, and even amongst my own friends have only shared her name if they asked," she continued. Podcaster Hasan Piker has left many viewers touched after sharing his despair at a two-year-old clip of Israeli forces attacking a crowd of mourners during the funeral of a Palestinian-American journalist. Piker, co-host of The Leftovers podcast, said through tears that the incident was “really f***** up”, and asked whether Palestinians can have “a moment of peace”. He was speaking during an episode covering the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. In the discussion, Piker played a clip of the funeral of Shireen Abu Akleh, an Al Jazeera journalist who was shot dead while covering a raid in the West Bank in 2021. In 2022, Abu Akleh’s body was being taken in a casket from the town of Jenin to her funeral in the Old City of East Jerusalem, in a procession. Footage showed armoured Israeli officers attack the people carrying the casket with batons before beating and kicking others. Many of the mourners were holding Palestinian flags. Piker co-hosts The Leftovers with the American-Israeli comedian Ethan Klein. It has more than 2.9m subscribers on YouTube. In their latest show, Piker broke down in tears at the clip. He said: “They went to her funeral and beat the s*** out of people and ripped the Palestinian flag off her. “Can’t Palestinians have a moment of peace in this f****** world? They can’t even mourn the dead. “How is that allowed? How can that continue? The subsequent Israeli counteroffensive has seen rockets rain down on Gaza, killing more than 1,500 people. Israel has also cut off electricity, water and food supplies to the city where two million people live. Nearly half of Gaza's residents are children. On 13 October, the 1.1m Palestinians in the northern part of Gaza were ordered to evacuate within 24 hours before an Israeli ground invasion. The World Health Organisation has called the evacuation order a "death sentence" for the thousands of Palestinian people receiving critical treatment in Gaza's hospitals, which are already overflowing following days of Israeli bombardment. When taking a flight, the etiquette of fellow passengers is one of the contributing factors that determines how good the experience will be. But one passenger who was on a "completely full Southwest flight" has sparked a debate after complaining about the person sitting next to her, all because she refused to use headphones when watching videos on her phone. A 32-year-old woman took to Reddit's "Am I the A**hole?" forum to share her frustration as she travelled from Dallas to Chicago. "I was in the window seat and there was a 50+ lady sitting in the aisle seat," she began. "The plane filled up and only middle seats were left so I was happy when this cute girl in her early 20’s wanted to sit in our middle seat. "She had her Chanel purse, and basic b gucci sneakers on.' Then, things took a turn when the woman whipped out her phone. "While we were taxiing for ~40 minutes before take off, I put my air pods in and start listening to an audio book and she proceeds to pull her phone out and starts watching TikTok videos on full volume. The poster described how she was in "somewhat disbelief by her lack of self-awareness," and thought "no way she’s going to do this for more than 5 minutes." However, it continued on... "Well, 30 minutes passes by and she is still scrolling through her feed and the videos are so loud (I can hardly hear my audio book) and just ridiculous mind-numbing crap." The woman couldn't put up with the noise any longer and decided to ask her to lower the volume. "I am finally so annoyed that I turn to her & ask if she can please turn her volume down or put in headphones. "She says nothing to me, but gives me the nastiest look like I am in the wrong for telling her off and proceeds to barely turn it down." Fuming from the woman's lack of response, the original poster is "so offended" she then turns to brightness up on her phone to "very obviously text my husband about what a devil she is and basically rip her apart and make sure my texts about her are within her line of sight." "I am sure she saw the texts, bc she avoided eye contact with me for the rest of the trip." She then asked: 'AITA for saying something and making sure she saw my awful comments about her in response to her reaction or can someone please tell me what is going on in these people’s heads? Is it entitlement? "Do they consider the people around them and just not care?? Help me out here!" Since sharing the situation, people have been weighing in with their thoughts - most believed the original poster was not in the wrong and agreed that it's basic etiquette to not play videos out loud. But the original poster was also criticised for her passive-aggressive move and was told she should have just told the flight attendant who would have sorted the problem. One person said: "NTA. Basic etiquette requires headphones. "Also, this may actually be in the contract of carriage, depending on which airline. Next time get an FA involved. They will shut that crap down in nothing flat typically because they hate it too." "NTA Once you asked once, it's time to get the flight attendant involved. Let them handle it," another person wrote. An optical illusion featuring a hidden number which everyone is seeing differently is confusing social media. Twitter user @benonwine posted the illusion of a black and white circle that shows hidden numbers which users can’t seem to agree on. The zig-zag pattern of the circle tricks the eye into thinking the image is moving, and the Twitter user captioned the picture: "DO you see a number? If so, what number?" Should I book an appointment with my GP?” Another said: “I can only see 528. Does that mean anything about my eyesight?” Another replied: “1528? He said: “I'm guessing the numbers you see depends on your 'contrast sensitivity' (different from what a standard eye measures).“It can be tested by opticians. The daughter of Captain Sir Tom Moore has revealed another controversy and Twitter/X can't get enough. Hannah Ingram-Moore said her family kept £800,000 from three books Captain Tom had written because he wanted them to retain the profits rather than donate them to charity. In an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV, which is scheduled to be broadcast on Thursday, she said her father wanted his family to keep the profits in Club Nook Ltd, a firm separate from the Captain Tom Foundation charity. The latter has been under investigation by the Charity Commission for more than a year regarding potential conflicts of interest, and concerns over mismanagement and legal compliance. Ingram-Moore told TalkTV: “These were my father’s books, and it was honestly such a joy for him to write them, but they were his books. “He had an agent and they worked on that deal, and his wishes were that that money would sit in Club Nook, and in the end … ” Morgan asked: “For you to keep?”, and she replied “Yes. A dermatologist has gone viral on TikTok for sharing body parts you should be washing more. In a clip that's racked up over 3.3 million views, Lindsey Zubritsky (@dermguru) kickstarts with the ears. She said if you have "an odour" when you place your finger behind your ears, you need to be washing that area more. If not, "flaking and dandruff" can build up and make the skin situation much worse. Lindsey states that it "is a super common area to collect sweat, debris, dirt buildup," before sharing a gruesome image of a "navel stone" if you begin to neglect your belly button. The dermatologist then urges people to really take care of their nails. The manager of popular YouTuber KSI has claimed the star rejected over $300 million in sponsorships and brand deals. In an episode of True Geordie's podcast on 8 October, manager and Misfits president Mams Taylor lifted the lid on the staggering amount KSI (real name Olajide 'JJ' Olatunji) turned down. "JJ and I have rejected maybe 300 plus million dollars since we started working together," Taylor, who started working with the YouTuber in 2018, alleged. He suggested that the offers "didn't align with making [KSI] happy," or were too demanding. Taylor Swift’s music video for the 2017 song 'Delicate' has earned her a rather surprising comparison – former British prime minister Theresa May. The video, which has more than half-a-billion views on YouTube, features Swift dancing through a room full of smartly dressed people as the song plays in the background. But a post on X/Twitter has gone viral after comparing her to “a young Theresa May”. And they may have a point. People who take an interest in British politics could scarcely forget the moment when May, at the 2018 Conservative Party conference, walked on stage to Abba’s Dancing Queen. Her accompanying dance was one for the ages, and drew more than a little mockery on social media at the time. It was, in fact, a tongue-in-cheek reference to a widely shared video of May on a trip to South Africa months earlier, when she danced with a group of school children. Swift may not appreciate the comparison – though there are certain similarities between the two, and Twitter users were quick to point this out. A video of what appears to be a bedbug crawling up a passenger’s leg on the London Underground has gone viral. The clip, viewed more than 1.7m times since it was posted this week, shows a small brown insect crawling up the trouser leg of somebody sitting on the Victoria line.
