Woman sparks debate after banning sister from bringing boyfriend of 8 years to her wedding
Woman sparks debate after banning sister from bringing boyfriend of 8 years to her wedding
A woman has sparked major debate online after banning her sister from bringing her boyfriend of eight years to her wedding. Wedding days can be a minefield for navigating family politics and relationships, but one woman took things to another level after causing outrage among her nearest and dearest. In a since-deleted post on Reddit’s Am I The A**hole (AITA) sub, the invited sister in question asked other Redditors to comment on whether she was in the wrong for threatening to not attend her sister’s wedding or be her maid of honour if her boyfriend was not allowed to go. She explained that the sister who is getting married once dated the man she is now dating for just two months and that their relationship was never serious. She wrote: “I didn’t even know they dated until I introduced Danny to my family and they were looking at each other weirdly the whole night and after he told me he and my sister dated two months a few years back and it was nothing serious “I talked to my sister about it and she said she doesn’t care as long as I’m happy and it was just a shock. My sister has invited +1’s to sit at the table with the people in the wedding and I was specifically told that Danny was not to be there in my invitation.” The sister claimed she asked the bride-to-be why he wasn’t invited, to which her sister responded she didn’t want her “ex” at her wedding. But, the sister explained she would have no one at the table to talk to. She then gave her an ultimatum with three options, the first being that she invited her boyfriend. The second option was that she find a new maid of honour and move her sister to the table with their parents. Thirdly, she would not attend the wedding at all. The woman explained her sister’s response to the ultimatum, writing: “She said I was being unreasonable and that it’s so close to the wedding she can’t rearrange everything. I just said it wasn’t my problem and that Danny is my family also and how would she like it if I were getting married and told her she couldn’t bring her fiancé.” In the comments, other Reddit users sided with the sister and the “ex”. One person wrote: “I don’t understand. If you’ve been with him for 8 YEARS how is this an issue now all of sudden? Bride needs to get over herself. NTA (no the a**hole) and your choices are fair and reasonable.” Another agreed, writing: “She should have let you know that he was not going to be invited when she asked you to be her MOH. After 8.5 years now he is a problem.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. MrBeast is worried he’ll go ‘broke’ after latest video
MrBeast is worried he’ll go ‘broke’ after latest video
As the world's most popular YouTuber, MrBeast is known for his elaborate videos but there's one stunt he fears may leave him "broke". The 25-year-old, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has over 188 million subscribers on the video platform. Over recent years he's pulled off some expensive events for content such as recreating Squid Game and having his very own Olympics. Recently, MrBeast was number one on the Forbes Top Creators 2023, after he amassed earnings of $82m - however, a recent stunt could prove costly. Donaldson has pledged to give a man $10,000 for every day if he can cope with living in a shop, and as it goes, the guy is hanging in there. He also noted that the shop isn't operating as a store currently and that he "blacked out the windows and locked it". “I messed up.. I bought a random grocery store and told a random person I’d give him $10,000 every day he lives in it and it’s been weeks and he shows no signs of ever leaving. I’m gonna go broke," the YouTube tweeted. This caused fans to question how long every day the guy has lasted so far, to which Donaldson replied: "It’s been over a month so far.” It means the man has bagged himself over $300,000 with this number increasing the longer he continues to remain inside the shop. Another person highlighted to Donaldson a video where fellow YouTuber MatPat explained how a person could survive up to 60 years locked in a supermarket. Not exactly something MrBeast wants to hear, since 60 years inside the shop would set him back $219m - although spending most of your life inside a dark shop isn't exactly ideal. There isn't a video out yet on Donaldson's YouTube channel about this particular challenge, so guess we'll have to wait and see how long the guy lasts... Meanwhile, fans have previously been concerned that the YouTuber was broke after someone who looks like Donaldson was spotted flying economy on a Taiwanese airline. However, the identity of the man in the photo has not been confirmed nor has Donaldson responded to the image. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. People are divided over whether this supermarket habit is gross or not
People are divided over whether this supermarket habit is gross or not
A woman has started a debate around shopping etiquette, with many calling her habit "gross". During an episode of the Australian cooking show My Kitchen Rules, contestant Patricija was required to pick up the ingredients for a Lithuanian dish she was preparing. One segment shows Patricija shopping for shallots, accidentally dropping one on the supermarket floor before simply putting it back on the shelf. Many viewers turned to social media with their takes, with one calling it "just gross". "I know we're supposed to wash our produce when we get it home from the supermarket, but no one does it," they added. Another said the "right thing to do is to take it to a staff member and tell them it fell on the floor". Meanwhile, a third jumped to her defence, confessing: "I put it back. If I damaged it beyond sellable I'd show it to the produce guy and tell him I dropped it. Then move on with my shopping." In other shopping etiquette news, one woman shared the shocking moment she found what appeared to be used boxers on a rack in a clothing shop. "Gross," she said in her viral TikTok clip. "Rather than leaving them there, I just did everyone a favour and threw them away, they didn’t belong here. I did notify a staff [member] of what I found and they thanked me for throwing it away." One person commented: "That is so nice of you for taking it out of the racks, a lot of people would just leave it." Another added: "Wait, you take the award for the number one best samaritan." Kourtney Kardashian reveals who's in the 'Not Kourtney' group chat after clash with Kim
Kourtney Kardashian reveals who's in the 'Not Kourtney' group chat after clash with Kim
Kourtney Kardashian has shut down Kim Kardashian's claims that her friends are in an anti-Kourtney group chat. On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney called Kim a "narcissist," before Kim claimed, "All of your friends call us complaining." "Whether you think they're the ones going to you, they're all coming to us on the side, saying the opposite to us," Kim continued. "We're all confused, and we're on a group chat labelled 'Not Kourtney' so we know, and have to funnel what your friends are saying to us, and have to figure out why you're such a different person and why you have this vendetta." Kourtney has since taken to Instagram to clear the air that her friends are not involved. In a screenshot posted to her story, Kourtney's friends Allie Rizzo Sartiano and Simon Huck said "trolls" are attacking them for Kim's claims. "Should I soft launch the YASS Kourtney group chat?" Sartiano wrote in a text message, to which Kourtney later responded with crying laughing face emojis. "OMG please! These trolls keep DM’ing me accusing me of being on the other chat," Huck responded. "I’m like, if only they knew our anxiety about meaningless, endless chit chat," Sartiano said, adding that the alleged 'Not Kourtney' chat "didn't exist." "I mean over a martini we will debrief, but dang for a group chat that didn’t exist I am fidgeting," Sartiano added. "Kim threw us all under the bus when there was not one actual friend on the chat," Huck quipped. Kourtney later confirmed who was in the chat by responding to a fan's comment under a post of her baby shower. "Are those friends on the ‘not Kourtney group chat’ Cause if so we don’t need them there," one fan wrote, to which the Poosh founder responded: "No the members of that chat are namely Kim, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie. Case closed." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Click the upvote icon at the top of the page to help raise this article through the indy100 rankings.

Tourists slam wax museum for dodgy celebrity figures
Tourists slam wax museum for dodgy celebrity figures
Tourists have slammed a wax museum with dodgy Cristiano Ronaldo and Elton John models among those on display. The questionable lookalikes also include Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Mark Zuckerberg. Visitors to the Sopot Wax Museum tourist attraction have been left “disappointed” or in hysterics. Portuguese ace Ronaldo is still in a Real Madrid kit despite leaving the Spanish giants five years ago. He has played for Juventus and Man United since and is currently with All Nassr. Elton looks nothing like the retired Rocketman. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – who divorced seven years ago – are also in the exhibition. Gangnam Style singer PSY makes an appearance – 11 years on from his one-hit-wonder. And Chiquinho Boca Grande – who entered the Guinness Book of World Records in 2010 for his 17cm mouth – also has his own statue. Other waxworks look a world away from their supposed famous faces. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg donned a curlier-looking hairstyle. Lord of the Rings character Gandalf bears little resemblance to actor Ian McKellen. Other wax works at the Sopot Wax Museum in the town of Sopot, near Gdańsk, Poland include Michael Jackson and Jennifer Lopez. Rihanna and Lady Gaga also feature. Brit Phil, who visited last month said: “Having read other reviews about the museum, we didn't know what to expect but decided to visit as we had nothing else to do. “If this is supposed to be Sopot's answer to Madame Tussauds museum, that is stretching the truth too far. “It was more like ‘The Hammer House Of Horrors’.” One tourist said: “Very poor and disappointing exhibition. “The place is very small with only a few images that mostly do not look like themselves.” Another tourist said: “Kids will enjoy it but if you’ve been to a wax museum before like the one in London you won’t be impressed.” Livid Maria said: “I read the reviews before I went here so I was prepared for the worst, that was why we went here as well. “It was not the figures that disappointed me it was the fact that all. “These figures of Einstein, trump and famous persons were not there. “I don’t know if it was because they were renovating but that was very disappointing because we looked so much forward to it. “We only paid 15 zloty for students so that was not too bad. “It was 20 zloty for adults. “Would not recommend.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Pastor enters cage full of lions to prove he's protected by God
Pastor enters cage full of lions to prove he's protected by God
A pastor locked himself in a cage with three lions to demonstrate his ‘divine protection’ like the biblical story of Daniel. The religious leader even invited his congregation to the animal park to witness the stunt. According to local media, the pastor, whose identity is still unknown, wanted to prove that “nothing can happen to a man of God”. The clip shows the pastor, seen wearing a bright blue suit, stroking the growling lions in their enclosure in Nigeria. At one point, he even puts his arm in one lion’s mouth before looking confidently at the camera. It appears as though the Nigerian pastor was recreating the biblical story of Daniel, who was thrown into a lion’s den and came out unscathed thanks to the hand of God. After the footage went viral, Kenyan MP Ronald Karauri, 45, offered to pay for the pastor to be sent to the Maasai Mara National Reserve to try the stunt with wild lions. The MP said: “I volunteer to take him to the Maasai Mara please, all expenses paid. “We look for the lions and he can go walk with them.” One local commented: “I challenge him to do that at Maasai Mara!” Another said: “Those are not lions, they are lion cubs. Big difference.” Someone else wrote: “Oh Yeah! Lemme bring my dog and lock him up with it for one minute.” Another local suggested: “He went in just after they were fed.” Erik remarked: “Why are the growls added over the natural soundtrack?” Bill commented: “They should have taken him to the wild lions at the Kenyan park, those lions were given drugs.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Woman finds the one app you really don't want to see on her boyfriend's phone
Woman finds the one app you really don't want to see on her boyfriend's phone
A woman has revealed she found an app on her boyfriend's phone that made her very cross indeed. Posting on Reddit, the 29-year-old woman explained that she'd been with her 36-year-old boyfriend for five years but she "went through his phone", only to discover that he'd "made a Tinder profile" and she was worried he was "cheating." She wrote: "We just moved to Minnesota, I relocated to be with him and his family and we have a two-year-old son. So this is really heartbreaking to me. I don't know how to bring up this conversation without it being turned on me for snooping. "I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because I do love him, but the betrayal hurts so I just need a little advice. So to all who read this, should I just ask him straight out or just let sleeping dogs lie?" In the comments, people suggested that if he wasn't cheating already, he was probably planning to cheat so it would be best to leave the relationship. This is everyone's worst nightmare. Couple buy a four-storey Italian home for the price of a chocolate bar
Couple buy a four-storey Italian home for the price of a chocolate bar
A couple, who purchased an Italian a €1 property in Italy, have said "it changed everything" in their lives. Jeffrey Pfefferle and his partner Leon McNaught found out about the scheme back in 2019 – and two years later ended up buying two houses in Sicily for a combined total of £27,651. The pair opened up to CNN Travel about their decision, saying they "really fought for it from the start." "At Rome Airport, I went into panic mode when we missed the gate for the Palermo flight – luckily we were able to catch another plane later that same day," they said. Jeffrey continued: "It’s been gutted [by the previous owners] and our architect says it’s an easy fix, a blank canvas. "The electrics are fine, and the plumbing is done." They went on to discuss the "better quality of life" in the Mediterranean which for them, "values people above money." "A place that embraces a slower pace, giving more priority to the important things," they said. “We are surrounded by a community that have shown us extreme caring and kindness. "It’s a place that has taught us that time is our utmost prized possession and that time is meant for living, and living it to the fullest with those we love and care about.” It comes after another couple couldn't afford to buy a home in the UK – so they purchased an entire farm in Italy instead. The Le Marche farm was initially on the market for €200,000 (about £170,000), but the pair managed to negotiate the price down to €160,000 and bought it outright with their savings and £50,000 of loans. The Kevin James smirking meme explained
The Kevin James smirking meme explained
Kevin James is the latest celebrity to become a meme recently, with one particular snap of the actor providing the perfect template. With his hands casually in his pockets, and wearing a sheepish smirk - not forgetting the smizing, the snap is from a promotional shoot from his ’90s sitcom The King Of Queens. In the comedy, James played deliveryman Doug Heffernan, and the show lasted for nine seasons from 1998-2007 this particular photo was taken by Tony Esparza for CBS Photo Archive/Getty Images. The image first became a meme template when a Twitter/X user posted the photo with the caption: "me after 1 double rum and diet," on September 22 which went viral with over 24,000 tweets, according to Know Your Meme. Since then an influx of similar memes have made their way online, with many also going viral - here are some of the best memes. The revival of the photo hasn't gone unnoticed by James himself who took to Instagram where he posted a mock-up poster for his comedy tour using the "Doublehands in the pocket" photo. As the tagline he added: "Sheepishly coming to a city near you." "Gearing up for my new Stand Up Tour… so happy I found this headshot…," the actor added in the caption. Safe to say, that fans are loving the fact that he's embracing the meme. One person said: "YOURE AN INTERNET SENSATION, AGAIN." "Meme of the year," another person wrote. Woman divorces ghost husband Edwardo and now claims he's stalking her
Woman divorces ghost husband Edwardo and now claims he's stalking her
A woman who made headlines after ‘marrying’ a ghost has revealed her former lover is stalking her – after they famously ‘divorced’ earlier this year. Brocarde, a singer and songwriter from Oxfordshire, fell in love with Edwardo – the ghost of a Victorian soldier – in late 2021 after he appeared in her home. But after a rocky marriage marred with cheating allegations and him often ‘ghosting’ her for days on end, Brocarde called it quits this summer, having an exorcism to rid herself of the spirit. She enjoyed a few “blissful” months without Edwardo before becoming suspicious that the ghoul had re-entered her life – allegedly disguising himself as other identities. While the singer has been attempting to move on with human men, she claims her ex is haunting her. “I thought that I’d started a new ghost-free chapter of my life,” Brocarde told NeedToKnow.co.uk. “It wasn’t until I started to think about moving on that disturbing and creepy things started to happen. “I embarked on a post-divorce trip to Paris to find myself and I ended up finding ‘Fabienne’, or so he called himself. “I was walking down the banks of the river Seine chasing the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, cowing under my umbrella as raindrops poured off it, and then it struck me, glistening in a puddle – the reflection of a French man. “I tilted my umbrella back but nobody was around, I looked back towards the puddle the man was clear as the ocean.” Brocarde claims the ghost appeared to be a chef who introduced himself as Fabienne and then followed her home. She said: “A holiday romance with a Parisienne ghost [was] surely too good to be true. “He later revealed himself as Edwardo – it was a honey trap all along. “I couldn’t believe I’d been catfished by a ghost.” Since then, she says Edwardo has continued to harass her under the guise of being different spirits. She added: “After the French encounter Edwardo ghosted me again. “I cautiously started to go on dates with living humans. “I returned home from a date with a bunch of flowers, and Edwardo thought it would be amusing to pull the heads off all of the roses and scatter the petals on my bed. “He’s even learnt to play Careless Whisper on the saxophone – I mean, at least I think it’s him, the sound echoes in the distance sometimes when I’m taking a bath in candlelight. “He’s getting really jealous of the fact that I want to date a modern man. “He knows I no longer find his uniform attractive so he’s going to extreme lengths to pull me in, he’s even given himself a modern make-over and presented himself as a Ken doll," she continued. "I thought I was going crazy when the image of him with cropped blond hair and a pink suit appeared, I could tell it was him though as his gaunt harrowed eyes locked into mine and slowly he merged back into a rugged Victorian soldier.” While Brocarde is eager to move on with a living man, she said she has been told she has a “special gift” that helps her connect with the dead. And while she is open-minded when it comes to the spirit realm, she has been left horrified by Edwardo’s antics. The singer added: “It’s terrifying, that’s why I wanted him exorcised. “A medium told me Edwardo would always be with me and that’s a thought that I can’t come to terms with. “I feel now I’m not consenting of Edwardo’s presence and I’m having trouble getting him to disconnect from me.” For now, she’s focusing on her work as a singer-songwriter, and has released a post-divorce tune ‘Just Another Anthem’. Brocarde added: “I feel now it’s the time for me to focus on my singing and songwriting – Edwardo has provided me with a ton of inspiration, so that’s something to thank him for. “Moving forward I feel like I need a bit of flesh on my bones. “Skeletons and dead men may seem hot but in reality, they are stone cold, unpredictable and scary.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. OnlyFans model shares five reasons adult creators are 'marriage material'
OnlyFans model shares five reasons adult creators are 'marriage material'
Lari Sumpani recently hit the headlines after winning the Miss BumBum 2023 contest and now aims to challenge how people view women who share saucy snaps online. In addition to tackling stigma around adult industry workers, the 24-year-old has also shared five reasons why she believes her profession would actually make her a “great wife”. "I really want to get married, but because of my work, I have difficulty finding men who want to commit to women like me,” Lari, who is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and has 330,000 followers on Instagram, (@eusumpani ), told Nude PR. "They are insecure.” 'We keep things spicy' First on her list of great partner qualities? Keeping things interesting. Lari said: “A woman like me will always propose new things to spice up the relationship.” 'Travel the world together' The model travels across the globe for her job and says a partner would benefit from this – since they could join in on these adventures. She said: “As OnlyFans models travel very frequently for recordings, [our partner could come along]. “I have already travelled for work to countries such as Belgium and France.” 'It's all about honesty' Lari believes that adult models are more honest open partners – because they already share who they are so much with fans online. In short, there’s nothing to hide. She said: “We will always be sincere.” 'Sex, sex, sex' The model has previously revealed that she has sex for three hours a few times weekly, which keeps her fit and “men love it”. So it perhaps comes as no surprise that “sex time” falls in fourth place on the list of why she’d make a great wife. She said: “It is one of the most special points. “Sex is a super important reason, because there will definitely be innovation with toys, costumes and different positions.” 'Money isn't a problem' Lari, who rakes in the cash from her saucy career and modelling, says finances will “never be a problem”. She said: “Adult content producers who keep their finances organised have money in their pockets. “The medium is profitable and this means that money will never be a problem for the couple.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. An expert has debunked 'old wives' tale' about what happens when you swallow gum
An expert has debunked 'old wives' tale' about what happens when you swallow gum
Myths we are told as children often go unchallenged and disguised as facts later in life, from bread crust making your hair curly to catching a cold if you go outside with wet hair – and chewing gum sitting in the stomach for seven years if swallowed. Sorry to break it to you, but they're all myths. Now, one professor of clinical gastroenterology from the University of Oxford set the record straight, calling the chewing gum claim nothing but an "old wives' tale". "I’ve no idea where the myth came from," Simon Travis told CNN. "I can only imagine that it was suggested because someone wanted to stop their children from chewing gum." The only inkling of truth is that chewing gum is not digestible, as Travis explains: "If you swallow chewing gum, it’ll go through the stomach, and go through into the intestine, and pass out unchanged at the other end." Swallowing three or more pieces a day is understandably considered excessive, however. "There are cases of chewing gum lodging in the intestines of infants and even children if they’ve swallowed a lot, and then it causes an obstruction," Travis continues. "But in over 30 years of specialist gastro practice, I’ve never seen a case." Among other medical myths that simply won't disappear is the idea that you have to wait an hour after eating before swimming, to avoid cramps. The myth is said to date back to around 1908 when it was featured in a a Boy Scout handbook. However, there is no reason to not swim after eating. While exercise after a feast can feel slightly uncomfortable, it is by no means dangerous. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy.
