MrBeast has just released one of his most expensive and creative videos ever that almost broke a YouTube record and has been showered with praise for the quality of production and the amount of money poured into it. The 25-year-old YouTuber, the real name Jimmy Donaldson, has returned to one of his big-scale projects for his latest video after recently embarking on philanthropic endeavours such as helping people see and hear again. His new video was very different in comparison as was similar to something that you might see in Squid Game. It involved 100 contestants aged 1 to 100 all trapped inside clear plastic boxes. The winner will receive $500k as a reward. The video clocks in at 25 minutes and all things aside it is a genuinely well put together and compelling watch. In the comments Donaldson added that he and his team had spent "millions of dollars and months working on this video, I hope you all liked it." It's fair to say that it has gone down well with his fans. One person wrote: "This is one of the best Mr. Beast videos ive ever seen. It had the competitiveness and drama that we expect from challenges but added great representation throughout all the ages and some amazing emotional and heartwarming roller coasters. Well done!" Another added: "This is by far my most favorite challenge from Jimmy!" A third said: "This was actually epic. Way to take elements of other reality shows and make it your own." TikTok trends are often as random as they come and one current obsession on the video app revolves around a rather delicious-looking cinnamon roll. The roll, which contains a heavy serving of cream, was actually created by chef @marleysrose back in May 2022 but has since gone viral again and the recipe has now been viewed more than one million times. This is hardly the first time a cinnamon roll has gone viral on TikTok but this heavily cream-drenched version is the one currently doing the rounds. What’s the best way to deal with ignorance? Get angry? Ignore it? Try and educate someone? Well, here’s a lesson in elegantly dispatching trolls, courtesy of Captain Kate McCue. McCue is a cruise ship captain with big social media followings on Instagram and TikTok. She’s the first American woman to captain a giant cruise vessel. But that hasn’t stopped people from sending her ignorant comments. McCue decided, for once, to dignify them with a response – with a twist. Renowned for exuding romance with tens of thousands of proposals happening at the Eiffel Tower each year, it's no wonder Paris is branded the City of Love. The French capital first got its reputation in the 19th century, when artists and writers including Victor Hugo and Honoré de Balzac banded together for what we now know as the Romantic period. The movement rebelled against the formalities of neo-classicism, through a newfound interest in the expression of personal feeling. It was a time when literary evenings were a big hit among the bourgeoisie, later introducing words to European vocabulary such as "rendez-vous" and "je t’aime". Given the unwritten pressures of visiting with special someone, Paris may not initially spring to mind as a solo travel destination. I've visited the famed city many times, but never alone. I too, felt the need to string someone along so I didn't feel out of place. Instead, I romanticised my solo life and headed to the city to explore through a different lens – and ironically, I fell in love, but not how you might expect. Nestled in the 15th arrondissement resides Hôtel Beauregard, a six-storey Haussmann building home to 38 rooms. Designed by Chloé Nègre, an India Mahdavi alum and one of this year’s AD 100, the hotel marries classic and contemporary features with a seventies retro twist. Complete with Eiffel Tower views and a Wes Anderson-esque restaurant, Hôtel Beauregard is the newest addition to hipster hotel company Touriste. The chain is passionate about guests "stepping outside of their comfort zone" to discover other lives, and "being comfortable with occasionally finding yourself off-centre before reclaiming parts of yourself you sometimes didn’t think were there". And, that's exactly what I did. The idea that Paris is exclusive to lovers is far from reality. It's quite the opposite: Parisians are experts at being by themselves. I read in cafes, dined al fresco, drank wine, visited galleries, and smashed my step goal. This led me to an epiphany that consciously dating yourself is one of the most romantic gestures. Even with public displays of affection in every corner, there wasn't once a feeling of missing out. While that may sound slightly self-absorbed, solitude has almost become a lost art. We spend most of our 'free time' booking in social plans, fighting dating app fatigue and desperately trying to stay busy. But, when you cut all attachment to the things you think you need, you learn to love your own company, time and freedom. It almost becomes addictive. Being alone also pushes you outside of your comfort zone. I found myself putting the world to rights with locals, discussing everything from French culture, politics, to their hate for Emily in Paris and exaggerated stereotypes – one of which being the French are rude. They're some of the friendliest people I've ever met. There's something poetic about being in the City of Love solo. Some friends, partners and family members come and go but you will always have yourself – which poses the question: Why do we struggle to value ourselves and cherish our time as much as we do with others? We’ve all had bad days at work, and some people will know how horrible being let go feels like, but we’ve never heard anything like this before… A woman has shared her experience after she was fired from her job after DNA revealed that she and her boss were related. It turns out the CEO was her secret half-brother, and the truth was only revealed after her father bought them all a DNA kit as a present. At the time, the woman didn’t know her dad had a "secret love child". Writing on Reddit, the woman said: “Dad's not the kind of guy to gift everyone DNA kits as a way of telling us he had a secret love child, so I don't think he knew he had another kid. “We're all grown-ups and know where babies come from and that things aren't always what we expect, so I have a feeling this is a shock to everyone." The woman then explained how her boss is a Texan, and her father lived in the state for a decade before he married her mother. The results showed that her CEO’s name was listed as her “half-sibling”. She wrote: "I've met the CEO a few times but he works out of the corporate headquarters across the country from the smaller division where I work. "About a week after I got my results, an email went out from the head of HR stating that all staff had to take a refresher training on nepotism. "The training also included a new clause that said something like 'staff are not entitled to privileges personal or professional if familial relation by genes or marriage to executive or management staff is known or unknown or discovered during employment'." "My manager later pulled me in personally to ask if I had any questions about the policy," the woman went on to write. "She was vague and uncomfortable, and I said I wanted to know why nobody else was brought in 1:1 to talk about the policy and why no other branch had to do the training. She just kind of ignored the question and said she was just following instructions, so now I think this was aimed at me." Things then took a strange turn, when she began to notice her work being deleted from the company’s drive. She said: "Things were quiet for a week until a major project I was working on was deleted from the company drive. "It was a coincidence that I had backed it up on a USB. Katie [my manager] was suspicious about my project getting deleted and told me to save everything to an external drive and my hardware, and sure enough, the project got deleted again. "After that, anything I put on our work servers was getting deleted within hours, as well as any correspondence with clients or my team members. "I started sending all my work communication and attachments to Katie and duplicating them on a USB that Katie kept locked in her office. It was like a James Bond movie. He 100 per cent tried to fire me." At that point, she was pulled into HR about an “anonymous concern" but she was defended by her manager. She wrote: “Katie must have known something like this was coming because she handled it and BCCd me on all her correspondence with HR and the executive team. "[She] outlined her concerns about the CEO's and HR's behaviour regarding the DNA results and that she believed someone was remotely accessing my work computer to delete things. "The company vice president (VP) was horrified. Up until this point, I didn't know CEBro wasn't the owner of the company. "Katie and I had a call with the VP that day, who assured me that the owners were being made aware of the situation and that my job was not in jeopardy. "The VP also apologized for the write-up attempt and the fact someone was obviously remotely accessing my work hardware." However, things then took a turn when she came into work the next day and was fired on the spot. She wrote: "The Monday after dad spoke to CEBro's mother, I was walking through the lobby when HR literally ambushed me and loudly fired me in front of a client and like twenty of my colleagues. "Security escorted me out in front of my friends and colleagues who had no idea what was happening so that was pretty dark and humiliating." Katie was on hand again to organise a meeting with the VP and explain the situation, but the VP decided to suspend her and the CEO pending investigation. "I was suspended with pay, which HR vehemently protested against. The suspension lasted a week and I had planned to spend that time looking for another job but I just didn't have it in me. "CEBro did not return after the suspension. I was offered my job back with an apology but I opted not to go back either and have been freelancing and taking some downtime because the last month has sucked. Skincare brand Bioré and content creator Cecilee Max-Brown have come under fire after posting a branded TikTok that spoke about school shootings. Max-Brown posted a now deleted TikTok to her account last week in collaboration with Bioré for their pore strips. The TikTok was created for mental health awareness month, with Bioré asking creators and consumers to share what they are ‘stripping away’. In the TikTok, Max-Brown spoke about her experience of surviving a school shooting and told viewers that in collaboration with Bioré she was ‘stripping away’ anxiety. ‘We want you to get it all out,’ referring to Bioré’s mental health campaign, she adds: ‘not only what’s in your pores but most importantly what’s on your mind too.’ Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The content creator and model then went onto explain that she’s be struggling with her anxiety ‘after seeing the effects of gun violence first hand.’ At the end of the video she says: ‘Join me and Bioré skincare in speaking up about mental health.’ The TikTok was accompanied by various videos of Max-Brown applying skincare products, taking walks, and journaling and more. Viewers were shocked to see something so serious and sensitive as a school shooting spoken about in the context of a paid partnership video for skincare. Despite the original TikTok being taken down, users have re uploaded it, with people leaving comments such as ‘is this real?’ ‘This is disgusting!’ ‘WHAT?!’ ‘Capitalism wild…’ and more. Some also took to Twitter to express their disapproval of the advertisement choices made. In response to the backlash, both Bioré and Max-Brown have issued statements regarding the advert. Bioré said that they were ‘so sorry’ for the TikTok, in a statement posted to Instagram. They wrote ‘we did it the wrong way. We lacked sensitivity around an incredibly serious tragedy, and our tonality was completely inappropriate.’ They added: ‘We are committed to continuing our mental health mission, but we promise to do it in a better way.’ Max-Brown issued her own statement on TikTok, writing ‘I am so sorry about this partnership video. Everyone is excited for the release of the highly anticipated Barbie movie, and fans believe the latest trailer actually references another popular doll. In the new trailer, we see Margot Robbie's Barbie and Ryan Gosling's Ken go on a big adventure from Barbie Land to the real world where they encounter normal humans. The words "If you hate Barbie" appear on screen, as Barbie can then be seen interacting with four teenage girls in the next clip, with one of them informing her: "We haven't played with Barbie since we were like five years old." Now, viewers are convinced the four girls represent another doll brand - but there's a debate as to exactly which one. Some believe the girls look just like, Sasha, Yasmin, Cloe and Jade - aka the Bratz dolls which are widely seen as Barbie's market rivals. The two doll brands (Mattel's Barbie and Bratz's MGA Entertainment) were previously in a legal battle with each other which resulted in Mattel being ordered to pay MGA Entertainment nearly $310m in damages, fees and other costs back in 2011, as per The Independent. While others believe it is an Easter Egg reference relating to a different doll from the Mattel family - the My Scene dolls which consisted of Chelsea, Maddison, Kennedy and Nolee (Barbie was previously part of this line until around 2006 before being replaced by Kennedy). My Scene dolls were introduced in 2002, in a bid to compete with Bratz dolls and were discontinued worldwide in 2011. Elsewhere, viewers of the trailer also believe there was a nod to Barbie's inventor Ruth Handler and 'Barbie Girl' is in the Barbie movie after all but its not the original song. A throwback clip from the 2008 Olympics has stirred up a debate over a time travel conspiracy theory as someone appeared to be wearing an AirPod - despite the earphone launching years later. In the clip posted by Justin (@yessirbrother) back in 2020, he noted in the caption how he had been "just appreciating the Beijing opening ceremony," when the camera panned to one particular performed which had a white plastic earphone in his right ear yet none of the other performers had this. The shape and colour look similar to that of an AirPod, but given that this product wasn't launched by Apple until eight years later in 2016, people have questioned how it appears to be in a clip from 2008. However, those weren't quite as convinced and believed there was a reasonable explanation for this. One person noted: "Bluetooth earbuds existed for a long time before AirPods." "Once again not real. A suspicious couple appear to have been caught in the act - on Google Street View. The man and woman were standing on a vacant plot of land full of rubbish. The duo apparently travelled to the secluded area on a motorbike to enjoy a frisky encounter away from prying eyes. The woman appears to be half-naked while the man seems to be zipping himself up. They both seem to notice the Google Street View car. The couple was caught in the act in the neighbourhood of Paseo de Santa Fe, Juárez, Mexico. Google uses vehicles equipped with high-resolution cameras to capture every corner of the planet for their Street View service. However, the cameras occasionally capture people in compromising situations. In Mexico, residents have been filmed brawling, face planting the ground, and taking part in sex acts by the roadside, along with other unflattering incidents. Those captured in awkward situations by the cameras can ask Google for the images to be removed. Offended citizens can fill out a form in the Google support section and mention that the images were published without their consent.
